of the 2014-15 season on Sunday, Nov. 9, at the XL Center in Hartford at noon against Division II Assumption College, out of Worcester, Mass. The Huskies open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 14, against Bryant at Gampel Pavilion at 7 p.m.

THE GAME: The University of Connecticut men’s basketball team opens exhibition play for the 2014-15 season against the Division II Owls of Southern Connecticut State University. UConn is coming off a thrilling 2013-14 season that climaxed with the fourth NCAA National Championship in the history of the program and a 32-8 overall record. It was UConn’s ninth 30-win season, all within the last 25 years, and its 18th 20-win season in the last 21 years. The 2014-15 Huskies are led by senior guard Ryan Boatright, the Preseason Player of the Year in the American Athletic Conference. Southern Connecticut, based in New Haven, finished with an impressive 30-3 record last season, 18-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference, and reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
