The UConn men’s basketball team continues its 2016-17 non-conference schedule by playing host to first-time opponent North Florida, out of the Atlantic Sun Conference, at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. tipoff and will be televised by SNY. UConn (4-5) is coming off a hard-fought 64-60 loss at Ohio State on Saturday at Value City Arena, which snapped a two-game winning streak. The Huskies are led in scoring by sophomore guard Jalen Adams (17.9), who also leads the team in assists (5.3), while redshirt senior guard Rodney Purvis is also averaging in double figures (12.2). Senior center Amida Brimah (5.6) and senior forward Kentan Facey (5.4) lead the team in rebounding and Brimah is the top shot blocker (2.9). North Florida (4-9), the defending Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season champion, is coming off a 110-80 home win on Thursday over Thompson University, an NAIA program. The Ospreys, who have already met Auburn, Miami, LSU, Florida, Syracuse, and Arkansas this season, are led in scoring (23.2) and assists (3.7) by senior guard Dallas Moore, the reigning Atlantic Sun Player of the Year. Redshirt junior center Romelo Banks is the team’s top rebounder (6.7).

HUSKY BITES program, with a career record of 101-49. He reached 50 victories faster than any coach in UConn history, was the second-fastest to 100, and is already fifth on the all-time list of UConn coaching victories. His .673 winning percentage ranks fourth among UConn coaches who have coached over 20 games and he and mentor Jim Calhoun are the only UConn coaches to win the NCAA championship.
Not only is today’s game the first meeting between UConn and North Florida, but it is the first time UConn has played any current member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. The rest of the ASUN includes Florida Gulf Coast, NJIT, Jacksonville, Stetson, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, and USC Upstate.
