During her time in CKI, she hopes "to be more involved in the community and feel more at home here at the university. I also want to meet so many more people and grow my friendships with the lovely CKI members I have met so far." Zack Casella Zack is a fourth-year student who has been in CKI his entire time at UF! He had a lot to say about his time in the club, so I've decided to make it Q&A style! What keeps you coming back to CKI? "The people!! I have made so many lifelong friends through CKI! Everyone is so nice, funny, and passionate about their goals, making it an amazing atmosphere to be around! This club offers so many opportunities to get involved with the Gainesville community and network with a diverse group of people making it a truly special club! There are also so many fun events going on throughout the week that allow you to meet new people, experience new places, and foster your interests!"

Favorite CKI memory? "This is too hard hahaha (I have too many)!!! Freshman year it would have to be either Tori and I planning the St. Augustine event (biggest service event of the spring semester) or winning beach volleyball intramurals (more than just a service org). Sophomore year it would have to be hijacking spring lock-in to plan Survivor lock-in (still salty about coming in second) or big/little reveal (Kendall and Shanyn are the best)!! Ask me about any of them, I love to talk about them!" Reflect on your time in the club. "Being in CKI has given me the opportunity to explore more of what Gainesville has to offer and has allowed for me to make a difference in the community. This club is so special to me and has given me so many countless memories that I’ll never forget (even some of the embarrassing ones)!" Fast Facts: Major: Applied Physiology and Kinesiology Favorite Tenet: Fellowship Hobbies: "When I’m not doing schoolwork or at CKI, you will always find me at SW Rec playing beach volleyball! I also love to read and ride my bike on new nature trails!"

Lock-In

Lock-In Contributor: Sam Beazley

Our annual Fall Lock-In is one of our biggest events of the year! With a 12-hour lineup of service events, games, and fundraisers, our members had a blast at our Slumber Party-themed Lock-In this year. Our service chairs, Alexia and Rachel, did an awesome job planning and executing this awesome night!

Our usual Lock-In traditions such as writing Warm and Fuzzies and sending members to Jail continued. The night started off with icebreakers and Big/Little Reveal. Then, we were able to hear some great advice from Gainesville Kiwanian Sheila Dickison. This was followed by our Pizza fundraiser!

Lock-In

After pizza, we started our first service event and wrote encouraging letters to graduating high school seniors.

Our first social event involved splitting into teams and playing intense rounds of sack races, musical chairs, and spoon races!

Next, we focused on Recruitment. We had members adding to our new banner, creating flyers, or filming a new TikTok video. Shoutout to Amelia for making the TikTok!

Lock-In

Then, we did Circle Time. This is a Lock-In tradition in which we talk about why we joined CKI and share our CKI experiences so far!

After a quick snack break, our next service event was dog toy making, a popular event among CKI members.

We played a game of trivia on movies, music, TV shows, and UF! Then, we did some online service on Free Rice and Zooniverse.

Another Lock-In tradition: Lip Sync Battle! Congrats to Kate for winning with her rendition of "Freak the Freak Out" from Victorious!

We woke ourselves up with the Wink Game, a high-speed winking game involving running and catching!

We made origami cranes, played This or That, and ended our night with a final service event: PB&J sandwich-making for Grace Marketplace!

Big/Little Reveal

Big/Little Reveal Contributor: Sam Beazley

This year's Big/Little Reveal was at the beginning of our Lock-In. Our MD&E chair, Amelia, was in charge of pairing up the bigs and littles and coordinating this creative reveal. Littles entered an elevator on the first floor and were surprised by their big on the second floor!
