Something rotten seems to be happening in Denmark, to paraphrase the time-honoured saying… Well, in this instance we might need to transpose ‘Space’ for ‘Denmark,’ but I’m sure you know what I mean. If you make it to the last pages of this issue, you’ll find two interesting news items: ‘The Creation of a Pentagon Space Corps,’ and ‘NASA’S First Asteroid Deflection Mission Enters Next Design Phase.’ Two seemingly unrelated tidbits of information, but… for how long will they remain unrelated? To tackle our first problem, the proposed Space Corps. Regular readers may remember that the United States already has a dedicated ‘Space Aggressor’ Corps nestled snugly inside the US Air Force, who are, as we speak, training for ‘extraterrestrial conflict’ – whatever that may mean. This new proposal, currently awaiting Congress and Presidential approval, calls for the establishment of a ‘Space Corps’ that will stand alone from the defence structure of the Marines, Navy, Army and Air Force. That’s right, it would be its own independent military entity, with its own uniforms and fancy hats, and it is planned to be in operation by 2018. The rationale behind the development of this separate military entity is supposedly to protect America’s ‘space assets,’ whatever they might be, and please don’t tell me that a few communications and geopositioning satellites (don’t forget the US Air Force owns the satellites that operate your in-car navigation systems – remember that next time you are trying to find your nearest Bunnings) are worthy of the development of an entire and independent military space division. What else is up there that the US might be interested in guarding – secret satellites? Orbital bases? Installations on the Moon? The fear-mongers behind this proposal would also like us to believe that Russia and China already have space forces that they need to defend against – but even were this true (and I don’t think it is), what does it actually mean? Are Russia and China planning to attack the western hemisphere from space? Have they already sent troops into orbit to prepare for the long drop? Does the US Congress think the rest of the world is dumb enough to fall for a furby that? The United States already has their ‘star wars’ weapons, and others besides, that are capable of taking out targets in nearEarth orbit. This proposal for a Space Corps is about stepping up those weapons, giving them an autonomous governance system, and training soldiers for close-quarter armed combat. Is the Space Corps really about protecting ‘space assets’, or are they planning on actually going to war with someone? Or… some thing…? The ‘Double Asteroid Redirection Test’ (‘DART’ – and I am sure somebody somewhere thinks that’s funny), is a disaster waiting to happen. Ostensibly designed to protect Earth from any potential asteroid impact by deflecting them out of their harmful orbits, it uses what NASA is terming the ‘kinetic impact technique,’ which is a fancy way of saying ‘hitting it with a hammer’ – the ‘hammer,’ in this case, being a DART missile smashing into said asteroid at six kilometres a second. Perhaps I have an overactive imagination, but what if the deflection fails (this is a test, after all) and the asteroids are smacked by NASA’s proverbial hammer into an even more dangerous trajectory? Does NASA have an emergency protocol prepared for those cases? How many DART missiles will be waiting on the tarmac for these situations? Are these people blinking idiots?
3
The answer, unfortunately, must be ‘yes,’ because they are planning to test DART soon. Very soon. And their proposed target is most unusual indeed. It is the so-called ‘Didymos’ asteroid SYSTEM. I capitalised that because I would like you to understand that Didymos is not a single asteroid, it is a binary asteroid system – there are two asteroids involved, orbiting around each other in what must surely be a quite unusual phenomenon, and possibly one that should be preserved for further study, or preserved simply for its uniqueness. NASA’s justification for targeting this innocent binary asteroid, which is not a threat to Earth and will only distantly approach us in 2022 and 2024, is that the binary system will provide a better understanding of the mechanics of the deflection process. As if. I may not be an astrophysicist, but even I can see that testing DART on a single asteroid – one not complicated by its own independent and unpredictable binary orbital system – would surely be a better test of the method. Which leads me to wonder if there is something about Didymos that somebody doesn’t like. I beg you to please read between the lines and not imagine for a moment that the first ‘Asteroid Deflection Mission’ is really about the planetary good. This is not a good thing. This is a potential long-range weapon capable of causing long-range damage to any distant objects in space that are deemed to be a threat to this planet. Admittedly, from what we are being told, the weapon doesn’t seem capable of damaging any object with intelligentlydirected manoeuvring capabilities, ie, a spaceship with a pilot. In DART’s current state, any potentially threatening object can only be contained by DART if it stays on a steady and predictable trajectory, like an asteroid. But hey, it’s early stages yet and this is only a test. The worst is no doubt yet to come. So what is going on? While much of humanity is waiting for ET to make themselves known to us, and wishes fervently to foster a relationship of harmony and peace with our brothers and sisters from the stars should they ever show up, Planet Earth’s self-appointed guardians apparently have plans to do no such thing. And I direct you to one more interesting conundrum…while the official word from the pundits of science and the government agencies that tightly hold their purse strings is that no life exists in space, this self-same government is generously opening up its wallet to pay for people and weapons to protect us from a threat that they keep violently insisting absolutely does not exist…

UFO ENCOUNTER
Facing the Deeper Issues of UFO Contact If you’ve been around the UFO field for some time now, you will have realised what a whirlwind ride this subject can take you on. However, over the years you may have come to learn, like many others before you, that finding answers to your questions about extraterrestrial life is not the real goal of your quest. The goal for many, and I believe for our civilisation, is not to find the answers, but to ask the right questions, for it is only the work of unearthing the right questions that creates the impetus within our civilisation to take us forward into galactic citizenship. The years that researchers have spent taking reports from the public, interviewing witnesses, conducting investigations, researching etc, are very important steps and have built the foundations for the future of UFO research. However, the UFO subject has a way of acting like a boomerang for many of us. When we stray too far from its centre it returns us to our personal entry point, which for many has been reports of extraterrestrial worlds and ET societies that function in a more advanced capacity than we do on planet Earth. For example, there are reports of witnesses who have had contact with extraterrestrials who claim their society gave up wars aeons previously, who live with far less disease (in some cases no disease), how some govern their society by the people and for the people in an eco-friendly and almost utopian style, and how those societies handle the issue of longevity and their great reverence for all life.
of life, where it comes from, how we respond to it and how tolerant we can be of other life forms which may be very different from us. In its own way, just the very experience of exploring the UFO subject prepares us for open contact with extraterrestrial civilisations by re-evaluating our own civilisation. The process of how our present civilisation can get from where we are now to these more advanced ET models contains the most important social questions of our time. No wonder the UFO community keeps avoiding them, but these are questions we need to face. It seems the more we step off our planet mentally and emotionally, the more we are switched on internally. This is as it should be as we prepare for the greatest coming-out party we may ever know -- becoming part of our galactic neighbourhood. This will take courage, understanding, tolerance and wisdom like we have possibly never displayed before. Yet I have great faith in humanity and our wonderful ability to adapt and grow under any circumstance. Our future is calling.

