In this zine, we have collected a (very brief) history of ethnic studies in the US. We compare the struggles of students across the US to our own campaign for an ethnic studies department at UChicago.
Race & Ethnic Studies should be a priority for the university administration. Our current academic program is unable to hire professors, leading to a lack of race/ethnic studies courses and research on campus! We are calling on the university to fund a Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies (CRES) Department to fill a crucial gap in scholarship.
