DR. PATRICK T. HARKER UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE PRESIDENT Patrick T. Harker became the 26th president of the University of Delaware in July 2007. Concurrent with his appointment as president, Dr. Harker is a professor of Business Administration in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics and a professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering in UD’s College of Engineering. In May 2008, Dr. Harker unveiled a sweeping strategic plan, UD’s Path to Prominence, predicated on excellence in undergraduate, graduate and professional education, environmental leadership, global engagement and service to the community. He has established numerous research centers, as well as the Office of Economic Innovation and Partnerships, which stimulates invention and entrepreneurship and translates UD research into economy-driving technologies. To establish Delaware as a health sciences hub, UD has partnered with the region’s leading health care providers in the Delaware Health Sciences Alliance. In February 2000, Dr. Harker was appointed dean of the Wharton School and Reliance Professor of Management and Private Enterprise. He was a senior fellow at the Wharton Financial Institutions
ERIC ZIADY UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS & RECREATION SERVICES Eric Ziady begins his second year as Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Services at the University of Delaware during the 2013-14 season. Ziady arrived at Delaware after spending the previous 14 years at Boston College - most recently as senior associate athletics director for business operations - and nine years before that at Northeastern University. He served as assistant director of athletics at Northeastern during his final four years in Brookline. At Boston College, Ziady was responsible for handling both the long-range fiscal and strategic planning for the department as well as the day-to-day administration of all business and financial operations. In addition, he handled football game scheduling and contract administration, as well as overseeing five of the men’s and women’s athletic programs (football, men’s and women’s golf, and men’s and women’s sailing). Ziady served as chair of both the ACC Women’s Golf Committee as well as the Conference’s Awards Committee. He has previously served on the ACC and Hockey East Finance Committees as well as on competition committees in both the America East (baseball) and Big East (golf) conferences. He has twice served on NCAA certification subcommittees for fiscal integrity, both at Northeastern and BC. A 1988 Providence College graduate, Ziady began his career at Northeastern as an assistant to the athletic director, handling compliance responsibilities, coordinating facility management and operations on game days, and assisting in marketing efforts. In 1991, he was appointed athletic business manager and was responsible for all of the department’s fiscal activities, while also serving as the liaison with outside booster
Center and held a secondary appointment as a professor of Electrical and Systems Engineering at Penn. Previously, Dr. Harker was chair of Wharton’s Operations and Information Management Department. Dr. Harker is a member of the board of directors of Pepco Holdings Inc. and Huntsman Corporation, and a founding member of the board of advisors of Decision Lens Inc. He previously served as a trustee of the Goldman Sachs Trust and Goldman Sachs Variable Insurance Trust. Dr. Harker is a Class B director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and a member of the boards of directors of the NCAA–Division I, Christiana Care Health Systems, First State Innovation, Catholic Relief Services and Easter Seals of Delaware. He is a member of the Regional Leadership Initiative Steering Committee at the Council on Competitiveness, a member of the CEO Council for Growth at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and a trustee of Howard University. Dr. Harker received his B.S.E. and M.S.E. in Civil Engineering in 1981, an M.A. in Economics in 1983 and a Ph.D. in Civil and Urban Engineering in 1983, all from the University of Pennsylvania. When he was named UPS Transportation Professor of the Private Sector in 1991, Dr. Harker became the youngest faculty member in Wharton’s history awarded an endowed professorship. Dr. Harker has published or edited nine books and more than 100 professional articles. From 1996–99, he served as editor-in-chief of the premier journal Operations Research. President George H.W. Bush named Dr. Harker a White House Fellow in 1991, and he served from 1991–92 as a special assistant to FBI Director William S. Sessions. Dr. Harker was named a Fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) in October 2012, and a Charter Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in December 2012. Dr. Harker is married to the former Emily Grace Saaty and is the father of three children.
and support groups. In 1994, Ziady was promoted to assistant director of athletics at Northeastern. He served on the Huskies’ senior management team that planned long-range departmental goals and policies. Included among this group’s assignments was the development of a five-year strategic plan to address Title IX and gender equity issues. Ziady, who earned both a master’s degree in sports management and a master’s of business administration degree from Northeastern, has twice served as a marketing consultant. He is also a member of the College Athletic Business Management Association. In 1990, he worked on a corporate marketing project with the North Atlantic Conference and in 1992, he assisted the Boston Organizing Committee in marketing and fundraising in an attempt to attract national and international amateur events to the city.