UFO ENCOUNTER
HYPERCIVILISATIONS AND THE PRIMITIVE EXTRATERRESTRIAL HYPOTHESIS
Dan D. Farcaş PhD
More and more specialists admit that life is everywhere in the Universe, and that three or four billion years of favourable conditions, lasting on a planet, ensures the emergence and development of intelligent beings and eventually the birth of a “technological civilization,” capable of building spaceships for travelling to other inhabitable planets. These conditions, though rare, are found in many places in the immensity of the universe. On this basis, the extraterrestrial hypothesis became the easiest way to explain the UFO phenomenon. On the other hand, prestigious ufologists, including Dr J. Allen Hynek and Jacques Vallée, questioned this explanation. They, along with die-hard sceptics, have mentioned that the distances between civilizations are too large for such cosmic travelling. But, as I have argued in my recent book “UFOs over Romania,” if we make an appropriate approach, we will discover that the most important distances between cosmic civilisations are not those in space, but those in time. I have estimated that in the history of our Galaxy there could have come into being a number of technological civilisations, of which maybe a few hundred survived the diseases (that we face now on Earth) and still exist. But these civilisations have not arisen simultaneously. For example, in July 2015 was announced the discovery, at 1,400 light years from Earth, of the exoplanet Kepler 452b. It is similar to Earth, orbiting in the habitable zone of a Sun-like star. That solar system is one billion years older than ours.
5
That means that life and a possible technological civilisation could have appeared there one billion years earlier than on Earth. More generally, the first technological civilisations in the Milky Way could have appeared a billion years ago, or even earlier. Consequently, we understand that the possible civilisations in the Cosmos are far apart from each other not only in space, but also in time. In our Galaxy these several hundred surviving civilisations estimated above, have appeared, most likely, at a rate of one in several million years. Therefore, in the Milky Way there may be no civilisations close to our level. What will become of our civilisation (if it can survive) over millions (or billions) of years? It is impossible to imagine. We cannot forget that we are not able to predict our future, even in the perspective of just several hundred years. What would the inhabitants of a civilisation that has outstripped us by millions of years look like? Maybe they became immortal; maybe time and space do not matter to them; they may have moved into a pervasive virtual reality or into other dimensions and so on. But the real answer is almost certainly much more complex and will defy our logic and imagination. We can accept however that they will have been transformed into something else, beyond our understanding, into something we can name as a “hypercivilization.”
UFO ENCOUNTER
If anybody considers that we are too optimistic and that intelligent extraterrestrial beings are much scarcer, we should add that our Milky Way is only one of at least 150 billion more or less similar galaxies of the Universe accessible to our instruments. And we have strong reasons to believe that there are other Universes too, maybe “parallel” ones, maybe from other states of matter, or parts of a “Multiverse” etc. Schooling and science fiction, among other things, sets our minds into patterns that ignore completely the possibility of hypercivilisations. Consequently we face two “extraterrestrial hypotheses.” The first is what we might call the “primitive extraterrestrial hypothesis;” the other that of “hypercivilisations.” The “Primitive Extraterrestrial Hypothesis” assumes that all cosmic civilisations are more or less at the same level of evolution. Therefore it nurtures some false preconceptions, such as: very long and difficult cosmic voyages, a wish to land on the lawn of White House, equal rights, conversation, invasion, intervention, aid and so on. This primitive view is completely implausible. If hypercivilisations exist (and they exist, with a probability of 99.999999%) they must have exploited our Galaxy, in the smallest detail, millions of years ago, so they will have known for a long time about our existence. This reasoning influenced Enrico Fermi when he said, in 1950: “they should be here; where are they?” But neither he, nor many others, considered that representatives of hypercivilisations could be here among us, but could look so different from our expectations that we cannot recognise them. What prevents us from seeing them is, also, a set of widespread and deeply rooted prejudices, such as those listed below. The preconception of equal rights. A difference of millions of years, or even hundreds of millions, is as huge as between us and a lizard, or even an ant. If they are here (and it is highly probable), they can examine us, monitor our evolution, even contact us in some form, but they will never put themselves at the same level with us. The preconception of conversation. As far back as 1959, Giuseppe Cocconi and Philip Morrison argued that if the difference between two civilisations is of millions of years, the probability that they could exchange ideas is zero. We interact sometimes with a lizard; but this will never be a conversation, they said.
6
Temporal provincialism (a term used by Dr J. Allen Hynek). It states that, in opposition with the previous dark centuries, the last three to four hundred years brought us finally to the light of real truth and science. In this light, we can now decide what facts can be accepted and what will never be possible. One hundred years ago or so we started to use the radio, and some believed it would last as the best means of communications forever. One hundred years ago Einstein postulated that the speed of light is a limit, so no other physical law will be discovered until the end of time to avoid this limit, and so on. As a peculiar example, we have the SETI preconception. According to it, even if radio signals need thousands of years to travel from one inhabited world to other, the cosmic civilisations we may contact must also consider that signalling by radio waves will be, forever, the most appropriate means of contact. The preconception of invasion. For many people it should be normal if a cosmic civilisation arrives on Earth, that it will attempt to conquer us by force. But the hypercivilisations probably knew, millions of years ago, that we were here; therefore they could invade us at any time and, in a certain sense, probably we are already invaded by them, for millions of years. Some “out-of-place artifacts” could be a hint of that. The preconception of intervention and of aid. Some hope that ET will help us (or at least some “chosen” of us) to overcome future catastrophes. But even mankind, if we should discover a piece of land that has escaped from human intrusion, will try to declare it a reservation and permit only a very limited intervention for scientific reasons. This attitude seems to be strengthening in time. A hypercivilisation observing the Earth and human technological civilisation should act in a similar manner, avoiding interference in our evolution but perhaps taking samples, making experiments, having very limited contact (not at all officially or as between equals) with only some individuals, selected upon their and not our criteria. Therefore no settlement, no destruction, and no official contact, conversation or substantial help, are to be expected from highly advanced cosmic civilisations, even if they are here now. The difference between a hypercivilisation and ourselves could be as high as that between us and ants. Some
UFO ENCOUNTER
entomologists who would propose to study the life of an anthill will try to disturb, as little as possible, its life. They could of course make experiments, examining or modifying some ants, or even taking them into remote laboratories, trying to create new “races” and so on. They will certainly try to find out, as much as possible, about the life of the anthill, but will not “present credentials” to the queen of the ants. If the entomologists have the technology they may create some robot ants, sending them into the hill and watching from a safe place, for example “on the computer screen,” the data transmitted by them. And if a robot ant should be lost in that mission, the incident would add a bit to the costs of research without being a tragedy. We can speculate that a hypercivilisation could attempt to realise, using genetic materials from the Earth, new races with greater brains and higher intelligence, adapted for some special tasks, etc. Therefore, the many ET “races” as described by the alleged abductees (the greys, the tall blonds etc.) could be such artificial human races or even bio-robots derived from the human species. They can be “produced,” for example, in reservations or bases somewhere outside the Earth. In the same manner we make new varieties of wheat from the traditional ones. Sometimes the perfect variety of wheat becomes sterile or is exposed to new diseases. At that moment the agronomists will try to find some appropriate genes in the pool represented by the primitive species of wheat, to improve the “perfect” variety. What if humans on Earth are the “wild pool” of genes, suitable to improve some artificial races elsewhere? There may be no problem of compatibility between the visitors and us, as in some of the reported UFO abduction and hybridisation stories, but also, for example, in the Biblical note: “In those days, divine beings and human daughters had sexual relations and gave birth to children. These were the ancient heroes.” (Genesis, 6, 4) Some people even suppose that there is an ongoing external intervention in the evolution of the human race in order to improve it. Obviously the comparison above – of mankind with an anthill – is slightly forced, as mankind is, nevertheless, a potential future hypercivilisation. The arising of a technological civilisation could be a very rare event in our Galaxy, occurring probably once in several millions of years, so it is normal for us to be of interest to the higher intelligences. But what could they expect from us? A hypercivilisation will behave elusively and will not give us its knowledge and technologies; even more, it will forbid that. This is not only because of human aggressiveness and xenophobia, making from all new technology new weapons, nor only to avoid a “cultural shock,” which could virtually destroy all our social, economical, political, military, scientific, religious and cultural structures. I can speculate they also have some other reasons for that. Hypercivilisations would wait for (and maybe harvest even now) our original ideas, viewpoints, creations (in art, science, philosophy, ethics etc.), that have been produced as a result of millions of years of our independent evolution. And all that expected crop could be destroyed by a premature contact.
7
Some old, apparently absurd, stories may be an indication of such an attitude: the punishment for the apple of the forbidden tree of knowledge, the chaining of Prometheus, or the fallen angels (from Book of Enoch) thrown into a pit full of fire because they had taught earthlings some skills. Many abductees and contactees speak about ethereal light balls as “deposits of knowledge and intelligence,” recording “everything in the Universe,” among others, the life of all (or of the most interesting) individuals. We have some hints of this when we speak about: the “Book of Life,” “Akashic Records,” “collective unconscious,” or even “morphogenetic field” etc. That “super-memory” could be written on a “spiritual” support, or on something around us we are not yet able to imagine. Sometimes, some people, under certain conditions, may gain access to this data warehouse. In that way we can explain channelling, xenoglossia, walk-ins, reincarnation, ghosts, etc. In such a virtual reality, time is different. We can travel in the past, live events without changing the real past, or we can see scenarios of the future (sometimes apocalyptical) without accepting fatality. Of course, all the above is not a proof that the hypercivilisations are the explanation for everything strange, and in particular for UFOs. It is only one hypothesis; but – I think – one which cannot be easily discarded. Dan D. Farcaş, born in 1940, graduate in mathematics and physics and a PhD in mathematics and computer sciences, was a computer specialist at the Polytechnic University of Timisoara (1962-67), where he made the first computer simulations of neural networks in Romania. From 1991 to 2010 he was director, deputy director or senior expert of the Computing and Health Statistics Centre of Ministry of Health Romania, temporary advisor to the World Health Organisation (19972001) and expert in Health for Romania to the European Commission (2007-2010). Since 2013 he has been a member of the Committee for History and Philosophy of Science and Technology of the Romanian Academy. In 2011 he became president of the Romanian Association for the Study of Unidentified Aerospace Phenomena (ASFAN). Farcaş has published over 25 books in the fields of computer science, mathematics, ufology, and memoirs. He has published over 1000 articles and has participated in numerous radio and TV shows, most of them related to UFOs. His new book UFOs OVER ROMANIA is out now on Amazon.

