Of all the people you come in contact with every day, how many of them would you say have needs? Of course, we are not able to meet everyone’s needs. But how would you recognize God’s prompting to meet even one person’s need?

Discussion

Application

Read I Kings 17: 7-16 1. Elijah, God’s prophet was hiding in the wilderness by a brook. What prompted Elijah to leave the brook and go to the foreign city of Zarephath? (verses 7-9) 2. This was a time of drought and famine in the land. Describe the widow’s life situation. (verse 12) 3. What do you think the widow was thinking/feeling when Elijah asked her to sacrifice her last meal in verses 13-14? 4. What resulted from the widows’ obedience to God? (verses 15-16) 1. Describe a time when God asked you to meet someone’s need and you felt like you didn’t have the resources. How did you respond? 2. Read Matt. 25: 31-40. If, in truth, each time you did something nice for someone, Jesus regarded it as a gift to Him, how would this change your behavior? 3. If Jesus were evaluating how you are doing in the area of caring for those in need, what would He say? 4. How would He evaluate our group? 5. Who comes to mind when you think of someone who needs your helps this week? As a group pray for the names mentioned. Next time you meet, be prepared to share how you extended courageous grace.