BOB SHILLINGLAW HEAD COACH 36TH SEASON AT DELAWARE NORTH CAROLINA ‘74
University of Delaware head lacrosse coach Bob Shillinglaw, one of the nation’s most respected and successful coaches, will begin his 35th season as head coach of the Blue Hen men’s lacrosse program and his 38th season of college coaching overall in 2013. He leads a Blue Hen program that ranks among the nation’s best in NCAA Division I. Over the last eight seasons, the Blue Hens have posted a cumulative record of 77-57 (.583), won 10 or more games five times, captured four Colonial Athletic Association regular season and tournament titles, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament four times. The highlight came during the 2007 season when the Hens knocked off Virginia and UMBC in the first two round of the NCAA Tournament to advance to the NCAA Final Four for the first time in school history. Shillinglaw owns a career record of 281-256 (.523) at Delaware that includes 15 conference titles, including seven in the East Coast Conference, three in the North Atlantic Conference titles, a 1999 America East Conference title, and four CAA titles in 2005 (regular season), 2007, 2010, and 2011. He has led the Blue Hens to NCAA Tournament appearances in 1984, 1999, 2005, 2007, 2010, and 2011. He reached a milestone achieved by just nine other coaches in the history of the game in 2012 when he captured his 300th career victory during the Blue Hens’ season-opening 19-6 win over Detroit Mercy on Feb. 4 in Delaware Stadium. He holds the NCAA all-time, all-divisions record for most career coaching appearances with 578, breaking the record of 510 set by Jack Emmer at Cortland State, Washington & Lee, and Army from 1970 until 2005. Shillinglaw, whose overall career coaching record stands at 305-273 (.528), will enter the 2013 season ranked seventh among all active men’s college coaches for wins, including a No. 4 ranking among NCAA Division I mentors, trailing only Dom Starsia of Virginia (341), John Danowski of Duke (314), and Bill Tierney of Denver (308). He is one of just eighth coaches in NCAA history to win 250 games or more at one school, reaching the mark with a win over Saint Joseph’s in the 2009 season opener. He led the Blue Hens to their finest season in school history in 2007. The Blue Hens went 13-6 overall, captured the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament title, and advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the first time in school history. Delaware stormed past defending national champion and No. 2 seed Virginia by a 14-8 score in the first round, defeated No. 13 ranked UMBC 10-6 in the quarterfinals at Navy, and trailed eventual national champion Johns Hopkins 3-2 late in the third quarter before falling to the Blue Jays 8-3 in the national semifinals before a record crowd of 52,004 fans at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium. Delaware was ranked No. 15 in the final USILA poll - based on the regular season - for the second straight year. The recently completed 2010 and 2011 season also saw the Blue Hens capture the CAA Tour-

nament title and advance to the NCAA Tournament, each time resulting in tough one-goal losses to Atlantic Coast Conference powers. It marked the first time in school history that Delaware advanced to the NCAA Tournament in consecutive seasons. In 2010, the Hens won their final three regular season games to earn a spot in the CAA Tournament and proceeded to defeat No. 12 Drexel 10-6 in the semifinals and top-seed Towson 12-9 in the championship game. The win vaulted the Blue Hens into the NCAA Tournament where Delaware gave No. 4 seed North Carolina all it could handle before falling 14-13 in a classic back-and-forth battle with the Tar Heels. The Hens, led by CAA Player of the Year and Tewaaraton Award finalist Curtis Dickson, finished with a No. 12 final USILA national ranking. In 2011, Delaware lost its final two regular season games but earned the No. 4 and final seed in the CAA Tournament. The Hens then knocked off top seed and No. 8 ranked Hofstra 10-9 on the Pride’s home field in the semifinals and defeated No. 3 seed and 19th-ranked Massachusetts 9-7 on the Minutemen’s home turf in the title game. The Hens earned an NCAA Tournament spot opposite No. 6 ranked Duke and gave