wherefore art thou...
ROSWELL? 70 YEARS OF COVER-UP, CHAOS AND CONFUSION
lee paqui
What must it have been like, that warm summer night in July 1947 when the Roswell UFO came crashing down to Earth?
UFO events. How on earth can the researcher ever hope to sort the alleged fact from the alleged event?
Try to imagine it. You’re untold miles from home and your vehicle has crashed. You’re stranded in a scorching desert, wounded so bad you can’t walk, and your companions are dead or dying around you. In fact, you’re pretty sure you’re going to die too... there’s no food, no drink, the air isn’t suited to your lungs, and there are little crawling insects and things nibbling at your broken body. To make matters worse here come the natives, creeping up on you like you might bite, and ready to kill you if you make any kind of threatening move. Even if they don’t decide to kill you, they’re not going to be able to help you. Sure, they might try, with their clumsy and primitive medical skills, but you’re still going to die, light-years from home and all alone. And don’t even think about what will happen after you’re dead – you know what these people are like. After all, you’ve been studying them for quite some time. They’ve just ended the worst war in their history – a war so bad it engulfed almost their entire planet and killed untold millions of their own kind. You’ve also seen how they treat their enemies, and you’re pretty sure you won’t be able to convince them you’re a friend. You’re gonna end up in a jar and you know it…
Time also makes legends, and this generation has been lucky enough to have been in on the story from the beginning. We have been witness to the birth of the next generation’s Holy Grail story – in a hundred years from now, will questers wearing Indiana Jones hats still be seeking the Roswell Grail in the deserts of New Mexico? Will the proof that has proved so elusive since 1947 still be taunting us in 2047? In 3047? In a thousand years somebody may even bring forth bring forth the Roswell Shroud for worship… the scratchy military-issue sheet that the surviving Roswell alien lay on during his (or her) endless incarceration.
Time has a way of making us forget, and in the 70 years since the Roswell UFO crash it’s been easy to forget that there was a tragedy associated with the event. People died at Roswell. We might not want to consider them ‘people,’ but they were living beings and they died a long way from home, in pain and without succour, and not before being poked at with barbaric equipment and shouted at by cleanshaven men in strange suits. If one day humanity should be brought before the Galactic Council and asked to explain our behaviour during those strange days, what will we be able to say? Roswell is destined to become mankind’s eternal shame, and we’re going to have to live with it for all time. Time… It has a way of jumbling things around. There has been so much said, and published, about Roswell in the last 70 years that we can never be sure of the exact details. How many beings survived the crash – was it one? Or two? Did all of them survive, or none of them? We’ve heard tale after tale, all of them plausible and all of them equally spurious – at this great distance of time it’s very difficult to tell fact from fiction. We’ve seen alleged photos of alleged alien survivors. We’ve seen alleged film of alleged alien autopsies. We’ve heard alleged witnesses talk of alleged
8
It’s undeniable that Roswell proofs exist, and even though there’s now a temporal distance of seventy years to surmount, more proofs are being revealed every day. But unfortunately the public interest is waning – like St George’s mythical dragon, Roswell exists as an unlikely curiosity, lost in the static of disinformation, misinformation, and television shows about alien cover-ups and shadowy men in black. Thanks to the Internet we are bombarded daily with false information and smokescreens designed to confuse the reality. And the man on the street is so desperate to cling to the notion that he is alone in the universe that the smokescreens are working admirably. In fact, these days the shadowy forces toiling behind the scenes don’t even have to create the smokescreens themselves – the closeminded naysayers are now doing their job for them, and for free! I don’t believe that there is any doubt about what happened at Roswell in July 1947. There’s more than enough proof to suggest a reality – it’s true some proofs have been overexaggerated, and some proofs have been diminished by the years, and many more proofs are yet to be revealed, but those proofs are most certainly there. The story of Roswell is not about a mythical beast. It’s not about dragons nor grails, it’s not a story invented around campfires, or scratched by monks onto secret parchments in the middle of a cold desert night. But beyond the crash, the cover-up, the survivors, and the retrieved alien technology that allows us to live our current modern lives, there is a story still waiting to be written, and I guarantee you it will have a moral that we will not like. Roswell in 1947 should have been Humanity’s Greatest Moment. Where would we be now, as a civilisation, if we’d reached out a hand of help and friendship instead of covering up every trace of our visitors from the stars?
UFO ENCOUNTER
ALLEGED ROSWELL WITNESS UPDATE Philip Mantle
In June 2017 I released the testimony of the late Deputy Sheriff Charles Forgus who claimed that he had been a witness to the UFO crash at Roswell in 1947. He was the Deputy Sheriff in Big Springs, Texas after serving in the military during WWII. In brief he claimed that he was en-route to Roswell with the Sheriff, Jess Slaughter, to pick up a prisoner. When approaching the Roswell area they heard about the crash on the Police radio and drove to the area in question. Once there they observed the recovery of a 110 foot UFO and dead alien bodies before being told to leave the area. This testimony was given to a US private investigator by the name of Deanna Short. Sadly this lady had also passed away. There is a video interview of Mr Forgus where he details these events. This testimony was investigated by myself and Irena Scott PhD of the Mutual UFO Network. Dr Scott revealed the full information in her book ‘UFOs TODAY, 70 Years of Lies, Misinformation and Government Cover-Up’ and I published it in various UFO publications. It was also featured in the online editions of several of the UK’s national newspapers. One of the reasons for releasing the testimony of the late Charles Forgus was in the hope that either a family member of a friend might come forward with some further information. We knew this was a long shot, but there was no reason why we should not give it a try. It therefore came as a surprise that I was contacted via social media on July 17th by a nephew of the late Deputy Sheriff Forgus. He does not wish his name used in public but I do have it on file. This is what the nephew had to say: “Hello, I just discovered the video you posted of the interview with CH Forgus. He was my uncle. Interestingly, he never spoke to us about this incident when I was young and I only recently found out about the story from an east coast MUFON investigator. I can tell you, he is not a person who would have fabricated this story. He was very a straight-laced and no-nonsense type of person...that’s why he was in law enforcement. I have the full transcript of the interview if you would like to read and post it. Thank you”
Quite naturally I replied and informed the nephew that I already had the transcript in question as it was me who had released it. He went on to add: “One thing I will mention, my uncle’s sighting was not at Roswell. He was a deputy in 1953. I have a very good MUFON report I will forward to you on the event.” Again I thanked him for this and I have the MUFON report in question. MUFON had researched the claims of Deputy Sheriff Forgus and had speculated that he might have been witness to an event in 1953 and not 1947. One thing that is certain is that the Sheriff he stated he was with at the time, Jess Slaughter, was not the Sheriff in 1947. He was a Sheriff in the 1930s and the 1950s, but not the 1940s. The nephew supplied me with his email address and he added to his comments on July 19th: “I don’t have any other pictures of him. He has a son, Glen Lee Forgus, and a daughter Toma Forgus, but I haven’t kept in touch with them. I know Glen Lee lives in California and he has two daughters as well. I found a phone listing a few months ago and called Glen Lee and left a message, but never got a response. I would guess CH spoke to them, but I don’t have any current contact information. We were not a close family. “The only other person that might know the story is his nephew, Charles Buzzbee in Big Spring, Texas. You might try and contact him. His mother was CH’s sister. I would also believe he would have mentioned it to his brother, my father, but if you knew the Forgus family and west Texans in particular, Uncle CH would have been roundly made fun of for sharing his experience. That’s what assures me all the more that he is telling the truth. He was ex-military and exlaw enforcement and was not the type of a person to make up a story like this. I knew him well and can tell you his personality was not one that liked or sought the spotlight. He was also not an imaginative person to create such a story. “He was very straight-laced like all of the Forgus men and women for that matter. It was certainly a very different time when they grew up and my father’s family grew up very poor. So, they were extremely pragmatic and not ones for hyperbole. They believed only what they could see and hold. “I hope this is of some help.” The nephew has supplied me with two contact numbers and addresses of these other family members and I am in the process of contacting both of them as we speak. If I get a reply I will of course let you know. Unfortunately the nephew could shed no light on the claims made by his late uncle but we feel vindicated in releasing this material as we did as it has brought this gentleman forward who in turn has supplied the details of another two family members. Whether they will be able to offer any further information remains to be seen.

SECRET US BASE IN OHIO HIDES LIVING AND DEAD ALIENS FROM THE 1947 ROSWELL UFO CRASH, CLAIMS RETIRED AIR FORCE ENGINEER WHO WORKED THERE FOR 39 YEARS A secret US base in Ohio hides living and dead aliens from the 1947 Roswell UFO crash, according to a retired Air Force engineer who worked there for 39 years. Raymond Szymanksi says aliens from the infamous crash were bought to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) in Dayton, Ohio for inspection. He said a mentor told him about a system of tunnels that house living and deceased extra-terrestrial beings. Szymanski claims his mentor at the facility once asked him, ‘Have you heard about our aliens?’, according to The Sun. Speaking to the Sun Online, he said: ‘During my first week, Al provided me with some totally unexpected and unsolicited sage advice. He said that in 1947 there was a crash down in Roswell and they brought the machines and the aliens here for inspection and said they keep them in secret tunnels under the base.’ The bodies of aliens were said to have been recovered and autopsied by the U.S. military, but American authorities allegedly covered the incident up. Military authorities issued a press release, which began: ‘The many rumours regarding the flying disc became a reality yesterday when the intelligence officer of the 509th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force, Roswell Army Air Field, was fortunate enough to gain possession of a disc.’
military, but American authorities allegedly covered the incident up. The media and the public accepted the explanation without question. Roswell disappeared from the news until the late Seventies, when some of the military involved began to speak out. In 2012, a long-serving CIA agent spoke out on the 65th anniversary of the Roswell Incident to reveal a hidden CIA file on the ‘UFO’ that was supposedly found at the site - and says, ‘It really happened.’ Conspiracy theorists believe that alien bodies from the crashed ‘disc’ were autopsied - and that modern technologies have been built on discoveries from inside the craft. Chase Brandon, an agent who served 25 years with the agency, said that the information is concealed in a hidden vault within the agency’s Langley headquarters. ‘It was in a vaulted area - there was one box that really caught my eye. It had one word on it: Roswell. I rummaged inside it, put the box on the shelf and said, “My God, it really happened.” Szymanski has written a book on the topic called 50 Shades of Greys.
The headlines screamed: ‘Flying Disc captured by Air Force.’ Yet, just 24 hours later, the military changed their story and claimed the object they’d first thought was a ‘flying disc’ was a weather balloon that had crashed on a nearby ranch. The bodies of aliens were said to have been recovered and autopsied by the U.S.

