UGA Presents 2018-19 Season Brochure

18 19

Welcome to UGA Presents The Performing Arts Center is a true gem in our community. I am impressed by all who have supported this remarkable venue since it opened in 1996. The 2018 -19 season marks my first as curator and presenter of the center’s world-class performing arts series, now called UGA Presents. I hope you will enjoy the international scope of our programming throughout the year. This season’s program contains some of the finest musicians, theatre-makers, dance, and circus artists currently gracing the stages of the world’s illustrious venues—from Carnegie Hall and the Ryman Auditorium to Broadway and beyond. I’m intrigued by the way these artists connect with us as we watch and engage with them from the seats. What will these experiences do to us? How will we be transformed? We will learn, love, laugh, and maybe even cry as these luminaries entertain, teach, and break down the barriers that so easily separate us. This is the power of live performance— and the reason I hope everyone can find a place here. My great desire is for all people to enjoy something wonderful at the Performing Arts Center. I hope this place will reflect the diversity of our community. It is a place of discovery and learning, a place to see yourself represented on stage in some way. I hope to see you here, and I hope you can see you here, too. #SeeYouHere Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to being with you in the audience when the lights go down. Jeffrey Martin Director
