LEARN MORE In the Florida District, every year the District Governor picks a service project or initiative that the District emphasizes throughout the service year. This year, Josephine’s Governor’s Project is The Back to the Basics Initiative. The Back to the Basics Initiative is related to three basic survival necessities that many people lack access to. These necessities are food, water, and shelter. The initiative will also put an emphasis on individualized community attention, local and global community engagement, and collective impact. Page 2

Monthly Welcome
MONTHLY WELCOME Hello everyone. EdiTori here! October was packed with all sorts of CKI activity. From CKI Week to Trick or Treat for the Homeless, we made sure our members were staying busy. Each month, I am reminded of how incredible the people are here in CKI. As November begins, we hunker down If you’d like to contribute to the newsletter, please email me at editor.ufcirclek@gmail.com
for exam season and welcome the breezy air. Amidst those busy moments where it feels like a whirlwind of everything, CKI helps calm me down. My wish is for you all to take some time this month to reflect on the semester thus far and appreciate your growth. As always, I hope you enjoy this month’s newsletter.

Member Spotlight
MEMBER SPOTLIGHT ALEXIA WALKER
Alexia Walker had her mind set on CKI before she even started at UF. She said I she was in Key Club in high school and loved the atmosphere the Kiwanis family created. “Armed with the knowledge of the friendly atmosphere of the Kiwanis family and my issues with socializing, I knew joining CKI would be a great start to college.” LOOKING AHEAD “This month I am decidedly excited about Lock-In. I was unable to attend last year, and I know I missed something amazing. So this month I am going to make sure I get the full experience.”
Something people wouldn’t expect from her: “I hate prediminany romance genre in anything: movies, shows, books, etc.” Page 8
A second-year double major in chemistry and criminology, she is preparing for a life of helping others. Alexia recently served as a team captain at this year’s Leadership Training Conference. “I was able to connect to others outside of our UF CKI family and make amazing friends. It also gave me a chance to delve back into leadership which is important in CKI.”