UFO ENCOUNTER
ET ORIGINS by Melinda Hilton
WHY ARE MOST ALIENS BIPEDAL? From the plethora of ET reports from ancient to modern times, many different types of species have been observed. Most (excluding rare sentient plasma clouds) take some sort of humanoid, bipedal form. In other words, like us, they have two arms, two legs, a head, and stand with an upright gait. Another trait common to ET visitors is that they appear to be intelligent. Most will attempt to communicate in some way. What is the connection between intelligence and bipedalism? Perhaps there is a reason that we don’t receive visits from alien quadrupeds, similar to elephants, echidnas, or crocodiles (though in no doubt they do exist on other planets). On Earth many animals are considered intelligent, such as chimpanzees, bottlenose dolphins, elephants, crows, and pigs, to name but a few. Yet, while these species have the ability to communicate, and in some cases, the use of simple tools, none have developed technology to the extent that we have . Mainstream anthropologists claim that it is our bipedalism that freed up our hands and allowed us to improve our technology and construct more sophisticated tools that in turn, increased our intelligence, or brain size. Yet, this simple assumption, though reasonable, falls flat for a number of reasons. Apparently, brain size does not directly equate to intelligence. Elephants, the largest living land mammal, also have the largest brain, yet are not considered as smart as chimpanzees, our closest relative. Some have suggested that it is the body mass to brain size ratio that is the true test of intelligence. While this test seems to work for humans, dolphins, and between closely related species, it fails for others. For example, a horse has a brain:body mass ratio of 1:6, compared to a human which has 1:5.
11
Neanderthals, a type of hominid that may have once lived alongside modern humans (homo sapiens) actually had a larger brain size than us (1300-1600cm3, compared to 1250-1400cm3). Their extinction has led many to believe that humans out-competed the Neanderthals, leading to the assumption that we are of superior intelligence. Surprisingly, for the last 28,000 years, our brains have actually been shrinking! There is an alarming incongruity in mainstream evolutionary theory regarding the development of seemingly enormous brains for no reason. We are supposed to accept that a mere two million years ago, the brains of our ancestors were only 600cm3. It could be that we are the product of ET hybridization, or there may be other factors, not yet fully considered. It is well known that nature does not provide adaptions for functions that are not used. Animals that live in the dark (such as in caves) lose their ability of sight, but gain heightened sensory perception of touch. When humans use tools to overcome their daily difficulties, they lose physical, muscular strength. Compared to tree-climbing apes we do not have curved fingers, so our grip is weak. Yet, we have gained more precision to manipulate tools. Our toes are short for efficient upright walking, and not good for climbing without an opposing big toe (yet, we still have our thumbs). So there is always a balance. When an ability is gained, and unused trait is lost. Bipedalism has many disadvantages. Humans are less stable, and more prone to falls than a typical four-legged creature. Our vital organs are exposed at the front, making them an easy target for sharp claws. We have knee and back problems, as these regions must sustain a lot of stress in the activities of running, jumping, and lifting heavy objects. We
UFO ENCOUNTER
have circulatory problems, as it becomes much harder to pump blood all the way up to the heart against the force of gravity. This often results in varicose veins or ‘blood pooling’ in our legs as we age. A bipedal species also has much more difficulty giving birth than a quadruped. Narrow hips are preferable for efficient locomotion, yet wide hips allow for the passage of the baby’s head and shoulders. We have evolved a compromise, with as small a gap as possible, and give birth to a baby that is “premature” compared to other species, so that it can squeeze out of the hole in the pelvis. As a consequence, human babies are helpless for months, and completely dependent on their mothers. A quadruped animal can move faster than a bipedal human. However, they expend a lot of energy doing so, as their centre of gravity shifts between the back and front legs, and from side to side. Humans on the other hand, have an extraordinary engineering system whereby there is minimal movement of the centre of gravity, mainly due to the angled curvature of our femur (upper leg) bones. This means we can continue sustained movement for a very long period of time, better than any other animal. With our long, constant strides, we can cover great distances. It is possible that becoming bipedal has allowed us to be great explorers, entering and colonising new territories more rapidly. But surely this is not the whole story. Great stamina and the use of tools are beneficial, but is that really why our brains became larger? Intelligence has been described as a self-awareness or sentience, the act of looking in a mirror and recognising one’s own reflection. At a higher level, intelligence is a deep understanding of a person’s surroundings, how it works, who lives in it, and how those individuals interact. It is also being aware of how one action will impact on another. An animal of low intelligence knows only its basic survival needs and how to meet them. A creature of intelligence meets these needs but goes beyond them, to grieve at the loss of another, or offer comfort to someone in distress. Some animals raise themselves onto their hind legs to gain a better perspective. Prairie dogs, for example, will do this when on watch, to protect their family from predators. It is easier to see farther, and from all angles in an upright position. The natural head position for a quadruped is
12
aligned with its spine, which runs parallel to the ground. To look forward, a quadruped must either raise its head at angle to its spine, or sit on its hindquarters. An animal will always lift its head to a front facing position when it is trying to vocalise. Sound simply carries better when it is directed at its target, rather than towards the ground. It is quite possible that one of the reasons that we became bipedal was to facilitate better communication between individuals. In an upright gait, the head is already positioned for faceto-face interaction, whether that contact be with sound, visually with the eyes, or telepathy. Humans have excellent vision and depth perception when compared with other animals, although our other senses are less acute. The whites of our eyes, which are unique to humans, exist for the sole purpose of aiding communication, as the eyes cue visual focus and direct attention. We have evolved to become masters of communication, far beyond any other species on Earth. How limited would our knowledge and our intelligence be, if we did not pass information from one person to another? More accurately, our intelligence could be defined by our ability to generate and convey ideas to each other. If bipedalism serves to encourage the interaction between members of our species, to recognise, to learn, and encourage intimacy, then these factors seem a logical reason for this specific evolution. Perhaps it is too esoteric an idea to appeal to the mainstream academics, but for those who interact with species beyond our planet, who appreciate the variety of life nature has to offer, bipedalism is simply a natural step as we evolve into more complex beings. Melinda Hilton, B.Sc.(Hons) is a researcher and writer. Her interests include planetary colonisation, alien hybridisation, human ancestry, and archaeology. By applying a scientific approach to alternative findings, she has uncovered many holes in mainstream academia. A believer in universal knowledge (sometimes called the “god source”) and telepathic communication, she asserts that the ET presence on Earth is real, and there is much for us to learn. She is currently undertaking postgraduate studies in environmental geochemistry at university.
UFO ENCOUNTER
ANNUAL REPORT President’s Annual Report by Sheryl Gottshcall
Dear Members, Another year has flown by and as I sit in front of my computer I’m wondering how I can comprehensively report to you everything that has taken place within the organisation in a matter of a few pages. Times are changing and so is the public interest and perspective of the UFO phenomenon. Attendees to our monthly meetings now respond more to hearing personal encounters with extraterrestrials than what is referred to as the ‘nuts-and-bolts’ of the subject. Minds are being opened more readily and perspectives are changing at a faster rate than previously. There is no doubt in my mind that the influence of science has played a major role in this change, beginning around the year 2000 when scientists began making public statements about life in the universe being ‘highly likely,’ rather than non-existent, as previously held. This seemed to be a result of the establishment of the new field of the study of extremophiles, the discovery that life can exist under extremely harsh conditions where it was previously thought impossible. While early research papers about this discovery can be traced back to 1968, it’s only at the end of the 1990s that the study of extremophiles emerged as a new discipline. The leap then from the idea that life could not only exist but thrive on the surface of spent radioactive shell casings found on the ocean floor, to life existing on places like Mars, in the rings of Saturn or icy Pluto, then become less of a leap for space scientists. This turned scientific understanding on its head, where even the likes of senior astronomer for SETI Institute, Seth Shostak, now agrees with such claims, where before he would vehemently debunk them. While these examples are a wonderful demonstration that times are indeed changing, in a way they are of great disappointment that the western public mind continues to hitch itself to scientific thinking, which is often creakingly slow in progressing. UFO organisations have to contend with this as best they can, not only supporting witnesses who have had sightings or contact with the other-worldly, but also helping witnesses heal their shattered paradigms. I believe that providing a supportive environment via our monthly meetings, and being there to answer phone calls, emails and messages when witnesses experience something beyond the range of usual human experience, is one of the greatest services we can provide to the public. This is one of the four pillars that UFO Research Queensland is built on. All four include investigation, dissemination, education and support. Receiving information from the public guides us as to how the phenomenon is evolving and investigation of these reports results in the documenting of this process. Dissemination of what we learn then follows as we pass this on to the interested public to add to their understanding of the subject. Education is our response to those who want information about the subject and how it affects our world, and support is given to those as they need it. Our organisition continues to grow and be of service to the public because these services are needed in a time when the authorities continue to defer their responsibility to civilian
13
groups such as ours. Nonetheless, until such time as they stand tall, UFO organisations will remain doing the work as best we can. Reports Reports of UFO sightings continue to be received, however highly detailed descriptions have dwindled to distant lights perofrming unusual manoeuvres. The appearance is that while more of the public are looking at the sky, they are now misidentifying planes, iridium flares, the International Space Station, atmospheric conditions and drones, indicating there is a strong need for education about what is actually flying through our skies. This is a situation that will continue to increase as more technological developments launch goodness knows what new inventions into our skies in future years. Close encounter reports have been fewer than in past years, but they still steadily trickle in. there are a number of reasons why these reports are in decline, with the obvious choice being that the phenomenon itself has changed once again. It’s possible there is an ongoing evolutionary response to the contact phenomenon, which is sometimes more active and at other times less. Of course, other reasons can take precedence, such as the possibility that the public now report to organisations all over the world so the central points for reporting are now diffused, making it difficult to know numbers. However, it behoves us to remember that the emotional climate affects reporting, and when it is not conducive to accepting the type of reports that are currently taking place, witnesses will not report htem. An example of this is the hidden history of alien abduction reports that were taking place during the era of ‘space brother’ accounts, but were lost in the wash due to the flavour of the times. So tis i possible that while many are basking in the current Starchildren reports, there could currently be other types of interactions with ‘aliens’ taking place that we will once again remain unaware of until sometime in the future. Social Media Our social media outreach continues to grow via our Facebook page which, as I write this, reaches 4112 people. Our next best connection is our YouTube channel with over 1000 subscribers. UFO ENCOUNTER
While we have many exciting plans to grow the website, it can’t be done without a webmaster. So, if you have the skills to use Wordpress and would like to donate some of your time, we would be forever grateful. UFORQ Website: www.uforq.asn.au Public Meetings
As of writing this report we have published 64 videos with 1,067 subscribers, and total views reaching 94,908. Of those videos, the total watch time that viewers have invested is an amazing 1,747,496 minutes, or 29,125 hours. The top three videos viewed are Dr Michael Salla, Richard Dolan, and Australian researcher Moira McGhee, with the latter having the most watched time of all.
We have continued to have a good flow of guest speakers through the year. These have included: Judy Carroll, author of ‘Human by Day, Zeta by Night’; Barry Taylor, author of ‘UFO Downunder – How to See UFOs and Photograph Them’; Moira McGhee, author of ‘The Gosford Files,’ ‘Contact Downundre: A Century of UFO Sightings in Australasia and the Western Pacific,’ and ‘Alien Gene’; Jane Pooley, author of ‘Humalien’; and contactee Kevin Robb. We also screened the latest documentary from Steven Greer, ‘Unacknowledged,’ and covered other subjects such as UFOs and Falsifiability, The Electric Universe, Ancient Astronauts: The Evidence, Close Encounters of the Fatal Kind, and UFO Cases Involving School Children from All Around the World.
Barry has recently monetised video viewing on our channel where possible, and so far that has earned $97.17 for UFOQ. Over time this will continue to grow, generating a small passive income for the organisation.
We continue to have high attendance to our meetings and have already begun to line up guest speakers for 2018.
The main component of sales items at our monthly meetings has comprised of books. However, book purchases can now be made more cheaply via online stores like The Book Depository with FREE shipping anywhere in the world. As a result, this year we discontinued our book sales at our meetings.
Membership and Journal We are very grateful to have the continued support of our members, without whose support we could not operate. We have received many kind comments from members throughout the year, many of which have been about the switch from hard copy to our digital journal, which is part of the annual membership package. Your committee took a long time to make this decision as we knew it wouldn’t suit everyone to receive a digital version of the bi-monthly journal. However in the end we had to make the switch to reduce costs that can now be used elsewhere. The ultimate benefit is that our editor is no longer hampered with the 20 page limit and can include more information for your reading enjoyment. It has also allowed her to reproduce colour images to enhance the visual effects, especially when it comes to UFO images. On that note, we give heartfelt thanks to our editor, Lee Paqui, for continuing to develop and produce a journal of such quality on behalf of UFORQ. I have performed this tedious and painstaking role myself for a short time in the past, but not for the many years that Lee has done, nor to the level of quality that she has developed. Thank you Lee for all your hard work. Outstanding! We invite you to send your news items, articles, reports and anything of UFO interest to her at info@uforq.asn.au with ‘Attention Editor’ in the subject line. Filming and Video Production The UFO Research Queensland YouTube channel has grown exponentially this year under the management of our Video Producer, Barry Taylor. His contribution has been a great asset that has allowed our organisation to disseminate recordings of our public meetings to a worldwide audience.
Video editing and production requires many tedious hours of sitting in front of a computer screen bringing the elements of sound, light and timing together to make the finished product just right. Barry’s excellent work has allowed us to increase our online presence in a massive way. A huge thankyou goes out to him for his ongoing contribution to the Australian UFO community. Sales
Just a reminder that whenever authors speak at our meetings they usually bring a supply of their books for sale, so please take note. We have Eftpos available on the night for these purchases. Library This year we also closed our lending library due to lack of borrowing materials. YouTube, cheap online bookstores, and more free online books have now taken on the role of the world-wide library. It’s a sign of the times and actually saves our librarian the work of dragging the library materials to our meetings every month. I’m sure he’s eternally grateful (lol!). Thank you Alan for all your previous work. Public Relations One year ago we saw the sad goodbye of our previous Vice President, Tino Pezzimenti. Tino shared the Public Relations role with me for many years and was an invaluable asset to UFO Research Queensland. While in that role he attended the Brisbane radio station of 4BC for 17 years as resident UFO researcher on the weekly Paranormal Panel show hosted by Brisbane personality Ian Maurice, alongside the resident psychic and an annoying skeptic (!), sharing and debating his view on the UFO subject. A big thank you goes out to Tino for all his hard work and many years of dedication to the work of this organisation. His contribution is deeply missed. Nonetheless, the work continues and this year I’ve undertaken interviews with the Northern Territory News,

