The UConn men’s basketball team (12-5 overall, 3-2 American), which has won seven of its last nine games, plays the first of three consecutive home games at the XL Center in Hartford, entertaining Tulane (8-11, 1-5) in an American Athletic Conference game. The contest is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. and will be televised by the CBS Sports Network. The Huskies, coming off a 69-57 road win at Houston on Sunday, are 8-1 at home this season. They are led by four double-figure scorers -- junior Rodney Purvis (13.7), grad students Sterling Gibbs (13.4) and Shonn Miller (13.2), and sophomore Daniel Hamilton (12.5). Hamilton also leads the team in both rebounding (8.8) and assists (4.9). Tulane is coming off a 60-45 home loss to nationally-ranked SMU on Sunday. The Green Wave is led in scoring by senior guard Louis Dabney (12.9), along with junior guard Malik Morgan (11.4) and sophomore forward Dylan Osetkowski (10.7). Osetkowski is the team’s top rebounder (9.1), while Morgan is the leader in assists (2.6). UConn defeated Tulane, 75-67, earlier this season in New Orleans. HUSKY BITES Kevin Ollie is in his fourth season as the 18th head coach of the UConn men’s basketball
program, with a career record of 84-38. He reached 50 victories in just two years and he is already sixth on the all-time list of UConn coaching victories. His .689 winning percentage ranks fourth among UConn coaches who have coached more than 20 games and he and Jim Calhoun are the only UConn coaches to win the NCAA championship.
UConn is in its third season as a TV partner of CBS Sports Network and in its fourth season
appearing on the network. The Huskies have an overall record of 11-5 on CBS SN: 2-1 in 2012-13, 3-1 in 2013-14, 4-2 in 2014-15 and 2-1 so far this season. Tonight’s game is the fouth of eight regular-season games on CBS SN this season.
