Member Spotlight
MEMBER SPOTLIGHTS
For this month’s member spotlight, I asked these members to share what they did over winter break. Zack also shared some advice for our members!
D’AMOUR EDWARDS “For most of Winter Break, I caught up on sleep but towards the end, I visited Canada. Cold was an understatement, in my opinion, it was freezing. But that didn’t stop me from celebrating the new year and visiting Toronto. All in all, it was a fun time, I got to practice the French I clearly forgot, travel on a streetcar, hold a loonie, see the Orange and Blue game at a Canadian bar and grill and spend time with family. Oh, I also saw snow for the first time!”
ZACK CASELLA “I am thankful for my family and friends for supporting me all the time and giving me insight and advice to help make great and impactful decisions. Especially, I am thankful for volleyball for helping me take my mind off the stressful school days and making so many memories playing the sport I love. If I could share one thing with our members it would be to photograph or video as many memories as you can because you’ll appreciate it looking at them later in life.” Page 10

District Updates
DISTRICT UPDATES Resolution Against Destitution
Jan. 13 - Feb. 1 For the month of January, FLACKI will be hosting a competition towards the Governor’s Project, “The Back to Basics Initiative.” All six divisions will be competing to see which can raise the most money and serve the most hours fighting resource scarcity in Florida and the Cayman Islands.
The Back to Basics Initiative focuses on three areas: food, water, and shelter. These are basic survival necessities yet literally billions of people struggle daily with proper access to at least one of these three things. The competition will run from January 13th to February 1st, ending with a District Large Scale Service Project (DLSSP) where CKI members from across the district will meet at to work towards one goal.
FLACKI District Convention Feb. 15-16 District Convention is a district-wide celebration of the success of members and clubs. It allows us to prepare for the following year by electing the new District Board that will carry us all into the new service year. This year’s DCON will be held in Orlando! Page 12