Editor’s Note The late and great Jaques Vallee had very strong opinions about UFO organisations, and not many of them were good. He felt that such groups answered a psychological need rather than a “a genuine desire to discover the answer to an interesting intellectual problem… they waste all their energy
UFO ENCOUNTER
and, sometimes, a good deal of money, with practically no visible result.” (Passport to Magonia, 1975, p158). Unfortunately Vallee may have been correct – UFO groups come and go, most of them disbanding due to disagreement and infighting, and very few of them leave any lasting marks on the landscape of UFO research. Fortunately UFORQ is not one of these organisations. While we have not yet got to the bottom of the ‘interesting intellectual problem’ of the UFO phenomenon, neither (it seems) has anybody else, although that hasn’t stopped us trying. Despite Vallee’s somewhat negative pronouncements, I would argue strongly that UFORQ as an organisation has most definitely left an indelible mark on the landscape of UFO research, along with a huge body of research that is now in the public domain, and that it will continue to do so for many long years to come. We’ve been in existence since 1956, and while we can’t deny that we’ve seen our share of intellectual dead-ends, financial struggles and internal disagreements across those long years, even in those times when UFORQ teetered on the brink of dissolution, some unwavering soul or another, determined to get to the bottom of the UFO phenomenon, kept the group on life support until new life could be breathed into it. The organisation has been particularly strong since the 1990s, and this has been due to the spirit and the enthusiasm of its members and of the committee, and in particular the dedicated presidents who have held the organisation together. Sheryl Gottschall has been president of UFORQ for 18 years now (with two separate terms), and prior to that held a number of offices dating back to 1988
16
when she first joined the organisation. Unlike the president of the United States, as all past UFORQ presidents can attest, the role of president of UFORQ is a thankless task – there are no press conferences, no celebratory dinners, no honorary doctorates bestowed upon the hardworking president of a not-for-profit organisation. I’d like to at least partially rectify that now by thanking Sheryl for all her unrecognised work -we greatly appreciate the mammoth efforts she undertakes in order to keep UFORQ functioning. (I’m still working on the honorary doctorate...) Jaques Vallee may have been scathing about the state of UFO research in 1970, but he had the good grace at least to admit to some things that people don’t generally think about. He noted that “Maintaining such a group implies a tremendous overhead – mailing lists, bookkeeping, etc – and experience shows that research is always the last activity it can afford.” (Passport to Magonia, 1975, p158) This is the truest statement ever made – the administrative responsibilities that keep a volunteer organisation afloat are massive, but these are important responsibilities that cannot be ignored. There’s a trick to finding the happy medium between administration and research and the demanding requirements of ‘real life’ (ie, that world that requires you to work, earn money, cook dinner and look after your family etc…), and the fact that Sheryl manages to find time out of her presidential duties to attend to her UFO and Afterlife research, to write for national and international publications as well as our own humble journal, to participate in research initiatives and to keep UFORQ in the public and international eye is something to be admired. As you can see from her report above, UFORQ – and Sheryl – have not been sitting idle.

