ALKI est une coopérative située en plein coeur du Pays Basque. Depuis une trentaine d’années, l’entreprise est connue pour son excellence dans la fabrication de sièges classiques en bois. Située dans une région particulièrement préservée, ALKI a toujours eu conscience de l’importance de l’environnement modernisant régulièrement ses installations et privilégiant l’utilisation de matières naturelles et écologiques. En 2007, sous l’impulsion de son directeur Peio Uhalde et en étroite collaboration avec le designer Jean- Louis Iratzoki, la marque se transforme. Empreinte de son savoir faire ancestral et de technologie, ALKI propose aujourd’hui une lecture contemporaine de la convivialité.

Alki is a cooperative situated in the heart of the Basque Country. Since 30 years, ALKI is known for its excellence in the fabrication of classical wooden chairs Located in a well preserved region, ALKI has always been concerned about environment, regularly modernizing its installations and privileging the use of natural and ecological materials In 2007, the company’s director Peio Uhalde, in close collaboration with the designer Jean-Louis Iratzoki, give an impulse to ALKI: the brand changes. Combining ancestral tradition and modern technology, ALKI now offers conviviality in a more contemporary style.

Né à Saint Jean de Luz en 1965, Jean Louis IRATZOKI est diplômé en Architecture intérieure -École BoulleParis et en Design Industriel à l’École Expérimentale de Madrid. En 1998, il fonde son atelier de Design en Pays Basque et collabore de façon régulière avec d’importantes entreprises françaises, espagnoles et portugaises. Tant au niveau du design que de la direction artistique. Il a obtenu divers prix européens.
Formé à l'École Supérieure de Nancy, il pratique le design dans des agences de renom. En collaboration avec différents studios de design tel que Antonio Citterio, Rodolfo Dordoni à Milan puis Arik Levy à Paris, il travaille actuellement comme designer indépendant.
Ever since he opened his own workshop in 1998, Jean Louis IRATZOKI has been committed to the creation of articles impregnated with an emotional value, where the respect for nature, character and restraint give form to a contemporary but simultaneously authentic product. A philosophy which has garnered diverse European awards.
He trained in the Higher College of Nancy, subsequently working as a designer in prominent design studios for companies such as Antonio Citterio, Rodolfo Dordoni in Milan, after with Arik Levy in Paris, he set himself up as a freelance designer.

Des bandes de bois, cintrées puis assemblées entre elles avec précision et délicatesse. Un élégant et précis exercice de tressage pour lequel nous avons associé le savoir faire de l’homme et la technologie de pointe du contrôle numérique. This collection is inspired by traditional baskets. (“SASKI” means Basket in the Basque language). Strips of wood are first bent and then assembled together with extreme precision and delicacy. For this elegant and accurate braiding exercise, we have combined man’s know-how and high technology.

Il s’agit d’une collection inspirée des Dolmens (Triku Harri en basque) aux proportions simples, généreuses. Une collection intemporelle qui propose des matières essentielles : le bois, la laine et la pierre. This is a collection inspired by Dolmens (“TRIKU HARRIA” in the Basque language). Equilibre en basque se dit OREKA. Trois points d’appuis pour cette table qui se déploie au grès des envies. Les plateaux en chêne et la structure métallique existent en plusieurs finitions. “OREKA” in the Basque language means “Balance”. Three support points for this table that opens out in according to one’s desires. The oak wood tops and the metallic structure can be made in different finishes.

Un système de poutre sur lequel se fixent boîtes, tablettes et assises de différentes proportions. La famille LAIA s’agrandit, pour rendre la zone d’accueil conviviale et chaleureuse. Il existe 3 longueurs (3,4 et 5 places) avec de nombreuses combinaisons possibles. A beam system on which different sizes of boxes, shelves and seats are fixed. LAIA family grows in order to make the reception area more friendly and cozy. An important variety of combinations is possible: the number of seats (3,4 or 5), the seats height, the number of shelves and boxes, the color of the different units…
