In the history of great whoopsies, this one has to be right up there.

NASA have admitted that the Curiosity rover’s expedition to Mars may be jeopardised – that Curiosity may, in fact, jeopardise the future of the planet Mars itself.

Say what?

It seems that a drill bit, designed to drill through Martian rock, may have been slipped into Curiosity’s toolbox without undergoing the appropriate decontamination procedures.

In fact, NASA knows the drill bit didn’t go through the appropriate decontamination process.

So what happened?

One of the technicians on the project, fearing for the safety of Curiosity’s tools during the extreme landing it would endure, decided to slip in an extra drill bit, just in case. Without washing it.

Without, apparently, even washing his hands. Consequently, the bit – and every other tool in the case – is now contaminated with bacteria.

What does that mean for the Mars mission? It means that, even should Curiosity find life on Mars, unless that life is bigger than a microbe, then NASA has no way of knowing if that life form was indigenous to the planet or if it rode in from Earth on a drill bit.

More worryingly, it also means that NASA is concerned what may happen should the drill bit puncture through a rock and actually find a body of water.

The microbes on the bit will enter the water and procreate and multiply and maybe even evolve. Another planet full of humans? Good grief!

So what is NASA doing about this?

Rather than simply not open the box, they’re spending their time hoping against hope that they don’t come across any water. Given the nature of the mission, part of which was indeed to look for water, that’s a bit of a selfdefeating wish. And given that NASA is also looking for life, with the current contamination situation, finding it will now be meaningless. In fact, anything they might find will be tainted by error and misjudgement and, from our perspective, misinformation.

Seems to me that the Curiosity mission is doomed before it begins…..

marcH-June 2012 Carrara, March 8 2012, 1.30pm On the 8th March 2012 at approximately 1.30pm I was hanging washing on the line in my backyard when I heard a very high-pitched, although soft, sound in the sky for about three minutes. I looked to where I heard the sound coming from overhead, but I could not see anything except a weird distortion of light in the clear blue sky. I was staring at it when there was a sudden loud noise and then nothing more.

There were no other sounds around. It was a very quiet afternoon. It seemed weird to me but perhaps you can make something of it.

Port Douglas, April 3 2012, 2.30am A friend and I witnessed a dancing light in the sky between the hours of 2:30am and 3:15am this morning 3rd April. We were sitting on a beach at Port Douglas Qld. I looked into the clear night sky as we were talking about the moon disappearing behind the mountains when I noticed far off, high in the distance, a silver blue twinkling star which I hadn’t noticed there earlier in the night.

As I lit up a smoke I saw the light slowly move from side to side across the sky. I pointed the light out to my friend, and as we both zoned in on the light it started moving at a unbelievably fast speed, so erratic yet with no effort at all. As we discussed what it could be we noticed another light blinking in another part of the sky. We believed that this second object would have been an aircraft. The unidentified light had seemed to have stopped. We settled back down into the sand and continued talking, then the light started moving again, almost

seeming like it was splitting into two and back into one again. We watched this show for 45 minutes or so before packing up and leaving the beach as the early morning cold had settled in.

It’s not the first time I have seen lights in the night sky. But this time I was not alone. It was awesome to experience this with another person.... It made the car ride home very interesting.

North Brisbane, Friday April 21 2012, 1.26am I awoke when my wife went to the bathroom, and as I was lying in bed deciding whether to go myself, I looked out of the bedroom and noticed a flickering orange light through the leaves of a tree in the back yard. I got out of bed and went to the window and saw two large lights travelling in tandem, coming slowly across from the north. The lights were large in comparison to normal aircraft lighting and there was no strobe lighting. The lights were steady and moving slowly. Because of light cloud cover it was difficult to determine height.

I called my wife to come and see. We both couldn’t understand what it could be. It was not helicopters, because of the size of the lights and the consistency of distance between them. They did not seem to lose or gain any height during this time, which was about four minutes, before moving around to the western sky and gradually becoming lost in cloud. The positioning of the lights became vertical the further west it travelled and seemed to indicate a single object.

The colour was exactly the same on both lights. Movement could be seen on the very outside rim of the light. The light shape was more squarish than round. I looked at the bedside light during the sighting and it read 1.26am. I ran

downstairs to the backyard to see if I could get a video on my camera, but was unable. I have absolutely no idea what it was. There was no noise, before, during or after the sighting, and as I was running down the stairs to the back garden, my wife said the object appeared to stop and change direction. I also saw the change of flight path, but not the halt. I couldn’t go back to sleep so I thought I would record what we had seen while it was fresh.

Toowoomba, April 20 2012, 8.15pm My husband and I have been watching a light for 15 minutes. It has not moved and is a bright light with orange, red and blue lights flashing around it. It is in the north eastern sky. We live in Toowoomba, Queensland.

Casino (NSW), June 3 2012, 7.00pm Standing outside in South Casino facing north, myself and two friends witnessed two lights the colour of fire in the sky.

One was above the other light, about 50 metres above. They seemed to be moving south and we put it down to being helicopters until both objects seemed to turn east behind a very small cloud and totally disappeared. We had not been drinking.

Amberley, June 9 2012, 8.10am This morning near Amberley (9/06/12) while watching the setting moon at 8.10am through my telescope, I noticed two identical streaks of cloud parting in what appeared to be a perfect arc. The second (thinner) cloud parted from east moving in a westerly direction about five minutes after I noticed the first arc above me. There was no wind at the time but I assumed the clouds were high in altitude.

Paradise Point, June 29 2012, 12.40pm I saw a UFO today around 12:40pm at Paradise Point Queensland. At first it looked like a plane with light reflecting off it, but it was hovering for a few seconds than vanished. This is the second time I’ve seen this.

Brisbane, June 29 2012, 2.45am I saw something strange while driving home from a friend’s house at 2:45am 6/4/2012, and thought I’d let you know.

The object was appearing to hover, it had three lights — one red, one white, and a blue light that was blinking. I wrote it off at first as an airplane until I watched it. It seemed to hover for about three minutes, remaining stationary, then it moved very quickly inland, taking only two minutes to clear a large distance in a linear fashion. It kept lower than the domestic or international flights I’ve seen. I did a quick check to see if there were any flights due to depart or arrive at the Brisbane airport, both international or domestic, and there was one scheduled flight to leave at 2:30 which would have made the timing correct, but just to make sure I double checked and the flight was still boarding at the terminal. I tried to get a snapshot but it was blurred out by a streetlight unfortunately. As far as trajectory, the object headed in a northwest direction, and as an estimate I’d say it would have flown over or close by Crows Nest or Esk.