SEARCH FOR THE UNDERGROUND SPACE BASE IN THE KANANGRA WILDERNESS Rex Gilroy
©2017
The Kanangra Boyd National Park, a vast and mysterious wilderness, hides many secrets of our ancient past. It also hides a secret that has mystified Ufologists from around the country for many years, for it is the locale of some very eerie goings-on involving spacecraft, seen by people over the years, day and night, to fly into, or out of the densely-forested valleys of this mighty south-west area of the Blue Mountains National Park. This author has no doubts that the Kanangra ‘Underland’ is an extension of the already well-published [by the Gilroys] Burragorang Valley Underground Base, from where spacecraft continue to be seen emerging or flying into, particularly at night. The entrances for flying craft are situated in two gullies, and these entrances are placed on ‘time window’ protection whenever any outside earth-based military craft, or even ground searchers, are caught on radar penetrating these locations. The sites are placed on ‘time warps’ in past times, perhaps thousands of years in the past, so that the intruders are unable to discover these entrances. So it is with the extensions of this mighty Blue Mountains complex in the Wollemi, Jamieson and Wollondilly Valley further south. The entrances to these sections of the mighty base are known to the Gilroys, but we prefer to keep this our secret, as readers of our past news articles, and our books on the Blue Mountains Triangle and associated UFO secrets on the Blue Mountains will understand. As mentioned frequently, the Base, and all the others across Australia are a joint American-Australian military-backed centre for the development of a highly advanced, undoubted ET-assisted, space travel superscience, which has for a long time now been secretly putting Earth astronauts on planets that include Mars, and colonising other Earth-like habitable worlds in space in much faster space-flight time than officially theorised for the surface public. The research of Blue Mountain UFO Research Club and National Australian Underground Space Base Investigation Network continues to gather ‘intelligence’ on the secret activities going on there. Among these is

the gradual expansion of the massive ‘Underland’ city for its increasing population, interconnecting roads and rail transport etc.
To avoid repeating a lot of information we direct readers our books “Blue Mountains Triangle” and “The Energy Beings” and “Alien Cobweb-The ET Mudhead Mystery .” Meanwhile, in the light of recent UFO activities between Lithgow, the Oberon district and Kanangra Wilderness, let us turn to certain goings-on in the vast Kanangra Boyd-Jenolan Range Wildernesses.
Night sightings of sometimes quite large ‘saucer-type’ craft [surely the most common seen], have been making their presence known around Mount Cloudmaker, where over the years landings have been claimed as a “Blue Mountains Triangle.” Australian Military vehicles have over the years been claimed seen by campers, driving through isolated forestland into the depths of the country between Kanangra and Burragorang. Twelve months ago a silvery-shining craft was seen around 5pm one September afternoon, to descend from the western sky and in a vertical descent, disappear quickly into a Kanangra Gully.

area of the UFO landing. As the craft failed to re-appear for the people watching from a high spot near their camp, it appeared to me that there is a Base entrance thereabouts. To locate it, or at least get close enough to it without alerting any secret American/Australian guards roaming the region, has been an objective of mine.
Recently together with Phil Whittaker, I entered a remote and seldom visited timber-cutters trail, not regularly used since the creation of the Kanangra Boyd National Park. Over the years bushwalkers that have walked that eerie forest-covered trail have reported finding American confectionary wrappers, even an old discarded wooden crate bearing “US Military” printed though fading on it. The road is shut to traffic by a locked gate, so that obviously it is only accessed by a very long walk. Phil and I came across tyre marks embedded in dried mud at least a couple of weeks old, so somebody is getting in there. A few years ago with a member of our UFO Club, I stumbled upon a camouflaged four-wheel drive trail, which at a particular point began close to the road to continue up and over steep hills, only to disappear down into a gully where it just vanished!
I led Phil along this mysterious trail. One can get the feeling of being watched, and hereabouts that is quite likely, with secret camera surveillance equipment!
Several years ago two young day hikers entered the trail only to be followed by a drone for some distance until they gave up and returned whence they came. In April 2011 there were three occasions in daylight when a small ‘saucer’-type craft was seen by two campers to ‘float’ above the tree canopy, following the road, or perhaps more likely them! When the young men decided to leave the area and return the way they had come, the craft, large enough for two passengers, followed their retreat for some minutes before silently moving away over the trees in an easterly direction. Our visit to the area was called off after a time due to bad weather moving in, but we will return, for I suspect that a spacecraft opening to the Base lies hidden not all that far away, and to get something on camera would be a reward for all the hard work I, and also Heather, have put into the Blue Mountains Space-Base research over the years.

70 Years of Lies, Disinformation, and Government Cover-Up Irena Scott, PhD
UFOs TODAY - 70 Years of Lies, Disinformation, and Government Cover-Up, presents UFO studies that colleagues and I have undertaken during our thirty years as field investigators. The material is presented in chronological order, beginning with information that the government had been investigating the phenomena prior to the Kenneth Arnold event in 1947. The work is new and different because it focuses upon the importance of government research into this subject. What makes it truly unique and valuable is that several of my coinvestigators and I have not only probed the organizations where the research on UFOs has been conducted, we have also worked in many of the most crucial institutions involved in the UFO field. Thus we have had an inside track to understanding the organizations, the researchers, and the results of the studies. The book also includes never-before-published first-hand interviews and correspondence with many of the most important investigators of the phenomena. This is significant because many of these people have died, and those who are living are getting old. Thus, this research provides an historical record of the reasoning and opinions of those making an initial impact in this field. It also covers the complexity of the phenomena, which has contributed to the difficulty and controversy in conducting this field of research. This book also features the testimony of a former US Deputy Sheriff who was an alleged witness to the UFO crash at Roswell in 1947. This gentleman’s unique testimony is published here for the first time.

UFOs TODAY is like no other book on the UFO subject as it comes from an academic who worked behind the scenes at a number of locations and witnessed the official cover-up for herself.
About the author: Dr. Irena Scott received her PhD from the University of Missouri in physiology, did post-doctoral research at Cornell University, has been an Assistant Professor at St. Bonaventure University, and has researched and taught at Ohio State University, the University of Missouri, the University of Nevada, and at Battelle Memorial Institute. She worked for the Defence Intelligence Agency and the Aerospace Center in satellite photography, was a volunteer astronomer at the Ohio State University Radio Observatory, and has taken flying lessons. Her publications include books, and works in scientific journals, magazines, newspapers, and she was a correspondent for Popular Mechanics magazine. She served on the MUFON Board of Directors (1993 to 2000), is a MUFON consultant in physiology and astronomy and a field investigator. She has been a State Section Director for Ohio MUFON, was a founding member of the Mid-Ohio Research Associates (MORA) and its journal editor, and has published UFO material in books and journals (including scientific journals).