the defending national champion Blue Devils all they could handle before falling by a 15-14 margin in the first round. Shillinglaw, 59, is the winningest coach in Delaware’s 64-year lacrosse history and his past accomplishments also include coaching his 1984, 1999, 2005, 2007, 2010, and 2011 teams to NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2007 Final Four appearance, and leading his 1979 squad to a 13-2 mark and being named United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Coach of the Year. He was also named USILA Coach of the Year during the 1999 season when Delaware advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals led by national Player of the Year John Grant. The 1999 season was also one of the finest ever in UD history. The team broke several records, including most wins in a season (14-2); most goals in a season, consecutive wins (11), and best start (8-0). For his efforts, Shillinglaw was named America East Coach of the Year and earned his second USILA Coach of the Year award. Shillinglaw received another big honor in June, 1999 when he was selected as head coach of Team USA for the 1999 inaugural World Cup of Lacrosse. Team USA that defeated Team Canada in a best of three series at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. The Blue Hens enjoyed outstanding campaigns from 2004 until 2007, recording four straight seasons with 10 or more victories for the first time in school history. Delaware was one of only four schools in NCAA

UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE MEN’S LACROSSE COACHING STAFF Division I who won 10 or more games each of those four seasons (2004-07) and only two teams had won more than Delaware’s 46 games during that span. Delaware’s .667 winning percentage was eighth best among teams during that four-year period as well. In 2004, the Blue Hens went 10-6 and advanced to the CAA semifinals. In 2005, the Hens went 11-6 and captured the CAA regular season title. The Hens fell to Towson in the CAA title game in 2005 but earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament where they fell to No. 5 seed Navy 9-7 in the opening round. For his efforts, Shillinglaw was named CAA Coach of the Year. The Blue Hens were ranked nationally both seasons, moving up as high as No. 11 during the 2004 season. In 2006, Shillinglaw led the Blue Hens to a record of 12-5 and a berth in the CAA Championships game before falling to No. 2 ranked Hofstra in the finals. Shillinglaw has been named league coach of the year five times, earning the award in the North Atlantic Conference in 1992, 1993, 1994, and as part of the America East in 1999. His teams have failed to post a winning record in league play just five times in his 34-year tenure, posted an undefeated record 10 times, and won nearly 70 percent of its league regular season contests. A native of Severna Park, Md. where he was a standout football and lacrosse player at Severna Park High School, Shillinglaw is a 1974 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina. Shillinglaw lettered four years in lacrosse for the Tar Heels and served as team captain as a senior. Before coming to Delaware, he was 24-17 in three years as head coach at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He earned his master’s degree from Boston University in 1978. He earned his 200th career victory with an 8-7 overtime win over Hofstra Apr. 14, 2000 and his 200th win at Delaware in 2004 when the Hens downed 18th-ranked Air Force March 20. He earned his 250th career victory in 2006 as the Hens defeated Robert Morris in the final regular season game of the year. He has twice been selected to the coaching staff of the North-South Lacrosse Senior All-Star Classic, serving as South Team head coach in 1987, South co-head coach in 1997, and as an assistant in 1981. Shillinglaw is a past president of the United States Lacrosse Coaches Association and is actively involved in the All-America Advisory Board, and the Rules and Equipment committee of the USLCA, and with the USILA Top 20 Coaches Poll. An Assistant Professor at the University of Delaware, he has published numerous articles in athletic journals as well as lectured at various coaching clinics. He resides with his wife, Tina, in Elkton, Md. They have three grown daughters.

ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH 15TH SEASON AT DELAWARE LOYOLA (MD.) ‘97 Greg Carroll begins his 14th year as head coach Bob Shillinglaw’s top assistant with the University of Delaware men’s lacrosse staff in 2013. He was promoted to the position of associate head coach on Dec. 6, 2005 and will begin his eighth season in that role this season. Carroll, who serves as Delaware’s defensive coordinator, has played a key role in helping the Blue Hens rank among the nation’s top programs during his tenure. Delaware has captured three Colonial Athletic Association Tournament titles in the last six years and advanced to the NCAA Tournament four times in the last eighth campaigns. During his 13 years as an assistant, the Blue Hens have recorded 10 or more wins seven times. He helped guide the Blue Hens to the finest season in school history in 2007. The Blue Hens went 13-6 overall, captured the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament title, and advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the first time in school history. Delaware stormed past defending national champion and No. 2 seed Virginia by a 14-8 score in the first round, defeated No. 13 ranked UMBC 10-6 in the quarterfinals at Navy, and trailed eventual national champion Johns Hopkins 3-2 late in the third quarter before falling to the Blue Jays 8-3 in the national semifinals before a record crowd of 52,004 fans at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium. The Blue Hens put together back-to-back memorable seasons in 2010-11, rallying late in the season to capture the CAA Tournament title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament where they dropped onegoal decisions to nationally-ranked Atlantic Coast Conference teams each year. In 2011, Delaware posted a record of 11-7, capturing the CAA Tournament title with a pair of road playoff wins over No. 8 Hofstra (10-9) in the semifinals and over No. 19 Massachusetts (9-7) in the title game. The Blue Hens drew defending national champion and No. 6 ranked Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and gave the Blue Devils all they could handle before a comeback fell just short in a 15-14 setback in Durham, N.C. The Hens were ranked No. 14 in the final USILA regular season poll. During the 2010 campaign, Delaware won its final three regular season games to earn a spot in the CAA Tournament and proceeded to defeat No. 12 Drexel 10-6 in the semifinals and top-seed Towson 12-9 in the championship game. The win vaulted the Blue Hens into the NCAA Tournament where Delaware gave No. 4 seed North Carolina all it could handle before falling 14-13 in a class back-and-forth battle with the Tar Heels. The Hens, led by CAA Player of the Year and Tewaaraton Award finalist Curtis Dickson, finished with a No. 12 final USILA national ranking. Carroll led Delaware to an 11-6 mark in 2005 when the Blue Hens captured the Colonial Athletic Association regular season crown and advanced to the CAA Tournament championship game before falling to Towson 9-8 in the title game. A native of Long Island, NY, Carroll, 37, was a standout player at Harborfields High School and moved on to a four-year career at Loyola under then head coach Dave Cottle. While with the Greyhounds, Carroll played four varsity seasons, appearing in 40 career games and leading nationally-rand Loyola to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances. After finishing his playing career in 1997, Carroll began his coaching career in 1998 at Severn Prep High School in Severna Park, Md. while finishing his undergraduate studies at Loyola. He moved on to the college ranks where he served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Washington & Lee College in Lexington, Va. While at Washington & Lee in 1999, he helped lead the Generals to a record of 13-2 and a berth in the NCAA quarterfinals. The Generals won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference title with a 6-0 mark and led

Fossner led the Blue Hens to Colonial Athletic Association Tournament championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in both 2010 and 2011 as the team’s starting goalkeeper. He earned second team AllCAA honors as a junior in 2010 and was named to the CAA All-Tournament team in both 2010 and 2011, earning tournament Most Valuable Player honors as a senior in 2011. He also earned the team’s Alumni Association Most Valuable Player Award and the team’s UD Sportsmanship Award as a senior when he also competed in the annual USILA North-South Senior All-Star Game and was selected as the game’s Most Valuable Player. As a three-year starter, Fossner played in 51 career games, logging 3,003 minutes, posting 552 saves, and allowing 483 goals. He set a school record for minutes played with 1,063 in 2011 and ranks No. 2 all-time at Delaware in career minutes played (3,003), No. 3 in career goals against average (9.65), and No. 6 in career saves (552). He also ranks among the all-time UD leaders with a .533 save percentage mark. He was the model of consistency, turning back 184 shots as a sophomore in 2009, 187 as a junior in 2010, and 179 as a senior in 179.