Broadbeach, 1980 (reported June 2012) After reading about the recent sightings on the Gold Coast area in the Gold Coast Sun newspaper, I am drawn to share mine and my husband’s experience so many years ago, which happened over Broadbeach. While completely unrelated to these recent sightings, and 22 years ago, it still seems like yesterday and gives us chills when describing it to others.

We were looking out the window of the Broadbeach house and noticed what looked like a falling star coming down east over the direction of the ocean. This ball of light did not die out like a falling star would — instead the brilliance of the light got stronger and we thought it was a plane turning. However, this thing actually stopped in mid-air. Literally stopped. A second or two later the ball got very bright and a second object came out of the original shape.

These objects started moving almost like they were dancing in mid-air, going up down and around each other. Within the next few seconds they starting doing an aerial display, and then together they took off with phenomenal speed out of sight. We ran outside as fast as we could

but they had already vanished. We were so stunned we were trying to debunk what we had just seen.

There were no clouds in the sky -- no beams of light coming from the ground.

There were no planes around -- definitely not ones that could do that speed. That was an insane speed. The colour was a yellowish glow.

This occurred around midnight around the 22nd of December. It was my birthday -- we had not been partying and were not drinking at all.

Roma, September 19, 1998 (reported July 2012) It was late at night, around 1.00am, and I was staying at a friend’s house overnight. Myself and two others were sitting outside stargazing when we saw what we thought was a satellite passing overhead. It was a bright white light that was only slightly brighter than the stars around us. However, its movements soon became erratic — it suddenly zoomed at a right-angle to its original heading and appeared to come closer (it got brighter and slightly larger). It then changed direction again and began zipping back and forth in the sky, changing direction at random and moving way too fast to be a plane and executing turns which no plane could possibly do — especially given how far away the object looked. It never got brighter or larger then Venus looks in the sky, and most of the time it was only a little brighter then the other stars around it. However it did appear to come closer before zipping further away again. It covered a huge amount of space in the sky and continued its movements for at least 20 minutes before it suddenly executed another impressive turn and shot across the sky, vanishing into the distance. My friends and I were rather spooked by it and at the time were too scared to call for others while it was above us. Even though it was incredibly far away, there was something quite frighting about it.

gone. When I got there, the object was stationary over the school basketball court and had changed its colour from a glowing white ball to orange and yellow.

It was shaped like a top.

I stood there for three or four minutes just watching it. It was about 10 metres off the ground, and it was about 10 metres wide and 20 metres high and absolutely silent. I ran home to get a camera, but when I got there the Polaroid was out of film.

I ran back to the school, which was 300 metres away, and the object was on the move. That’s when I realised that it had changed to a glowing white ball while it was on the move. It was orange to yellow when stationary, showing the full shape of it, with what I made out to be black lights around the centre bulge, and white when it was moving.

I ran back to tell Dad and get him to follow it in the car. We went down to the school oval and saw it heading out towards the dump road, so we followed it out for about 5 kilometres. It stopped out near a house and went down behind it. We waited for awhile, and when it came back up it seemed to be getting bigger, as if it was heading our way.

At this point I got scared and got Dad to get out of there. He must have been scared too because I remember him doing 100 miles an hour back into town, I watched back a lot and the UFO seemed to be getting bigger and closer, but I lost sight of it when we arrived back into town.

Kingaroy 1977 (reported July 2012) I am not sure of the date now, but when I was 15 years old I was driving home from the town basketball court with my mum, when she saw a large glowing white ball come down from the left hand side of the windshield and pointed it out to me. The first thing she said was it was a star, but it was too big to be a star, and it was moving.

ALAN’S STORY

1996: TWEED HEADS, Nth NSW

REPORT THANKS TO PETER MATIC, UFORQ GOLD COAST AFFILIATE Back in 1996, a mate and I (Alan) witnessed an object far away on the horizon to the east across the sea. It was a cloudy, warm night as the moonlight filtered through the spaces between the clouds. As we watched this thing sliding across the sky, seemingly under the base of the clouds and above the waters, it appeared to be flickering on and off from darkness to bright lights over its surfaces.

When I had first sighted it way out as just a flicker, I could see that its trajectory was making an arc towards where we were standing at the edge of the local (Tweed Heads, northern NSW, Australia) Jack Evans Boat Harbour. This was, and became, an encounter of dynamic proportions for me...

I have a lengthy background as an Artisan.

A good bit of my work experiences was spent as a worksite inspector with ‘Bechtel,’ the largest construction company in the world. In fact, George Bush the elder is its CEO and is in charge of rebuilding much of Iraq’s destruction today.

My mate and I were stunned and almost

speechless as this thing (UFO) came all the way up to us, within just 50 metres and only 10 metres above the water’s surface of the Boat-Harbour. It silently slid by our very eyes to fly straight through all the high-rise buildings of Greenmount (Coolangatta), as if matter didn’t exist.

In all my technological experiences, along with our modem knowledge of laser-beam light sciences, and other related investigations, I have pieced together the following interpretive observations of this UFO encounter.

I sought to develop a fuller knowledge of this UFO thing because to me it was a very real fact, particularly in the sense that I was able to compare notes (for years afterwards) with my mate and fellow witness as we shared this same sighting experience.

The UFO was as black as the ace of spades - inside and out. It was also transparent, as it has an inside/outside appearance much like that of a see-through jelly-fish.

And yet it is solid and takes its colors from within its own core-structure. Here it is

like the florescence-creatures of the deep, deep depths of the dark seas; and like an octopus it can change its cloak to look like anything it wishes to emulate. Thus it can confuse any viewer(s) of its true identity very easily by changing its coloration and form to appear to be part of the background scene that surrounds it. This allows it to be both everything and nothing. It is able to reflect the light of any physical source over its surfaces as it makes its numerous global visits.

At night it is black like a shadow and can easily hide in the darkness; and in the day it shines super mirror bright to blind our eyes -- yet it is detectable to the trained eye by the way it reflects the angles of different rays of light. I knew this immediately when I first saw it, but there was so much going on in its liquid-like translucent make-up that one can easily be distracted and lose one’s focus. Of course, as an Artisan, I could take the images of this experience into my personal studio, which is my inner sanctuary, and contemplate the sense of what I had and was still seeing... “Seeing is believing”,

which was the “title-heading” re the UFO stories re Channel 9, TV Documentary (AUS) 17th April, 2005, in which many of the viewer’s descriptions aligned with what my mate and I witnessed in 1996. 1 have drawn it many times over the years and, more recently, I completed a painting/etching of it, which was displayed at the Murwillumbah Regional Art Gallery in their Dec-Jan 2004/5 art prize exhibition, from which I received many peoples enquiries on the matter.

