117 superimposed / layered photos one on top of another
joseph matta design For more than 2 years I have been unsure what to do with 117 sunset photos snapped in Halat, Lebanon. The photos were taken on 3 separate dates in September 2010. Unfortunately, this spontaneous action, born out of irresistible, surreal sunsets did not yield good quality photos. I’m not a professional photographer and, I was using a borrowed DSLR which, was set to automatic 99% of the time. Useless as these may seem, still, I was adamant to get some use out of them.
Inspired by artwork I have seen while browsing online, I finally realised, exactly what I needed to do. Playing with filters and gradients and superimposing textures using Photoshop, I have transformed a couple of these photos into digital artwork. The intention was never to duplicate but, rather to illustrate the endless possibilities of digital manipulation.
