The UConn men’s basketball team gets back on the road to continue its conference schedule with a game against UCF at the CFE Arena in Orlando. The game will tip off at 4 p.m. and will be televised by the CBS Sports Network. The Huskies (14-6 overall, 4-3 American) are coming off a 58-57 loss to Cincinnati on Thursday that snapped a three-game winning streak. They are led by four double-figure scorers -- grad student forward Shonn Miller (13.5), junior guard Rodney Purvis (13.5), grad student guard Sterling Gibbs (13.2) and sophomore forward Daniel Hamilton (11.8). Hamilton also leads the team in rebounding (8.6) and assists (4.9) UCF (10-8, 4-3) has been idle since last Tuesday’s 97-86 home loss to Memphis. The Knights are led in scoring by sophomore forward A.J. Davis (13.4) and sophomore guard Adonys Henriquez (10.6). Davis is the top rebounder on the team (5.9), while senior guard Daiquan Walker leads in assists (3.9). HUSKY BITES Kevin Ollie is in his fourth season as the 18th head coach of the UConn men’s basketball
program, with a career record of 86-39. He reached 50 victories in just two years and he is already sixth on the all-time list of UConn coaching victories. His .688 winning percentage ranks fourth among UConn coaches who have coached more than 20 games and he and Jim Calhoun are the only UConn coaches to win the NCAA championship.
UConn is in its third season as a TV partner of CBS Sports Network and in its fourth season
appearing on the network. The Huskies have an overall record of 12-5 on CBS SN: 2-1 in 2012-13, 3-1 in 2013-14, 4-2 in 2014-15 and 3-1 so far this season. Today’s game is the fifth of eight regular-season games on CBS SN this season.