More recently, I have been able to discern a bigger picture of this UFO. It flew straight through the bases of the high-rise buildings as if matter really didn’t exist. That capacity had me stumped until I came across more recent findings regarding the nature and properties of light.

This UFO is not a craft, nor did it have little green men inside it. It is a living entity, about 175 metres diameter, like two plates on top of each other and about five building stories high. Massive, yet absolutely silent in its seemingly endless configurations.

It is cloaked in something like the laser prism of light, and my proposal holds that its body-cloak is composed of the primaldark-light matter from its dimension of the deep darkness of the edge of the void; that instant of time after the moment (creation) of the big bang.

In summary then, this UFO is likened to looking at the black coke in a soft drink bottle. Clear “glass-pattemed” surfaces look black because its transparency allows

you to see both the blackness and colors on the inside reflected on the under-side of its outer.

At the same time its outside surfaces (cloak) reflects the light of the sun, moon or stars filtered through the screen of the background things surrounding it, so it can change its surface caricature and hence seem to rapidly disappear. It can shapeshift into forms that will confuse any viewer(s).

EXPLAINED Very few people would argue, these days, that we are alone – that mankind is the only higher order sentient life-form inhabiting the immensity of the Cosmos. Even scientists have begun, begrudgingly, to admit that the Earth being an isolated oasis of intelligence in a Universe otherwise devoid of advanced civilizations is highly unlikely.

Where scientists and ordinary people part company, however, is on the issue of visitation. Is ET, for whatever reason, coming here to check in on us? Ordinary people see the mounting evidence - often with their own eyes – they read the reports, watch the videos and generally accept that there is ‘something going on’ that they are not being told about. Scientists, on the other hand, have a severe impediment when it comes to accepting the presence of alien spacecraft in our benighted skies.

Their model of physical reality emphatically precludes the feasibility of interstellar travel. If ET is, therefore, coming here to visit then everything they think they know will be proven wrong.

So who is in error? Are the ever increasing numbers of witnesses to strange aerial phenomena mistaken? Or is it the scientists with their, perhaps, fatally flawed theories who are missing the point?

The simple fact of the matter is that, if you have seen something strange in the sky or you believe that the testimony of witnesses and the burgeoning amount of photographic/video evidence to be credible, then you are also going to have to accept that our scientists: our arbiters of truth, are leading us away from – and not toward – an understanding of realitywhich allows for travel between star systems.

That is what I am going to attempt to provide for the reader here: an understanding of reality that allows for interstellar travel. The weird thing about travelling to the stars, however, is the fact that – in order to achieve it – we have to cut out the actual ‘travelling’ bit.

Interested? Read on.

First of all I’m going to have a look at what conventional wisdom has to say about the totality of energy/ matter within the Cosmos. The first law of thermodynamics tells us that energy must be conserved - that it can be neither created nor destroyed. Now all of the energy (along with all of the matter) that, at present, comprises our Universe was created – we have been told – in one blinding flash of creation: the Big Bang. There is, however, a problem with the Big Bang theory. It was originally conceived as an explanation for why the Cosmos is expanding. The galaxies are all moving apart, it was argued, because – originally - the total mass of the Universe was wrapped up within an infinitely small, infinitely dense singularity. Fourteen billion years ago the singularity exploded and the expansion began. This expansion, it was then thought, would eventually be slowed down and then reversed by gravity. This is not happening. The expansion of the Universe is still accelerating exponentially. To account for this the theorists have postulated the concept of ‘dark energy’. Now if dark energy is driving the accelerating expansion we have to ask the question: for how long has it been doing so? If the answer to this is fourteen billion years then the Big Bang need never have happened.

Further to this an accelerating expansion would require, with every passing nanosecond, more and more – ie, newly created – dark

energy which directly contravenes the conservation law. So the conventional wisdom has got it seriously wrong and needs to be dispensed with.

Now new theories, as a rule, usually propose new laws to explain different aspects of physical reality. I am going to take an old law: the Zeroth law, and apply it in a way that was never intended by its original proponents. The Zeroth law is a sort of prequel to the laws of thermodynamics written after the fact – it goes like this: energy will always flow from a hot reservoir to a cold reservoir. Another way to express this would be to say that a hot body in a cold medium will radiate heat until the body and the medium reach thermal equilibrium.

Yet another way to describe this law – the way most relevant to my version of events – goes like this: all quantum entities and systems exist at their lowest possible ground state (their lowest possible energy level) and, after being disturbed (raised to a higher energy level) by some outside force or agency, will always return to that ground state.

(NB there are exceptions to this that – along with other related material I will not, for the sake of brevity, be going into here. For a full exposition of my theory please follow the link to ‘Quantum Reality’ provided at the end of this article. PD) All of this is not just esoteric mumbo jumbo – it does have practical applications in the real world. Take, for instance, an old fashioned light bulb. When electricity (a stream of electrons: our ‘outside force or agency’) flows along the nichrome wire in the bulb the electrons give up (transfer) some of their energy to the sub-atomic particles (quantum entities) that comprise the atoms/ molecules (quantum systems) that, in turn, comprise the wire. These

particles now exist at a raised energy level. To return to the ground state the particles have to get rid of this excess energy. They achieve this by emitting photons (quanta of electromagnetic radiation), in the form of heat/light, and the bulb glows.

Now that we are all au fait with the Zeroth law (my apologies to those of you who were already familiar with it) we can now apply it in a way that has never been considered before – we can now apply it to the Universe as whole – as a single quantum system.

What we now need to decide is what constitutes the ultimate - zero energy - ground state of the Cosmos.

I’ll put that another way. What is the diametric opposite of existence? The answer is, of course, non-existence.

Now most people would perceive a state of non-existence be a void: a big, black empty space. This is wrong.

Absolute nothingness means that not even space exists.

There is also the argument that – because it possesses no properties – absolute nothingness cannot, in any way, affect matters within spacetime and so should not be brought into the equation. This is also wrong (please bear with me here).

An understanding of how what I am going to term non-space interacts with space-time is crucial, for it will allow us to put together a model of reality that coherently explains all phenomena and brings together all forces to unite them under one overarching principle.

