Crusader Days

We are delighted that you have become a member of our community of truth-seekers and -speakers. We strive at the University of Dallas to cultivate wisdom and the other virtues by faithfully orienting ourselves to the true, the good and the beautiful. Crusader Days, our orientation for new students, aims to set you on your journey for these primary goods. One cannot reach a destination simply by knowing where one hopes to arrive; one must also know how to get there. You can think of Crusader Days like your map. Crusader Days will introduce you to the basic elements of the university’s academic, religious and social life; it will give you the opportunity to begin to know your classmates, professors and staff members; it will root you in the traditions that make the University of Dallas what it is; and it will equip you with what you need to begin to thrive at UD. I look forward to getting to know you over these days and those to follow. Yours,

Jonathan J. Sanford, Ph.D. University of Dallas Provost

“Roots must go deep enough to keep you upright and wide enough to keep you nourished. I find my depth at UD through faith and friendship — those roots keep me upright through all the midterm periods and lab write-ups. I find my nourishment through UD's formation — the Core keeps me focused on the most profound root of all, Truth itself. You can't bloom if you don't have roots, so start planting your seeds now.” – Maria Zambrana, Class of 2021