NOAH FOSSNER ASSISTANT COACH FIRST SEASON AT DELAWARE DELAWARE ‘11 Noah Fossner, one of the top goalkeepers in University of Delaware men’s lacrosse history, returned to his alma mater in September, 2013 to serve as assistant coach. Fossner, a native of Niskayuna, N.Y. (Niskayuna HS), comes to Delaware after serving as an assistant coach at Rutgers University in 2012-13. He replaces Rob Cross, who took an assistant coaching position at Siena. Fossner will coach the Delaware goalkeepers and joins a staff that also includes veteran head coach Bob Shillinglaw and associate head coach Gregg Carroll. “We are extremely excited to add Noah to our staff,” said Shillinglaw. “He is one of the outstanding young college coaches in NCAA Division I lacrosse and we are very fortunate to have him return to the University of Delaware. VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT COACH FIRST SEASON AT DELAWARE TOWSON ‘12 Alec Jernstedt, a former standout player at Towson University who worked the last five years as a coach in Oregon and Maryland, joined the University of Delaware men’s lacrosse coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in December, 2013. Jernstedt joins a staff that includes veteran head coach Bob Shillinglaw, associate head coach Greg Carroll, and first-year assistant coach Noah Fossner. A native of Wilsonville, Ore., Jernstedt was a three-year letterwinner at Towson and earned his degree in economics and geography with a minor in business in 2012. He was a Dean’s List student at Towson where he also was involved with P.A.W.S (Proud Athletes Who Serve) and with Athletes in Action. He graduated from Wilsonville (Ore.) High School where he was an All-State midfielder while also competing for the football, basketball, and track & field teams. Originally recruited as an offensive midfielder, he switched to defensive midfielder as a sophomore, played longstick midfield as a junior, and played both positions his final campaign in 2012. Jernstedt played in 32 career games at Towson and helped lead the Tigers to CAA championship game appearances in 2009 and 2010. He recorded 29 groundballs and 11 caused turnovers for his career from his defensive position and also added three goals and an assist. For the past five years, Jernstedt has served as a youth and club lacrosse coach on both sides of the country. He served as the head coach of the Rhino Lacrosse Club in Portland, Ore. in 2009-12 and has worked as a youth coach and marketing director for the Next Level Lacrosse Club in Bethesda, Md. since December, 2012. He has also volunteered as a coach for FCA Lacrosse at the US Lacrosse Under-15 World Championships at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. He and his wife, Kelly Cianciotta, a former softball player at Georgetown University, were married in July, 2013.

With nearly three decades of success athletically and academically, the Colonial Athletic Association has built a reputation as one of the nation’s top collegiate conferences. The CAA encompasses many of the nation’s largest metropolitan areas with a geographic footprint that stretches from Boston to Charleston, S.C. The conference has produced 16 national team champions in five different sports, 33 individual national champions, 13 national players of the year, 12 national coaches of the year and 13 Honda Award winners. Just as impressive, however, are the honors accumulated away from competition, which include five Rhodes Scholars and 23 NCAA post-graduate scholars. In 2012-13, more than 1,900 of the league’s 4,000 student-athletes received the Commissioner’s Academic Award after posting at least a 3.2 grade point average while lettering in a varsity sport. The conference had 23 teams in 15 different sports receive NCAA Public Recognition Awards based on the latest Academic Progress Report released in 2013. The landscape of the conference stretches along the majority of the East Coast, and includes several of the nation’s top media markets – New York (1), Philadelphia (4), Boston (7), Washington, D.C. (9) and Baltimore (25). The number of television homes in the CAA market exceeds 20 million. The CAA conducts championships in 22 sports. Male athletes compete for championships in baseball, basketball, cross counCAA Commissioner try, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis Tom Yeager and track & field. Female athletes battle for conference titles in basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field and volleyball. In 2012-13, 27 teams earned NCAA Tournament berths and 43 student-athletes received All-America honors in 14 different sports. The conference has made its presence known nationally in men’s basketball with two teams – George Mason (2006) and VCU (2011) – advancing to the NCAA Final Four over the past seven years. CAA teams have combined to win 41 games in postseason play since 2006, including 14 victories in the NCAA Tournament. The CAA has posted at least one NCAA Tournament win in six of the past eight years, including the last four in a row. The conference has seen five or more teams reach postseason play in four of the last five seasons. In women’s basketball, 2013 CAA champion Delaware defeated West Virginia and North Carolina to become the 12th CAA team to reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Behind the play of Honda Award winner Elena Delle Donne, the Blue Hens finished the season ranked #13 in the final USA Today Coaches Top 25 poll. Drexel captured the WNIT championship with a 46-43 victory over Utah and James Madison reached the quarterfinals of the WNIT. CAA teams have gone 20-9 in postseason play over the past two years. The conference also excels in many other sports. CAA squads have combined to win 10 field hockey national titles since the championship began in 1981. Three men’s soccer teams earned