What I am going to do now is ask the reader to consider a rather novel concept. Does nonproperties equate, necessarily, with no properties? Non-space is a ‘place’ that is, to our minds, virtually impossible to visualize. Nonetheless we can, with confidence, safely assume that it is totally lacking any form of dimensionality – that it is spatially and temporally nondimensional. The fact that nonspace possesses these nonproperties means that it is infinite in extent (size and distance now become meaningless) and duration (time cannot now pass – nor is it restricted to moving in only one direction).

So how does the world we know interact with this other reality? To establish this we must first of all take

a familiar truism and stand it on its head. We all know that nature abhors a vacuum – in non-space terminology this becomes: nature abhors a volume. What to us is solid, possesses presence and mass, in non-space becomes a void, a vacuity that cannot be tolerated.

These raised energy regions need to be filled up, dissipated or displaced by non-space if it is to reinstate its former symmetry.

I will expand on this concept further by taking us back to the beginning – to the first ever event. The Universe began with the spontaneous appearance of a single particle. Now for anything to exist there must first be provided a space within which it can reside.

This tells us what that first particle was: it was a particle of space-time or sparticle. Its appearance was generated by the merest of vibrations, a ripple or murmur – a shadowy, symmetry breaking event which caused non-space to become rucked up and folded in on itself. Nonspace had, in effect, become quantified.

‘Faster than instantaneous.’ This phrase describes the speed with which non-space reacted to the sparticle’s presence. Remember, in non-space, Time’s arrow has no meaning. So much so that the

appearance of the sparticle and the reaction to it become indistinguishable, they both become the same event.

Before we take a closer look at the new arrival please note that much of what I am going to say about the structure and behavior of sparticles also holds true for material particles and photons: as all three entities conform to a single cosmic paradigm.

What we must first decide with regard to quantum entities (sparticles, particles, photons) is are they, indeed, particles or are they waves? Now to prevent us from getting bogged down in the nowyou-see-me-now-you-don’t world of duality and the uncertainty principle I’m simply going to describe the physical reality of (in this case) a sparticle and then explain why it is the way it is.

Sparticles are closed waveforms. If you had a microscope powerful enough to examine one closely what you would see is a tiny doughnut shaped object. This, however, is not the totality of the sparticle. The doughnut shape that you are looking at only represents what I have called the focal locality of the sparticle: this is where the greater part of the sparticle’s mass is concentrated – or focused - at

that particular moment in time. The totality of the sparticle actually extends outward to infinity.

Remember size is immaterial – our sparticle is, also, actually composed of non-space, and nonspace itself equates with the infinite void.

Before we can understand the forces that both create and dictate the behaviour of sparticles and other quantum entities, we first need to know where these forces originate from.

Look at figure 1. It is essentially a scale diagram with items toward the top representing objects in the macro-cosmic Universe whilst items toward the bottom represent their microcosmic counterparts.

You will see that levels 1 and 4 are both labeled non-space. Level 1 represents the ‘space’ that the Universe is, right now, expanding into. Level 4 represents the ‘space within’ – the ‘space’ below the quantum threshold. They both are, of course, the same place but it will be easier for us if we treat them as separate regions with space-time (level 2) sandwichedin between.

Now I want you to look at level 3 – the sparticle level. Sparticles provide the fabric from which space is made. As such they are also present at level 2 but here, where space-time appears smooth and continuous, they are too small to be made out as individual entities. So we’ll stick with level 3.

primordial sparticle constituted something that was made, spontaneously, out of nothing – the question now is what happened thereafter? How did that single sparticle become the Cosmos? I think we’re going to need another diagram here.

Figure 2 is a two dimensional depiction of a three dimensional reality. It consists of a double spiral (3D images of which are beyond my drawing abilities) with two arrows that indicate directional flow. What you are looking at here is a representation of what I call oppositional forces. These are the forces that both act upon, and constitute, quantum entities. This is how it works. The inward flowing spiral represents the downscaling force. It begins its journey at level 1 of figure 1 and comes spiraling inward to a point that is only the merest fraction above the quantum threshold. Here – at the boundary of levels 3 and 4 - it collides head on with the contra-rotating upscaling force spiraling upward and outward: via a zero point, from level 4. It is at this juncture: where oppositional forces collide, that non-space backs up and becomes folded in against itself (non-space cannot displace itself with itself ) that the locality is created.

Now imagine removing one of these forces to leave the other acting in isolation. Remove the upscaling force, and the down-scaling force would crush the locality out of existence. Remove the down-

scaling force, and the up-scaling force would dissipate the locality until it evaporated altogether.

Remember the Zeroth law? Here it is in action at the most fundamental of levels.

So is it the case that the sparticle forms as a result of the action of oppositional forces, or that the opposing matrices form as a reaction to the presence of the sparticle? Both statements are true.

Again I will remind you that in nonspace Time cannot pass – nor is it linear. In non-space it’s perfectly allowable for a reaction to occur before the action that provoked it – and for cause and effect to become concurrent events.

(A short digression. One of the aspects of quantum theory that a great many struggle to grasp is uncertainty. The uncertainty principle basically says that a quantum entity exists in all possible quantum states until it is actually observed – then all possible states [which are real states] collapse to become one [the observed] state.

With the non-space theory this becomes much more logical. In space-time terms a quantum entity will occupy many different quantum states at different points throughout it’s lifetime. In non-space terms there can be no linear succession of different quantum states – the entity must occupy all possible states at the same time.)

Now we can return to our singular sparticle and examine its spherical, spiral structure. We already know that non-space cannot displace itself, so how do oppositional forces accommodate each other as they traverse the Cosmos travelling in opposite directions? Simple – they turn aside and slide over and under one another – they adopt angular momentum which causes the sparticle to rotate.

Oppositional forces also have another – incalculable - effect on sparticles: they force them to proliferate. Sparticles, it must be remembered, are discrete spacetime quanta. As such the amount of mass that they possess approaches as near to nil as it is possible to get and still exist. This makes them prone to distortion and disruption – they split very easily. Contra-rotating oppositional forces attack the locality of a sparticle from within and

without causing a shearing effect that tears them apart. This process does not, however, produce two entities with only half the mass of the original sparticle. It produces two entities with the same mass.

This is made possible by two absolutes: a sparticle’s mass cannot be reduced – to have less mass would equate with nonexistence; sparticles are also composed of an infinite resource: non-space. So they proliferate exponentially and our original sparticle became two, then four, then eight, then... Who needs dark energy?

OK. We now have a volume of empty space with which to work.

