Immersion experiences are hands-on opportunities for students to gain real-world experience and a competitive edge when applying for a job. Industry professionals and faculty work alongside students to prepare them for their career right after graduation.

Innovation News Center (INC)

The Innovation News Center is the home of the College’s news, weather and sports operations, and includes Spanish-language programming. It provides nearly 100 seats for reporters, producers and editors to work together on reporting the news for the College’s many distribution channels. The Agency

The Agency develops real-world campaigns for local, regional and national clients to help build brand loyalty among emerging consumers. The Agency hires students from a variety of majors once per semester. It is housed on the first floor of Weimer Hall. Go to theagency.jou.ufl.edu to learn more.

Atlas Lab

The Atlas Lab is a state-of-the-art facility for students, faculty and staff to develop an expertise in analyzing digital media dynamics, behavior and conversations. Find more information at jou.ufl.edu/atlas-lab.

GHQ Student Radio

Practice engaging a young adult audience with entertainment and news content through an over-theair signal, social media and mobile apps.

GatorVision/SEC Network

GatorVision provides “in house” sports coverage of the Florida Gators for the University Athletic Association. Get hands-on experience in the field shooting, gripping and working in the production trucks and/or production suites during live Florida athletic events.

Knight Talks

Knight Talks is an engaging student-produced talk show that delves into the captivating stories of media professionals, as well as esteemed alumni, faculty and staff. Knight Talks airs Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. on WUFT-TV and Wednesdays at 11:30 p.m. on WUFT-FM, and streams on YouTube and PBS.org.

IMMERSION IN THE CLASSROOM INCLUDE:

WUFT-FM Programming Department

Research content creation and marketing strategies deployed by one or more of the College’s media brands. Track and examine audience analytics to recommend improvement plans.

WUFT-FM Live Segment Producer

Identify compelling local issues and set up live interviews with the stakeholders involved. Topics will vary, and interviews may be conducted over the phone or live in the studio.

WUFT-FM Associate Producer Experience

Write stories, record interviews, edit sound and assist the main anchor/producer to create content for morning or afternoon drivetime on WUFT-FM.

Intro to WRUF ESPN Gainesville Experience

ESPN Gainesville 98.1 FM is the flagship station for The Florida Gators. Contribute content online via the station’s website, and cover local high school sports and Santa Fe College.

LIVE Gator Sports Broadcast Experience

ESPN WRUF, in conjunction with the University Athletic Association (UAA) and IMG, offers training in the art of live sports broadcasting, from play-by-play to color commentary, and the production of high-quality sports content.
