The UConn men’s basketball team renews its longtime rivalry with former Big East Conference colleague Syracuse in the Tire Pros Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff and will be televised on ESPN2. UConn (3-4) is coming off a 51-49 victory over Boston University on Wednesday at the XL Center, the Huskies’ first home win of the season. Two other double-figure scorers for the Huskies -- redshirt sophomore Terry Larrier (13.5) and freshman Alterique Gilbert (10.3) -- have suffered season-ending injuries. Senior Amida Brimah is the team leader in rebounds (5.7) and blocked shots (3.1), while Adams tops the Huskies in assists (5.4). Syracuse (5-2) is coming off a 77-71 win over North Florida at home on Saturday, snapping a two-game losing streak. UConn is playing its 295th game on ESPN/ESPN2 since 1986-87, the start of the Jim
Calhoun era. The Huskies have a record of 176-118 (.599) in those games, 1-1 this year. Tonight’s game is the third of 10 regular-season games on ESPN/ESPN2 this season.
UP NEXT: UConn will make its first trip to Columbus, Ohio, in 33 years to meet Ohio
State in a non-conference game at Value City Arena. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tipoff and will be televised by the Big Ten Network.
