The UConn men’s basketball team plays its first American Athletic Conference road game of the season, traveling to Tulsa to challenge the Golden Hurricane at the Reynolds Center in a New Year’s Eve matinee. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. (EST) and the contest will be televised by CBS Sports Network. UConn (5-7 overall, 0-1 AAC) will be out to snap a two-game losing streak. The Huskies are coming off a 62-46 loss to Houston in the conference opener at the XL Center in Hartford on Wednesday. UConn is led in scoring (16.6) and assists (5.5) by sophomore guard Jalen Adams, who missed his first game of the season Wednesday with concussion symptoms. Senior guard Rodney Purvis is also scoring in double figures (12.8), while senior Kentan Facey is the leading rebounder (6.6). It is the AAC opener for Tulsa (6-6 overall), which is coming off a 68-56 loss to Illinois State in the third-place game of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu last Sunday. Juniors Jaleel Wheeler (12.4) and Junior Etou (12.0) are the team’s top scorers.

He reached 50 victories faster than any coach in UConn history, was the second-fastest to 100, and is already fifth on the all-time list of UConn coaching victories. His .667 winning percentage ranks fourth among UConn coaches who have coached over 20 games and he and mentor Jim Calhoun are the only UConn coaches to win the NCAA championship.