UFO ENCOUNTER
JUST A COINCIDENCE? Roy J Hale
“Yes I have had contact,” I said to the curious looking person I was talking to. “But how could you possibly have had contact with an alien?” came his reply. The question like the one above, is a prime example of how certain individuals cannot come to terms with the fact that there are certain people from all corners of this world that have somehow or other managed to have contact with an intelligence which is far beyond anything they could ever imagine. As a child growing up, I would find myself being attracted to the stranger things in life, and I would constantly find myself in rather unusual circumstances and situations. I would also suffer from constant déjà vu, so much so that at one stage I thought I was living in the future. My fascination about the paranormal aspects of life increased tenfold soon after I had a rather unusual encounter with an apparition whilst walking past the local graveyard in Hackney, where I used to live. The apparition was of an old man who was digging a grave. He was wearing an old cap and was dressed in Victorian clothing. The time was 5pm early evening, and it was still quite light at the time. As I walked past the churchyard wall, I saw the man digging at a grave, I stopped for a second to get a good look and sure enough, there he was. I must add that he did not see me. I then carried on walking, stopping suddenly and turning round to take another look. To my surprise, the man had vanished within the space of ten seconds and I was so baffled that without delay, I hopped over the churchyard wall to take a further look. I had a good look around, even at the grave where he had been digging, but there was no sign of movement of earth near the grave and the graveyard was completely empty. This proved to be the start of a very paranormal life. Approximately six months had passed, and on this occasion I was walking down the main high street in Hackney, which was Homerton Road. I was with some friends, having a laugh as kids do (I was 12 at the time) when, suddenly from nowhere, out of the sky came an enormous red fire-like object which seemed to be descending down to the back of some houses about a mile away. I froze to the spot and it felt as if time had stopped dead, but within seconds the object had vanished and I was back walking along the high road with my friends. I asked my friends if they had seen the object and to my astonishment,
19
they all said no. This answer felt to me as if I had somehow been singled out to view this object. I was also left feeling a little bit insecure, as by now my friends were looking at me quite strangely. Shortly afterwards I began having flying dreams, where I would find myself flying around my estate. I was amazed how I could easily glide with no effort, but there would always be someone with me, someone who at the time I was sure was my Guardian Angel, due to the fact that his/ her appearance was almost angelic with a kind of golden glow around him/her. Nevertheless, being only a child, I never really looked too deep into this, but I always had the feeling that I was being looked after in some way. During this period, my luck had increased quite dramatically and was finding that I didn’t need to put a great deal of effort towards making the luck work. If this was a side effect from the other factors, I couldn’t tell you, but it sure was welcome. At the age of 16, I was busy being a typical teenager, whose interests were (and are still) music and enjoying life to the full. One weekend while I was camping, I had a clear daylight sighting of a disc. This was a clear visual sighting which lasted for about half a minute, and again I felt like in the earlier experience, that time had stopped. Now, being that little bit older, I was quite aware that something was not quite right and what I had just seen was, in fact, telling me that I should be more open to the idea of ET contact and to get used to it. After living in Hackney for 16 years, my parents decided to move to Dagenham in Essex. This was to prove a turning point in my life. I didn’t really want to move, but I had no choice. The move from Hackney to Dagenham went quite well and I was settling down to life in Essex, when in 1993 I had an abduction experience which left me feeling quite insecure, but even more certain of what I had been experiencing during my life. After this abduction experience, I started to read as much about UFOs as possible. I even joined a local UFO group, which helped me greatly at the time with regards to information on UFOs. I subsequently found out that I wasn’t the only one who was having this type of contact and my awareness became greater. At this time I was seeing quite a lot of UFOs, day and night. One reason I believe this was happening was due to the fact that they knew that I was aware of them showing
UFO ENCOUNTER
themselves to me and would therefore be open to more viewing. After some time in this local group, I decided to go my own way and investigate UFOs on my own. This I did and have never looked back. In 1996 while I was in Wiltshire with two colleagues, I had my first encounter with the military after viewing and filming some UFOs (please click here for my article entitled “Is this just happening in Wiltshire?” http://www.thelosthaven. co.uk/IsThisJustHappening.htm). As you will find out if you read the abovementioned article, this was not a pleasant experience. On 4th July 1996, I found my first Crop Circle that was formed at Littlebury Green, Essex. This formation became a much photographed Crop Circle and was quite spectacular. However, it was an event that was to happen six days later that would startle me so much. It was Sunday 20th July 1996. I was making a trip down to Cambridge to one of my brothers, a trip I had made often, but on this particular occasion I decided to take the scenic route which went near the village of Ongar, near Epping Forest. As I was driving along the country road, out of the corner of my eye I suddenly saw a very large, rectangular-shaped light, which was a deep red colour and it seemed to be pulsing once every five seconds. It was the sheer size of the light that astonished me the most and I also couldn’t believe that I was the only person seeing this object, as all the other cars seemed to be ignoring the craft. After viewing the craft for approximately one and a half minutes, I pulled over to get a better look as it looked as if it was ready to land. I was glad I did stop, because what I was observing was in fact the now famous Black Triangle. This craft was a perfect triangle which was about 200 feet in length and 80 feet across. The craft was hovering at approximately 90 feet from the ground and at first was moving at no more than 10 mph. On the underside of the craft were two scaffold-type looking tubes sitting on either side of the craft, and there seemed to be a kind of metallic grill patterned structure near the tubes.
20
The object had a huge rectangular red light at the back, with a single, glowing, white/gold light in the middle. There was no sound or noise during the sighting. The craft then slowly started to glide away from the area and would soon disappear out of sight. I was left awe-struck, and for the first time I felt a weird sense of fear running through me because I sensed this craft may not be from Earth. This sighting was to be my first contact with the Triangle, but certainly not the last. Thursday 24th July 1996, four days later, and I was driving down the M11 motorway. It was 4:15am, I was working (I work as a courier driving at night), when I briefly glanced up at the crystal clear sky, and to my amazement I could see a formation of white triangle-shaped lights just sitting in the sky. I quickly pulled over on the hard shoulder, jumped out of my vehicle and proceeded to look up. As I did this, the lights seemed to drop lower, then they started to move away at a very slow pace silently. To date, I am still viewing UFOs on a regular basis and feel this has got much stronger over the years. I have also come to appreciate, respect and learn about the intelligence that has shown itself to me over the years, and still continues to do so. Some days I find myself sitting on a hillside on a lovely summer’s day, taking in the beauty around me and actually communicating with this intelligence. It really has opened my eyes to who I really am, and who we are. Why have they shown themselves to me? I can’t answer that question, but I find that life is a learning process and what has been happening to me is part of that process and to one, which I am grateful.

Are aliens spying on North Wales nudists? http://www.dailypost.co.uk/whats-on/ufosighting-north-wales-2017-13569392
A North Wales nudist site has become a hotspot for Peeping Toms from outer space, it has emerged. Bizarre sightings at a secluded Gwynedd beach popular with naturists has prompted appeals from the world’s leading organisation for investigating UFOs. The alien hunters have put up signs around the area asking for witnesses of any unexplained phenomena around the beach and sand dunes at Morfa Dyffryn to come forward. The US based MUFON (Mutual UFO Network), which has featured in the hit sci fi show The X-Files, say they are already investigating reports around the region. The beach, known for its long golden sands which stretches between Barmouth and Harlech, is widely known for its naturist area. It is highly rated by visitors who prefer to bare all and now it seems to have become a popular spot for a different type of close encounter. The organisation, which logs reported sightings, has posted a notice (below) close to the entry to the beach encouraging visitors to
“report any sightings or sounds and to take photographs” to help with investigations. According to recent reports, strange lights, plasma balls and other unexplained apparitions have been spotted in the vicinity, with occurrences being noted out to sea, on the beaches and on the sand dunes throughout the day and night. However a leading drone photographer thinks there is a more down-to-earth explanation for the mystery flying objects. Andy Sayle, CEO at LIS Aerial Photography, spotted the sign when flying kites on the beach with his children, a short distance away from the designated naturist area. He told the Daily Post they could be drones operated from a nearby airfield. He said: “I’d love to believe there really are UFOs. That said, it could quite easily be drones or UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) being operated from the nearby airfield at Llanbedr, especially since it reopened a couple of years ago. I know several companies that test UAV’s there, quite publicly. So it wouldn’t be a far cry to say some are tested not-so publicly. “We didn’t see any plasma balls (or any other balls for that matter) when we
were there. I suppose it could possibly be some amateur drones hoping to catch a glimpse of the naturists, however given the temperature there, you’d need a bloody good camera and lens!” One report on the MUFON website describes one of the sightings: “Walking my dog on the beach, my son took some photos and after uploading them to the computer I noticed this orblike object on several of them. I put it down to glare from the sun, however a few weeks ago a friend posted some pictures on Facebook of an identical orb-like phenomena, stating they had witnessed the object visually.” Another explains: “It had glowing 5-6 rings and was slowly moving in a circle. From the side it had some lights. It was standing in mid air for between 5 to 10 seconds. I thought at the moment that it was probably some kind of plane or helicopter. Then it moved really fast and disappeared west and upwards.”
USAF Veteran Films UFO Flying at Mach 17, Sends Video to NASA https://hidden-truth.net/2017/07/usafveteran-films-ufo-flying-mach-17-sends-4kvideo-nasa/
A USAF veteran from Ayden, Carolina spotted and filmed a supersonic UFO traveling at 17 times the speed of sound. He filed a report with MUFON, who notified NASA and sent them a copy of the video. On October 26, the former Air Force member was flying his DJI Phantom 3 Professional 4K drone above Ayden District Park when the unidentified flying object traversed the sky at an unbelievable speed. Its movement was too fast for the naked eye to see but upon playing the video on his 4K TV, the veteran was stunned by what he had caught. “I am 59 years old and retired from the USAF,” the veteran told MUFON. “In my 20 year military career I thought I had seen it all. This footage took me back!” “The enigmatic object was traveling at an altitude of just 50 feet but its speed far exceeds that of any manned craft that we know of. Its velocity was
21
UFO ENCOUNTER
estimated to be up to 13,000 mph, or 17 times faster than the speed of sound. “To put things into perspective, the Lockheed SR-71 only breaks Mach 3.2 or approximately 2,200 miles per hour. The SR-71 holds the record as the fastest manned air-breathing jet and the UFO filmed in Carolina was nearly 6 times faster! “On the other hand, the fastest manmade, unmanned object was HTV-2 (Hypersonic Technology Vehicle 2), a rocket glider built and operated by DARPA as part of their FALCON Project. But while the HTV-2 needs to be launched with a rocket into the stratosphere and only afterwards propelled by its scramjet engine, the UFO filmed by the USAF veteran seems to defy the laws of physics as if it was strolling through the park. According to the YouTube video description, the “UFO travelled 6200 feet (about 1.2 miles) in 1/3rd of a second.” “I filed a UFO report with MUFON and they notified NASA and sent them a copy of the video. The video is under investigation and analysis work is being performed on it by both agencies.” While the nature of the UFO is yet to be discerned, two details seem to suggest it has a physical body: the object looks metallic and also reflects light. These characteristics rule out any camera glitch as the possible cause. The veteran’s video was shot in 4K at 30 frames per second and the object appears like a blur in ten of those frames. The distance it manages to cover during that third of a second is simply staggering. Even stranger is the fact that it makes absolutely no sound. Any man-made hypersonic object would roar like a thunderstorm if passing that close to you. The video was analyzed by MUFON investigator Sanford Davis, who was unable to find a suitable explanation for the sighting. “This anomaly was neither observed nor experienced firsthand,” he wrote in the official report. “It was observed as the witness was reviewing aerial drone footage. The whole sighting occurs within a third of a second – a streak arising in the background, streaking across the screen before disappearing in the foreground. It appears as a white dot, flattening out somewhat into a ‘light disk’ right before it disappears off screen.” The YouTube comment section is a testament to the fierce deliberation generated by the sighting: some users vehemently claim it has prosaic origins while the others see it as indisputable

proof of UFO activity. Undoubtedly, the results of the NASA analysis will favour the former. (Video at: https://youtu.be/ JAEi9rltoqU)