The next required step will be to populate that space with entities and systems. How do we go about this? Do we now need some new method that will enable us to furnish our blank canvas with star systems and galaxies? Of course not. We stick with the same modus operandi: the process powered by FIGURE 4

oppositional forces is all that we need.

To get where we need to go we must first of all understand the mechanism by which objects in space can exist in that space. It’s not just a case of chucking them in there and hoping for the best. There has to be a mechanism. This is it: Objects in space can exist in space because – ultimately – they are made of space. Sparticles are the ultimate, indivisible (when you split one you don’t get something else) subcomponents of all things. They are the lowest common denominator.

They are the glue which holds it all together.

So how do we make a particle out of sparticles? Another diagram would serve us well here.

Figure 3 represents a quantum entity. To serve our purpose here we’ll call that entity a sparticle. Look closely at the red arrows – they represent the down-scaling force entering the central locality of our sparticle at points A,B,C and D. The yellow arrows represent the upscaling force emanating from the locality at points E,F,G and H. Now look at points A, B, G and H. Here the arrows indicate that the application of the down-scaling force agrees – directionally – with the application of the up-scaling force. These combined, uni-directional, forces would now have a tendency to twist the locality inside out were it not for the counterbalancing forces applied at points C, D, E and F. This

arrangement, the balancing act, only works, however, when the entity is isolated. In the real world this is never the case. So this twisting motion or inversional (new word) rotation equips our sparticle with the ability to reach out and affect its environment.

Figure 4 depicts one way in which an entity can influence another.

What we are are looking at here is two sparticles that have come together at close range. Their approach was close enough for a down-scaling matrix to form centered on the aggregate mass of the pair. The double headed arrow represents the up-scaling force from the sparticle on the left in phase with the downscaling force of that on the right. The outcome of this will be the merging of the two entities - with the one on the left unraveling (inversionally rotating) itself into the entity on the right – to create a new particle (possibly a quark).

Before we leave our coalescing sparticles I would like the reader to note, well, the action of our entity on the left. It destroyed itself in full compliance with – and to the letter of – the Zeroth law.

Here we have witnessed the forces of dissipation and displacement create something out of that which they sought to destroy. This illustrates, perfectly, the bizarre nature of being. The innate tendency of the Cosmos to return to its original ground state is actually perpetuating its presence within non-space. World without end.

Let us now look at how at how oppositional forces dictate the behavior of the particles that they create.

Figure 5 represents another kind of interaction between particles. In this instance we’ll use electrons as our example. Electrons repel each other at close range, however, they are still – usually – found in pairs. We’ll examine this relationship. Take note that the electron on the right is

depicted larger than the one on the left. This is to signify that it occupies a higher energy state. More energy equates with more oppositional force so the right hand particle seeks to remedy the situation by off loading mass into its left hand counterpart. This, of course, leaves a situation where the left hand particle now carries the excess. So the process begins again only this time in reverse. This is repeated over and over again with the excess baggage constantly oscillating between the two. It is this need to off load mass/energy – even if only for a fleeting instant – that forms the basis of all relationships between particles: the relationships that enable quantum entities to cooperate in theconstruction of the basic quantum system - the atom.

At the atomic level we see structure emerging for the first time. Once again it is oppositional forces that are responsible. The down-scaling force is now pushing individual particles together to form the basis of the quantum system. The upscaling force contributes by maintaining the spatial relationships between, and therefore the discrete individuality of, all the entities that comprise the system. Energy level stability is maintained throughout by the process described in the preceding paragraph. When oppositional forces act together in this manner I refer to it, collectively, as aggregating behaviour.

Aggregating behaviour can be

likened to shovelling snow – you clear it away from some areas whilst piling it up in others. Oppositional forces do much the same, the upscaling force clears mass away and creates space whilst the downscaling force piles it up to form concentrations.

The construction of molecules from atoms follows the same pattern, only now oppositional forces have convenient, pre-packed, discrete amounts of mass in the form of electrons, with which to cement molecular structures together.

And so it goes up the scale. From the tiniest things, like the cells that make

up our bodies – to the immensity of galactic super-clusters.

Oppositional forces are, then, universal. They replace all of the forces associated with the old model of reality, including gravity.

Near the beginning of this article I promised you something that the old model could not – I promised you a model of reality that would enable us to emulate ET and travel across the vastness of interstellar space. I will now hold good to that promise.

The normal way to get from point A to point B is to traverse the distance in between. You can do this on foot, in a car or aboard a train. Over longer distances you might want to fly. When it comes to interstellar distances, however, things aren’t so simple. To get from here (point A) to our nearest stellar neighbour, Alpha Centauri (point B), we would need to travel at a speed of 186.000 miles per second for four and a half years. Hardly practicable – even if we could travel at the speed of light, which we cannot.

How, then, do we get around this impasse? Simple – we take a short cut through nonspace. You will remember that non-space is spatially and temporally dimensionless. Therefore if we can access this ‘space’ we can use it to jump from any point within spacetime to any other point in spaceFIGURE 7

time, regardless of the distances involved.

This how we go about it.

To gain access to non-space we will need to exploit an aspect of particulate behaviour that we haven’t yet covered. So far we have looked at the way in which particles exchange mass/energy with one another. Now we need to examine the behaviour of isolated particles that do not have, within their immediate vicinity, a target particle with which to conduct the exchange.

Isolated particles are still driven: by oppositional forces, to shed energy. However the only medium available to them that they can transfer energy to is empty space.

How, then, does a particle – in this situation - expend energy? It takes the line of least resistance. Its inversional rotation becomes polarized (see figure 6) – with the down-scaling force entering the particle on one side and the upscaling force exiting on the other – so it begins to move. Oppositional forces are now propelling the particle through spacetime. An understanding of this process, at the most fundamental of levels, is essential to achieving our goal.

Figure 7 also depicts a polarized quantum particle. It is not here, however, depicted at the spacetime level (level 2 figure 1) – it is depicted at the sparticle level (level 3 figure 1). This is an illustration of the mechanism employed to

propel an entity (photons behave in exactly the same way) through space-time: I call the process ingestion. The down-scaling force (vortex) acts to draw in sparticles on one side of the particle whilst the upscaling force (vortex) expels them on the other. Polarized particles simply propel themselves through space in the same way as a turbofan engine propels an aircraft through the air.

How, then, can we exploit this process to access non-space and send a man to the stars?

