UP NEXT: After returning to the United States on Saturday, UConn will open its 2012-13 home season by entertaining Vermont on Tuesday, November 13, at Gampel Pavilion. The game will be televised by SNY.
THE GAME: The University of Connecticut men’s basketball team opens regular-season play for the 2012-13 season in the Armed Forces Classic, a unique game against 14th-ranked (AP/USA Today-ESPN) Michigan State. The Huskies and the Spartans will be the first teams to play a Division I NCAA game in Europe when they play in a converted airplane hangar at the Ramstein Air Base in Ramstein, Germany, in front of an audience of military personnel. UConn finished with a record of 20-14 last season, the Huskies’ 16th 20-win season in the last 19 years, and made its 31st appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Michigan State finished 29-8 last year, earned a share of the Big Ten regular-season title, won the league tournament, and reached the NCAA Sweet 16 before bowing to Louisville.