NCAA Tournament berths last season and each current member of the conference has reached the NCAA Tournament since 2006. In softball, Hofstra reached the NCAA Super Regionals in 2012 and the CAA placed two teams (Hofstra and James Madison) in the NCAA’s for the first time last season. At least two women’s soccer teams have reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament three times in the past six seasons. William & Mary’s men’s cross country squad has made the NCAA Championship in 12 of the past 14 years and the women’s team had two runners (Elaina Balouris and Emily Stites) earn All-America honors in 2012. Delaware and Towson have each reached the Final Four of the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship. The CAA sent three teams to the NCAA Baseball Championship in 2013 and has had at least 11 players selected in nine of the last 11 Major League Baseball drafts. The conference also had individuals earn All-America honors in women’s lacrosse, track and field and swimming & diving last season and had players nationally ranked in tennis and golf. CAA member institutions are committed to excellence in the classroom. The Colonial Academic Alliance was created in 2002 by the league’s presidents with a goal of expanding their partnership to all aspects of university education and life outside of intercollegiate athletics. Among the programs that have been established are an undergraduate research conference, coordination of study abroad programs, visiting faculty programs and a recent partnership with NBC Learn to provide educational videos to over 8,500 public schools across the United States. CAA schools are also very active in community service projects. The CAA Blood Challenge, which is held each fall, has raised more than 36,000 units of blood over the past 11 years. The first-ever CAA Food Drive Challenge last winter resulted in over 9,500 pounds of donated food. Commissioner Thomas E. Yeager has

Tim McDonnell guided the CAA since its inception. The conference traces its roots back to 1983 when two of its current members- James Madison University and the College of William and Mary - were aligned with East Carolina University, George Mason University, the United States Naval Academy and the University of Richmond as a basketball league (ECAC South). During the next two years, the league added 11 sports, acquired two new members (the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and American University) and decided to form a new conference. The transformation from ECAC South to CAA took place on June 6, 1985. Old Dominion University joined the CAA in 1991 and was followed by Virginia Commonwealth University in 1995. The conference added the University of Delaware, Drexel University, Hofstra University and Towson University in 2001. Georgia State University and Northeastern University became members of the conference in 2005 and the College of Charleston began its first year as a CAA member on July 1, 2013. Elon University will join the conference beginning in 2014-15. ATHLETICS FACILITIES BOB CARPENTER CENTER
Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Volleyball
The Bob Carpenter Center, named in honor of longtime University board of trustee member, athletic benefactor, and former Philadelphia Phillies owner R.R.M. “Bob” Carpenter Jr. who died in 1990, serves as home for the University’s basketball and volleyball programs as well as a site for a wide variety of other events such as convocations, concerts, and banquets. Special features of the facility are a 120-person football locker room, men’s and women’s basketball locker rooms, administrative offices, the state-of-the-art Chuck Hall Memorial Weight Room, and athletic training rooms. The BCC also includes a comfortable glass-walled reception lounge area with views into Delaware Stadium and to the Acierno Arena; and a scoreboard with a color video message center. The BCC served as host to the First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
DELAWARE STADIUM
Football, Men’s Lacrosse, Women’s Lacrosse
Built in 1952, Delaware Stadium (Tubby Raymond Field) featured a grass surface until February 2010 when an artificial FieldTurf surface was installed. The stadium seats 22,000, giving Delaware the largest playing facility for lacrosse in the CAA and among the largest in the nation. Prior to the 2000 season, eight poles of permanent broadcast-quality lights were installed by Musco Lighting. In addition, the South End Zone bleachers were also replaced. A new 40 x 34-foot scoreboard, including a 40 x 16 video screen, was installed prior to the 2008 football season and is located at the North end of Delaware Stadium. Live video play-by-play action, replays, and features are shown throughout football, men’s lacrosse, and women’s lacrosse games.
BOB HANNAH STADIUM Baseball
Formerly called Delaware Diamond, Bob Hannah Stadium is the home of the Blue Hen Baseball team. The stadium was renamed in May 2000 in honor of longtime baseball coach Bob Hannah, who announced his retirement after a legendary 36-year career. Features of the stadium include an enclosed press box, an outdoor batting cage, and banners on the outfield fence signifying Delaware’s numerous conference titles and NCAA appearances. The field dimensions are 330 down the left and rightfield lines and 400 to center field while the stadium seats 1,300. Major renovations to the facility will be made prior to the 2014 season including installation of artificial turf, new dugouts and bullpens, batting cages, a seating berm, updated stadium fencing and storage capacity.
SOFTBALL STADIUM
Softball
The stadium includes seating for approximately 500, a dirt infield, and dugouts. Prior to the 2010 season, the stadium underwent renovations to include new bleachers, a press box, new scoreboard, and batting cages.