First – to establish exactly what it is that we are trying to achieve - I’m going to ask a question. When an aircraft flies through the atmosphere it deflects the oncoming airstream around itself. When a spacecraft travels through space-time, is the oncoming space deflected around the craft?

It must be remembered that space is made of sparticles which possess virtually no mass. Furthermore, sparticles have less mass than neutrinos, billions of which are zipping straight through the Earth, right now, with barely a pause. Add to this the fact that the craft can only exist within space-time because it is, ultimately, made of space/sparticles and we have our answer. When traveling through space – space, going in the opposite direction – flows straight through the spacecraft. This is what we must prevent from happening. Let me introduce you to space ripping technology.

Figure 8 depicts a spacecraft equipped with the technology that enables it to rip space apart and so directly access non-space.

This is how it works: the spacecraft has the ability to generate a field of quantum particles (a plasma field) around itself. The field is held in electromagnetic stasis relative to the craft which means that, should the field begin to move, the craft moves along with it. Those operating the craft turn a dial and energy is pumped into the field which accelerates the inversional rotation of all the individual particles within it. A switch is then thrown and all the particles become polarized along a single axis. Space-time is now being processed through the field – not the spacecraft. The craft disappears from space-time altogether. It no longer exists within space-time – it now resides in non-space. Bingo.

A craft equipped with space ripping technology would possess many of the capabilities and characteristics that have been attributed to UFOs by witnesses. Here’s just a few.

It could disappear or (dependent on the intensity of the plasma field) become semitransparent (as witnessed during the Phoenix incident).

Light passing through the field would be distorted – the heat shimmer effect (also reported at Phoenix).

It could accelerate and manoeuvre in way that would kill the occupants of a normal craft (being isolated from space-time means that it is also isolated from the laws of physics: especially the inertial laws, that apply).

Interaction between the plasma field and our atmosphere might well produce sparks, smoke or ‘dripping molten metal’ (as reported at the Rendelsham Forest incident) effects.

Now that I have outlined how it will be possible, one day, for us to get ‘out there’: across the Cosmos - we are left with the question – have I, in any way, described how ET manages to come here?

REAL COWBOYS MEET REAL ALIENS IN NEW BOOK BY UFO RESEARCHERS

Yes, there were UFO sightings by cowboys, ranchers, and others in the “Old West.”

Perhaps not as dramatic as Hollywood’s version, these true-life UFO cases of the 1800s are nonetheless every bit as interesting, according to a newly-released book.

Imagine John Wayne riding his trusty steed over a rocky ridge and finding, littered across the desert in front of him, a crashed extraterrestrial spacecraft and the bodies of its non-human occupants. This scenario of the Wild West meeting the far future may not be as far-fetched as some people think, according to Noe Torres and John LeMay, authors of newly-released The Real Cowboys & Aliens: UFO Encounters of the Old West, 2nd Edition. The book features over 30 illustrations by award-winning artists Neil Riebe, Shane Olive, and Jared Olive, and is now available at RoswellBooks.com and all major online book retailers.

“After the Steven Spielberg movie Cowboys & Aliens was announced in 2010, we thought it would be interesting to look at actual UFO cases from the 1800s,” Torres said. “While the movie is an enjoyable work of fiction, clearly it has little or no basis in reality, and we wanted our book to present actual, documented cases of UFOs in the Old West.”

Hundreds of UFO sightings were reported throughout North America in the 19th century, as documented in numerous newspaper articles and books of that time period. Farmers, cowboys, ranchers, and others reported seeing strange signs and wonders in the sky, and occasionally, they also claimed to meet beings that were clearly not human.

The first edition of their book was praised by critics and was wildly successful among both school-age children and adults. A review in New Mexico’s major daily newspaper, the Albuquerque Journal, proclaimed, “Hey, Hollywood. If you’re going to make a bigbudget movie about extraterrestrial contact with Wild West cowpunchers, can’t you at least try to get it right?

Of course spacemen explored our planet in the days of saddle-sore lawmen and swinging saloon doors. But it wasn’t the cartoonish picture of evil planetary invaders, complete with hideous teeth and slimy hands emanating from their reptilian bellies that is portrayed in this Hollywood blockbuster….

“It seems likely that UFOs were quite common in the 1800s,” Torres added, “We have found hundreds of newspaper and magazine accounts about people seeing strange objects and lights in the sky. We have also found articles that mention face-to-face encounters with creatures that seemed human but were clearly not.”

Torres, a state section director in Texas for the Mutual UFO network (MUFON), said, “What is especially interesting about these historic UFO sightings is that they took place before airplanes were invented and before flight of any kind was common. Although hot air balloons had been around since the 1700s, it was closer to 1900 before balloon airships became widely known.” Torres has written several books about historic UFO cases.

Torres and LeMay said that after researching many UFO sightings from 1800s, they picked the most interesting cases to include in the book. Torres said, “We’ve included many bizarre stories, such as the one about a being from outer space whose spaceship crashed in North Texas and whose body was buried in a lonely Texas cemetery where it may still remain today. You will also read about a flying monster shot by two cowboys outside of Tombstone, Arizona. There is also a tale about an underwater UFO that came up to the surface and nearly electrocuted two men.

Another story tells of a mysterious ‘airship’ that lassoed a calf and then flew off into the sky with it. You will also hear the tale of a strange flying beast that terrorized a small Midwest town. Did these strange encounters really happen as recorded, or were they the products of overworked imaginations? We’ll the readers decide for themselves.”

Torres and LeMay have spoken at many schools about their book since the first edition was released early in 2011. “Originally we targeted this book at middle school and high school students,” LeMay said. “We had no idea it would be so popular among adults.

Air traffic controllers in Siberia claim they were buzzed by a high-speed UFO with a

The mystery object suddenly burst onto flight monitors over the remote Russian diamond capital of Yakutsk. It was shown flying at a speed of slightly over 6000 mph, and rapidly changing direction in the early morning sky, it is claimed.

The UFO was logged at a height of 64, 895 feet above sea level and appeared to interfere with aviation frequencies. On footage posted on You Tube, an air traffic controller made clear he sought to make

contact with the UFO, and the Russian aviation workers are heard in the control tower trying to make contact with the ship.

Radar shows the UFO moving rapidly through the skies while surrounding planes in the air travel much slower.

'I kept hearing some female voice, as if a woman was saying mioaw-mioaw all the time,' the air traffic controller told the pilot of a passing Aeroflot flight. His communication to the Russian plane were disrupted by interference from the UFO, it was claimed.

The air traffic control monitor automatically designated the UFO as '00000' because it did not have a flight number.

