EATING DISORDER PROGRAM LAUNCHING JULY 6TH, 2020


The Student Health and Well-being Eating Disorder Program is launching July 6th. Based at the UCSD Student Health Clinic, this program aims to provide comprehensive student-centered care on campus for UCSD students with disordered eating and/or body weight concern through a skilled multidisciplinary team approach. This is a voluntary program for students struggling with eating or body weight concerns. Inclusion criteria for care may include the following: (any single item is sufficient for referral)

Dietary restriction or food avoidance Low body weight Bingeing and/or purging Over-exercising BMI outside 18.5-25 range Abuse or laxatives, diuretics and/or diet pills

Anxiety related to food and/or eating Frequent nausea or vomiting Recent significant weight loss or gain Amenorrhea Recent discharge from higher level of care Poor Body Image Other eating or body weight concerns

To discuss a case or make a referral to the program, please contact Student Health social worker, Tim Stempel, LCSW, at 858-246-0469 or tstempel@ucsd.edu. Students may also self-refer to the program by calling the Student Health clinic at 858-534-3300 and requesting an appointment for an "Eating Disorder program intake" with the Student Health social worker.