Field Hockey
This state-of-the-art stadium was dedicated on September 18, 1998. Its construction was made possible, in part, by the generous donation of one UD alumnus: Fred P. Rullo Jr., AS ‘63, a former baseball and football letterwinner, and his wife, Madeleine. Rullo Stadium features an artificial turf surface (Astro Turf-12 surface installed in 2008) covering 122,928 square feet (2.82 acres) permits a full-sized game field for all applicable sports as well as two side-by-side practice areas running across the field. There is bleacher seating for approximately 2,000 fans, lights, a press box, a multi-sport scoreboard and blacktopped parking behind the bleachers.
DELAWARE MINI-STADIUM Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, Outdoor Track & Field
The University of Delaware Mini-Stadium, located just east of the Delaware Stadium, includes fields for soccer and and a quarter-mile all-weather track. The Mini-Stadium is currently undergoing extensive renovations with the installation of a new all-weather track. During the summer of 2000, the Mini-Stadium saw the installation of a new natural grass (Bluegrass) playing surface with a drainage and irrigation system, and television quality light standards. During the summer of 2011, Delaware Mini-Stadium got another facelift. The previous surface, a Rye/Fuscue, mix was replaced with Bermuda grass, making Delaware Mini-Stadium one of the premier natural fields in the Colonial Athletic Association.
RAWSTROM NATATORIUM Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving
The Harry W. Rawstrom Natatorium in Carpenter Sports Building has served as home for the University of Delaware men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams for over nearly 50 years. Rawstrom Natatorium is named in honor of Harry W. Rawstrom, who served as head coach of the Blue Hen men’s swimming and diving team from 1946 until 1981. A member of the UD Athletics Hall of Fame and Delaware Sports Hall of Fame, Rawstrom passed away in 1994. The pool was dedicated and named in his honor in 1991. The 15,000-square foot natatorium includes a 25-yard pool, a diving well with 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform boards, seating for approximately 700 fans, school and pool record boards, an electrical timing scoreboard and offices.
DELAWARE FIELD HOUSE
Indoor Practice Facility
In the summer of 2013, the Delaware Field House was transformed into a firstclass indoor practice facility with an artificial turf surface. The newly renovated field house will allow all teams to use the facility for practices along with strength and conditioning. The facility will contain batting cages to allow the baseball and softball programs to practice indoors.

A leader in international education, UD offered the first study-abroad program in the world in 1923, and celebrates its 90th anniversary of study abroad in 2013. UD ranks third nationally among public doctoral institutions in studyabroad participation. More than one of every three UD undergraduate students (34.7%) studies overseas; programs are offered in nearly 50 countries. In 2010, the Education Advisory Board’s University Leadership Council cited UD’s study-abroad program as a model.
UD’s freshman retention rate, 92 percent, ranks in the 97th percentile among universities nationwide. At 77 percent, UD’s six-year graduation rate is more than 21 percentage points higher than the national average. UD’s four-year graduation rate, 61.8 percent, is nearly double the national average. UD’s Latino and African American students also graduate in numbers far higher than the U.S. average— nearly 23 percentage points higher and 18 points higher, respectively.
UD’s exceptional faculty includes internationally known authors, scientists and artists, among them a Nobel laureate, Guggenheim and Fulbright fellows, members of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering and American Association for the Advancement of Science.

UD has graduated 12 Rhodes scholars since the celebrated program began in 1904. Our most recent Rhodes scholar—2011 graduate Matthew Watters—is now studying global health science at Oxford. UD also produces numerous Marshall and Truman scholars, and has been named a Truman Scholarship Honor Institution for its outstanding record of Truman scholars selected.
Many of UD’s doctoral programs were ranked among the best in the U.S. in a recent National Research Council survey that examined criteria such as student financial support, average time to degree completion, student career plans and diversity of the academic environment. UD graduate programs in physical therapy, engineering, education, business, city management, mathematics and public affairs have been recognized in recent Best Graduate Schools guides published by U.S. News Media Group.
A citation in the Princeton Review once referred to the UD campus as “absolutely the most gorgeous anywhere,” and a 2007 Washington Post story noted, “with its elegant, elongated Green, [UD] is a stunning landscape of Georgian Colonial red-brick, white-columned architecture to rival anything conceived by Thomas Jefferson.”