On a Saturday afternoon in Sydney in the 1960s, Leonard Buckland was working on his roof. “I saw a dull red object in a clear blue sky,” Leonard, who now lives at Booragul, told Topics. “I watched it move directly down a short distance, then back up again, then forward slightly, before stopping again.” Leonard believed he was looking at a UFO. He watched the strange object for about five minutes, before calling his wife out from the house. “I asked her to look in the northern sky and tell me if she saw anything,” he said. Almost immediately, she exclaimed: “What on earth is that?”. Leonard watched the object for another 15 minutes, before it “slowly moved off in a westerly direction and disappeared.” “The Sunday papers that weekend were full of reports of UFO sightings, even from the Central Coast,” he said. “There were all sorts of theories and explanations from various sources.” In January 1942, Leonard was on school holidays at his then home in Orange. Late one night, he and his brother were fitting new lights to their bikes. “We were keen on trying them out, although it was late and we should have been in bed,” he said. “We would have been chastised by our father if he had known we were out riding our bikes that late at night.” The pair rode along the road, near their house, when they saw “a peculiar and very bright light”.
deciding what to do, the light suddenly disappeared.” The next morning, Leonard and his brother rode back to their uncle’s place to see if they could find any trace of the UFO. “We rode past our uncle’s gate towards another neighbour’s entrance further on,” he said. The neighbour called the boys over and asked if they’d seen any stray dogs around. Something had spooked his sheep. They were huddled in a mob in the corner of his paddock. The boys did not reveal the sighting. “We decided to look in his paddock, which had recently been harvested.” Harvest stubble, about two feet high, covered the area. Except for one spot. “We went for a walk in the paddock and found an area about 40 feet in diameter, where the stubble was swept absolutely flat in an anti-clockwise direction, with no other sign of anything being there. “We decided we must have seen a UFO. Obviously this had been what scared the sheep. We never told anyone. Besides, we were afraid of being in trouble with our father.”
UFO sighting above mines Locals were puzzled by a strange object floating in the sky above Mount Isa Mines on Thursday night. The floating red orb was captured on camera by one reader John Wesy.“I have no idea what it could have been. It was the strangest thing I’ve ever seen. It shot off upwards at what must have been a phenomenal speed because it had a tail on it like a shooting star,” he said. A Mount Isa Mines spokesperson said they did not know what it was either
“We stopped, trying to work out what it could possibly be.” The light was in the direction of their uncle’s property, so they headed towards it. “We kept moving up the road, stopping every so often and saying to each other, ‘will we go further’ and ‘are you game?’.” This went on for 10 minutes, as they rode further along the road towards the light. “We were completely puzzled, as it was a most unusual light, very large, very white and very bright,” he said. “When we had got to a point where we were really scared to go any closer and

A former US Air Force captain has broken a pledge to keep quiet about an extraordinary UFO incident allegedly involving nuclear weapons. Captain David D Schindele was formerly a Minuteman I intercontinental ballistic missile launch crew commander in the Minot Air Force Base missile field in North Dakota. In December 1966 he was at a launch control facility, near Mohall, North Dakota, when an unexplained incident occurred. He claims a UFO destroyed 10 nuclear-tipped missiles he was in charge of, making them unusable. On December 6, 1966, the Minot Daily News carried a front page story saying UFOs had been reported in the local area. The headline was: “Minot Launch Control Center ‘Saucer’ Cited As One Indication of Outer Space Visitors.” Mr Schindele claims air force officials ordered him to never to speak about the incident, and effectively erase it from his memory. But he has now told the “true story of the incident” in the new book “It Never Happened, Volume 1.” Mr Schindele told the Minot Daily News: “During that time in Minot, many of us

experienced unworldly incidents at Minuteman facilities but we were all individually instructed to keep silent. We never realised at the time that others among us were also experiencing incidents, but now the truth is becoming known.”
But, he said a number of Minot missileers had taken their secrets to the grave, or still won’t speak. He added: “With the passing of more than 50 years since my incident at Minot and 70 years since the incident at Roswell, New Mexico, there can be no ethical, moral, or critical reason for keeping the secret from humankind any longer, and my other missileer friends agree with that.
He explained that he decided to write the book after hearing some years ago of a similar incident experienced by another missileer. He said: “About 35 years after my Minot incident and learning about an identical incident experienced by another missileer, Captain Robert Salas, connected to Malmstrom AFB in Montana, which was during the same general timeframe

The Creation of a Pentagon ‘Space Corps’ Is Being Pushed in the US House https://www.seeker.com/space/the-creationof-a-pentagon-space-corps-is-being-pushed-inthe-us-house
Congress took formal steps on Thursday toward requiring the US military to establish a dedicated “Space Corps,” as concern mounts over the vulnerability of American space assets and their central role in modern war-fighting. The move came with a stinging rebuke to the US Department of Defense from key members of the House Armed Services Committee, who asserted that Pentagon leadership doesn’t appear to grasp how delays and costoverruns stemming from a “crippling” organizational structure are threatening America’s military readiness in space. “We are convinced that the Department of Defense is unable to take the measures necessary to address these challenges effectively and decisively, or even recognize the nature and scale of its problems,” said Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL), who chairs the House Armed Services Subcommittee for Strategic Forces, and Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN), the subcommittee’s ranking member, in a joint statement. “Thus, Congress has to step in.” On Thursday, the subcommittee formally introduced a proposal to add language to the National Defense Authorization Act that would require the creation of a separate military service by January 1, 2019 to be directly responsible for space programs — a role that is currently occupied primarily by the Air Force. The new Space Corps would be led by its own chief of staff, joining the existing joint chiefs of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force. Yet the Space Corps chief would answer to the civilian secretary of the Air Force and technically remain within the Air Force as a distinct service branch — similar to the way the Marine Corps technically functions within the Navy. Some senior Air Force officials have spoken out against the arrangement. Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson said on Wednesday that she opposes the creation of a Space Corps. “The Pentagon is complicated enough. We’re trying to simplify. This will make
24
it more complex, add more boxes to the organization chart and cost more money,” she said during a visit to Capitol Hill. “If I had more money, I would put it into lethality, not bureaucracy.”
NASA’S First Asteroid Deflection Mission Enters Next Design Phase https://www.nasa.gov/feature/nasa-s-firstasteroid-deflection-mission-enters-next-designphase
experiment doesn’t change the orbit of the pair around the sun.”
The first-ever mission to demonstrate an asteroid deflection technique for planetary defense -- the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) -- is moving from concept development to preliminary design phase, following NASA’s approval on June 23.
After launch, DART would fly to Didymos, and use an on-board autonomous targeting system to aim itself at Didymos B. Then the refrigerator-sized spacecraft would strike the smaller body at a speed about nine times faster than a bullet, approximately 3.7 miles per second (6 kilometers per second). Earth-based observatories would be able to see the impact and the resulting change in the orbit of Didymos B around Didymos A, allowing scientists to better determine the capabilities of kinetic impact as an asteroid mitigation strategy. The kinetic impact technique works by changing the speed of a threatening asteroid by a small fraction of its total velocity, but by doing it well before the predicted impact so that this small nudge will add up over time to a big shift of the asteroid’s path away from Earth.
“DART would be NASA’s first mission to demonstrate what’s known as the kinetic impactor technique -- striking the asteroid to shift its orbit -- to defend against a potential future asteroid impact,” said Lindley Johnson, planetary defense officer at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “This approval step advances the project toward an historic test with a nonthreatening small asteroid.” While current law directs the development of the DART mission, DART is not identified as a specific budget item in the Administration’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget. The target for DART is an asteroid that will have a distant approach to Earth in October 2022, and then again in 2024. The asteroid is called Didymos -- Greek for “twin” -- because it’s an asteroid binary system that consists of two bodies: Didymos A, about one-half mile (780 meters) in size, and a smaller asteroid orbiting it called Didymos B, about 530 feet (160 meters) in size. DART would impact only the smaller of the two bodies, Didymos B. The Didymos system has been closely studied since 2003. The primary body is a rocky S-type object, with composition similar to that of many asteroids. The composition of its small companion, Didymos B, is unknown, but the size is typical of asteroids that could potentially create regional effects should they impact Earth.
“DART is a critical step in demonstrating we can protect our planet from a future asteroid impact,” said Andy Cheng of The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland, the DART investigation co-lead. “Since we don’t know that much about their internal structure or composition, we need to perform this experiment on a real asteroid.” To assess and formulate capabilities to address these potential threats, NASA established its Planetary Defense Coordination Office (PDCO) in 2016, which is responsible for finding, tracking and characterizing potentially hazardous asteroids and comets coming near Earth, issuing warnings about possible impacts, and assisting plans and coordination of U.S. government response to an actual impact threat.
“A binary asteroid is the perfect natural laboratory for this test,” said Tom Statler, program scientist for DART at NASA Headquarters. “The fact that Didymos B is in orbit around Didymos A makes it easier to see the results of the impact, and ensures that the
