UP NEXT: UConn will journey to St. Thomas to compete in
the 2012 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam on Nov. 16-19. The Huskies, who won the 2008 Paradise Jam, will begin tourney play on Friday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. vs. Wake Forest of the ACC. That game will be televised by the CBS Sports Network.
THE GAME: The University of Connecticut men’s basketball team plays its second game of the 2012-13 regular season and its home opener at Gampel Pavilion against longtime New England opponent the University of Vermont. The Huskies opened the season with a thrilling 66-62 victory Friday night over 14th-ranked Michigan State in the first Armed Forces Classic, held in Hangar 5 on Ramstein Air Base in Ramstein, Germany. UConn is coming off a 20-14 season and its 31st NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011-12. Vermont is also 1-0 after nipping Sienna, 54-53, on the road Friday night. The Catamounts are coming off a 24-12 overall season last year, 13-3 in the America East Conference, a conference tournament championship, and earned a trip to the second round of the NCAA tourney.