The footage was first posted last month but it is unclear when it was taken. A shot of the airport did not appear to show any snow which is normal for eight months a year in Yakutsk, where the temperature last night was minus 36C. At one point the UFO is showing moving away from Yakutsk at great speed before turning and heading back towards the city.

Local residents were perturbed, but this is not the first time the state has experienced colored rain.

This strange phenomenon was first recorded in Kerala a few hours after a meteor airburst in July 2001, when a space rock exploded in the atmosphere. More than 120 such rain showers were reported that year, including yellow, green, and black ones.

Astrobiologist Godfrey Louis, pro vicechancellor at nearby Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), has studied samples of red rainwater in 2001 and discovered strange properties, including autofluorescence-light that is naturally emitted by cell structures like mitochondria [below].

Scientific analysis showed the striking red coloration is due to microscopic particles resembling biological cells, possibly originating from comet fragments. Louis believes these cells could be extraterrestrial because existing theories already hypothesize that comets may have a hot water core with chemical nutrients able to support microbial growth. "Such comets can break into fragments as they near the sun during their travel along highly elliptical orbits," he told The Epoch Times via email. "These fragments can remain in

orbit and later can enter Earth's atmosphere periodically."

According to Louis, red particles in the atmosphere from a fragmented meteor probably seeded the red rain clouds.

"There can be roughly of the order of 100 million cells in one litter of red rain water," he said. "The red rain can appear like black coffee if the concentration of the cells increases in the rain water."

These "alien" cells resemble normal cells, but lack conventional biological molecules like DNA, and are expected to have different biochemistry. "Unlike other biological cells, these red rain microbes can withstand very high temperatures," Louis explained. "It is possible to culture them at temperatures as high as 300 degrees centigrade [572 degrees Fahrenheit]."

Even the toughest known heat-loving bacteria on Earth cannot withstand the same hot conditions as the red cells. "Currently known conventional hyper-thermophilic microbes do not survive culturing beyond 122 degrees centigrade [252 degrees Fahrenheit]."

Louis has also studied yellow rain, and says it contains some unknown dissolved materials but no red cells. "Yellow rain and red rain are related as both show an unusual characteristic: autofluorescence," he said. "It is inferred that the materials dissolved in the yellow rain are the biological byproducts of these micro-organisms."

Researchers are attempting to identify the molecular components in the red cells and to provide more insights into coloured rain.

landed on the fourth planet from the sun showed a "faint but distinctive" image on the horizon, the Los Angeles Times reported.

However,a subsequent batch of images sent from the unmanned rover two hours later showed no trace of the blotch.

One theory put forth by space enthusiasts in the L.A. Times story is that Curiosity had somehow snapped a photo of part of the spacecraft that escorted the rover through the Martian atmosphere crash-landing a distance away. But to capture that image "would be an insane coincidence," one engineer told the newspaper. Others say more feasible possibilities would be simply dirt on the lens, or maybe a dust devil twisting far in the distance.

But as more images start to pour into NASA, more is being learned about the rover's pinpoint landing.

In what some are dubbing the "crime scene" photo of the landing zone taken by another satellite, Curiosity is seen on the ground along with pieces of the spacecraft that broke apart as planned on the way to the surface. The photo reveals the heat shield that protected the rover as it entered the atmosphere and the parachute that helped ease the vehicle onto Mars. Also seen are parts of the "sky crane," the spacecraft that carried the rover to the planet, the article noted.

Could the sky crane crashing be the blotch? From another L.A.Times story: "The crime scene photo showed that the sky crane had crash-landed, as designed, about 2,000 feet away and in the same direction that Curiosity's camera was pointed when it snapped the first photo showing the blotch.The new satellite photo also showed that the sky crane, when it crash-landed, kicked up a violent wave of dirt that had scarred the surface of Mars."

Curiosity mission manager Michael Watkins told the Times if it were the case, "it would be incredibly cool. ... A crazy, serendipitous thing."

As the Curiosity rover readies to begin the scientific discovery part of the mission, maybe more interesting things will be revealed.

When searching for life on another world, the most fundamental precaution that any space agency needs to take with any probe or rover is to ensure it doesn't carry Earth microbes. However, if reports are to be believed, NASA may have screwed up -- and is hoping that it doesn't find any water when it drills into the Martian soil.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the possible contamination occurred six months before the rover's launch in November 2011. Curiosity's drillbits were designed to be stored in a sealed box, separate from the drill mechanism -however, a NASA engineer worried that a rough landing might make assembling the drill on Mars impossible (and thus rendering one of the rover's most important tools impotent), and opened the sealed unit to install one drill bit as a kind of backup.This happened without consulting NASA's team dedicated to avoiding contaminating Mars with Earth bacteria.

Worried scientists at NASA now estimate that there may be as many as 250,000 bacterial spores that could have survived both the journey to Mars and the landing.

the risk of continuing knowing that they could have permanently seeded life onto Mars.That might mean never knowing for sure whether life was ever indigenous to the Red Planet.

The Gale Crater (which Curiosity is currently trundling across) was chosen for its extreme dryness, and the engineers apparently opened the sealed box as part of a "calculated risk" -- the worry being that a useless drill arm was a far bigger likelihood than finding water in Gale that could be contaminated.

Even if Curiosity has been contaminated, it might seem strange to think that anything alive could survive the solar radiationsuffused vacuum of space -- except many things have managed to survive both space and Mars-like conditions. Famously, tardigrades (or "water bears") have been able to survive up to ten days unprotected exposure to space, while lichen has survived in space for over a year and half in an experiment that leant some credence to the panspermia hypothesis. There are also several groups around the world investigating bacteria which could theoretically survive on Mars and, if necessary, help terraform the planet to make it habitable for humans.

Considering Curiosity's mission is scheduled to last for two years, NASA scientists will be hoping they don't come across any Martian puddles -- it would be a huge shame to have to carry around a useless drill for two years, knowing how much effort it took to get it to another world, and knowing what it could potentially teach us.

Earlier this year a surge in a key indicator fuelled hopes that the craft was nearing the so-called heliopause, which marks the boundary between our Solar System and outer space. Scientists were intrigued in May by an increase in cosmic rays hitting the spacecraft, which for decades has snapped images of the Earth and other planets in the Solar System as it has made its long journey into outer space. But measurements since then have fluctuated up and down, indicating that, while the craft is near to the edge, it may still not get there for some time.

