Flexible and online learning at the University of Delaware goes back a long way, to when distance learning meant a working adult student told us he packed a VCR and VHS lecture tapes so he could keep up with his UD engineering coursework while on a business trip to China.

UD counts itself among the leaders of online and distance learning, from its original launch in 1988 with videotaped lectures for a few degree programs, evolving and expanding into today’s dynamic virtual classroom. Now encompassing hundreds of classes and new online degrees launched every year, UD’s resources and expertise in online learning helped faculty and departments across UD adapt and meet the challenges of a total virtual campus, necessitated during the pandemic.

This year alone, four UD online graduate degree programs have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report in its 2022 U.S. News Best Online Programs or Best Online Programs for Veterans lists, ranked on factors like engagement, faculty credentials and training, student excellence, and student services and technologies.
