Aim

To develop well-informed and skilled graduates who can compete effectively in graduate recruitment, in the workplace and make informed decisions about their future career

Course Description

This Programme is intended to provide students with an insight into key skills employers indicate they need students to recognize, develop and relate effectively to the graduate workplace Students will gain an appreciation of how to manage the graduate recruitment process, how to be effective in the workplace and how to be active in their own career development.

Topics include interactive sessions on areas such as Presentation skills,Acing Graduate Interviews, Inclusive Mindset, Problem Solving, Managing your Graduate Career, EffectiveTeamwork.

The course comprises eight weekly informal and interactive sessions each lasting up to two hours (usually around 1hr, 45mins). During these sessions, students can ask questions and interact with recruiters and learn from their experiences

Students who attend a minimum of six sessions will be awarded the UCD Careers Network non-credit bearing Certificate in Skills for Working Life at a presentation of certificates in lateApril/early May The Certificate will be recorded on students’Diploma Supplement which forms part of your final transcript from UCD

The UCD Careers Network has a range of publications on topics such as effective CV development, preparing for aptitude tests and much more. Our opening hours are Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm (appointments are available every day and until 8:00pm on Wednesday evenings during teaching weeks) Check out our website on wwwucd ie/careers where you can access our resources

Attendance

As this course addresses personal and career development, it is in students’best interests to attend all sessions Only students who attend a minimum of six sessions will qualify for the Certificate in Skills for Working Life

Teaching Methods

Each session will be delivered by representatives from leading graduate employers including Glanbia, Citi, KPMG, RTE, EY,Accenture, and Qualtrics.These employers recruit from a broad range of academic disciplines.Although aspects of the course will be taught in traditional lecture type format, for the most part the sessions will be interactive This should enable students to practice the skills covered and to enhance their own development through participation.

Attendance will be recorded weekly and a presentation of Certificates will be organized soon after course completion

This process will help to ensure that participants gain maximum value from the employer-led workshops which follow

As Diversity & Inclusion Lead, Zbyszek helps RTÉ better reflect the Ireland of today – among those who make the programmes and support our different services, as well as those who appear on them

This in-person event will take place on campus Students will be put in teams of 4-6 where they will be challenged with building a Net Zero Investment portfolio for their mock client Each team will have a €1,000,000 fund to invest across various companies over the course of the game. On completion of the challenge, you will receive a report indicating how well your investment choices performed for your mock client

We invite students from all disciplines to take part, develop your sustainable thinking, and gain valuable insights into the future of Net Zero Business Decision Making