"The question is, how much further is it to the heliopause?" Stone asked rhetorically at the lecture at the headquarters of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California. "We don't know ‌ whether we're dancing along the edge of a new region which is connected to the outside," added Stone, a Voyager project scientist from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.

Noting that Voyager 1 moves a billion miles every three years, he said: "It's hard to imagine that it's going to be too much longer, but I can't tell you if it's days, months or years. I really can't tell you."

But he underlined how important a milestone it will be. "Crossing into interstellar space that will be a historic moment when the first object launched from Earth finally leaves the bubble," he said.

NASA has described Voyager 1 - now 11 billion miles (18 billion kilometres) away from the Sun and its companion Voyager 2 as "the two most distant active representatives of humanity and its desire to explore."

The scientists controlling Voyager 1 whose 1970s technology means it has only a 100,000th of the computer memory of an 8 gigabyte iPod Nano decided to turn off its cameras after it passed Neptune in 1989, to preserve power. Assuming the craft continues to function normally, they will have to start turning off other on-board instruments from 2020, and it is expected to run out of power completely in 2025, said Stone.

Despite the fact the UK's Ministry of Defense officially ended its UFO investigations in 2009, it appears that the British Civil Aviation Authority decided -unbeknownst to the public -- to continue collecting reports that involved UFOs with possible flight safety issues.

"They were only interested in sightings that definitely had a bearing on aircraft or flight safety, and were no longer interested in reports from the public, who'd seen things in the sky and reported them to the Civil Aviation Authority," said David Clarke, the official UK National Archives consultant and a journalism lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University.

- kept separate records of UFO cases, "not only by the aircrew, themselves, but also anything unusual that was seen by air traffic controllers on the ground at airports."

Through the filing of Freedom of Information requests, Clarke found that the Royal Air Force specifically requested any UFO reports submitted to the Department of Transport would no longer be forwarded to the MoD. The RAF specifically states that "members of the public who make such reports are not encouraged to believe an investigation will take place."

It's now known that British air traffic controllers have been receiving UFO reports on almost a regular basis. Speaking on the BBC Radio's "Today" programme, on Aug. 17, Richard Deakin, the head of the UK's National Air Traffic Control Services, was asked if he or his staff had ever been unable to identify a flying object.

"Well, occasionally, there are objects that are identified that don't conform to normal traffic patterns -- not just from the UK point of view, but from around the world," Deakin responded. "I have to say it's not something that occupies a huge amount of my time."

Deakin added that these sightings occur "typically around one a month."

If that's true, then Clarke's calculations of how many actual UFO sightings were written up as Mandatory Occurrence Reports, or MORS, was substantially higher.

"As far as MOR reports that I got from using the Freedom of Information, from December 2004 to October 2010, their actual database listed 10 instances of UFOs or unidentified aircraft," said Clarke. "Now [Deakin] is saying they get a report every month," he added. "If that was the case, I'd expect it to be 80 in that six-year period, not 10. So, my question is: Where did all the others go?"

This comes on the heels of the Ministry of Defense's ruling that all UFO investigations in the UK have come to an end. According to the MoD's website: The MoD has no opinion on the existence or otherwise of extra-terrestrial life.

However, In over fifty years, no UFO report has revealed any evidence of a potential threat to the United Kingdom. The MoD has no specific capability for identifying the nature of such sightings. There is no defence benefit in such investigation.

Furthermore, responding to reported UFO sightings diverts MoD resources from tasks that are relevant to defence.

UK pilots have reported a number of chilling near-misses with UFOs. One incident involved David Hastings, a British pilot pictured below, who, along with his co-pilot, David Paterson, was flying a Cessna Skymaster plane over the Mojave Desert in America on Sept. 9, 1985.

"We were sitting there enjoying the sunshine when we both suddenly saw this speck out on the horizon at our 12 o'clock position," Hastings told HuffPost. "This speck suddenly grew extremely quickly until we saw this huge shadow go over the top of us," he recounted. "But the most amazing thing about it was there was no noise and absolutely no movement or turbulence at all. We looked at each other, saying, 'What the hell was that?'"

At that point, both pilots felt that something was in the air off the port (left) side of their plane, but they couldn't see anything there.

They agreed that they were able to sense something moving outside.

Hastings walked to the back of the plane, grabbed his camera and returned to the cockpit where he snapped two pictures out the window. All he was able to see in the camera viewfinder was the left wing of the plane and the ground below. It was only after they returned to San Francisco and got the pictures developed that they knew they'd encountered something extraordinary.

"One picture showed what we expected to see -- the aircraft wing and the ground," said Hastings. "But in the second one, there was this [cigar-shaped] thing. We were both convinced that it was not a manmade object.

Several pilots have seen UFOs in England, so it didn't surprise me, but I was surprised that we actually got a picture of it."

Hastings recalls that, although he wasn't frightened by the object, he was mostly concerned about the initial encounter with it and the possibility of a mid-air collision. No hoax was ever determined in this case, which remains unexplained to this day.

Why do aviation officials avoid talking about UFOs? In the UK, Clarke suggests it's something that could result in bad publicity.

"Don't forget, this is a commercial operation and the aircrew are very reluctant to file a report because the airline companies don't want them answering questions about things that aren't part of the corporate image."

The astronaut's 'miracle box',the Microflow, is a box that can detect "everything from infections, to stress, blood cells and cancer markers," and is being tested on board the International Space Station (ISS).

Developed by the Quebec-based National Optics Institute External (INO), it may not be the impressive size of the Curiosity Mars rover, but NASA claims that the 10kg box is able to detect a number of ailments in only ten minutes.

The Microflow is a miniature version of a flow cytometer - a device which is used to diagnose medical conditions - which is usually not portable and weigh several hundred pounds.The machine uses fiberoptic technology to detect cell markers, blood cells and biological matter through a liquid sample within only ten minutes. It is hoped that the Microflow could be a portable solution which offers real-time medical diagnosis for astronauts, those in rural communities and where medical equipment is not often available.

Weighing in at less than 22lb (10kg), the device takes up about the same amount of space as a toaster.

In conjunction with NASA, the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) will be running a pilot project on the ISS. However, due to the weightlessness of space, the CSA first had to develop a method to prevent fluid test samples from becoming unfocused.

As a result, the designers - led by Dr Ozzy Mermut from INO and Dr Luchino Cohen from the CSA - built Microflow to tackle this issue. The stream of liquid which contains test particles doesn't loose focus without gravity,and afterwards,data is sent via a USB key for later study.

The machine will be put through its paces during astronaut Chris Hadfield's six month mission on the ISS.
