The UConn men’s basketball team (11-5 overall, 2-2 American) completes its two-game American Athletic Conference road trip with a game against the University of Houston (13-3, 3-1) at Hofheinz Pavilion. The game will tip off at 2 p.m. (EST) and will be televised by the CBS Sports Network. UConn, coming off a 60-51 loss at Tulsa on Thursday, has won six of its last eight games. The Huskies have four double-figure scorers, led by junior Rodney Purvis (14.5) and including grad Shonn Miller (13.2), grad Sterling Gibbs (12.9) and sophomore Daniel Hamilton (12.4). Hamilton is the team leader in rebounding (8.8) as well as assists (5.1). Houston is coming off a 70-59 loss at Cincinnati on Wednesday, which snapped a five-game winning streak. The Cougars also have four players averaging double figures, sophomore Rob Gray Jr. (17.7), senior Devonta Pollard (13.7), junior Ronnie Johnson (11.7) and junior Damyean Dotson (11.6). Dotson is the team’s leading rebounder (7.4), while freshman Galen Robinson Jr. is the assist leader (3.7). HUSKY BITES Kevin Ollie is in his fourth season as the 18th head coach of the UConn men’s basketball
program, with a career record of 83-38. He reached 50 victories in just two years and he is already sixth on the all-time list of UConn coaching victories. His .686 winning percentage ranks fourth among UConn coaches who have coached more than 20 games and he and Jim Calhoun are the only UConn coaches to win the NCAA championship.
UConn is in its third season as a TV partner of CBS Sports Network and in its fourth season
appearing on the network. The Huskies have an overall record of 10-5 on CBS SN: 2-1 in 2012-13, 3-1 in 2013-14, 4-2 in 2014-15 and 1-1 so far this season. Tonight’s game is the third of eight regular-season games on CBS SN this season.
