YOUR PLACE TO LEARN With more than 40 years of educating astronauts, business owners, scientists, engineers and teachers in the nation’s fourth largest city, UHCL is the place to launch your future. Three campus locations in Clear Lake, Pearland and the Texas Medical Center, along with online courses, give you flexibility in earning your degree and access to opportunities for internships, networking and hands-on research. Our degree programs give you options to explore your interests and define your future career so you graduate with valuable experience. But learning does not end in the classroom. More than 20 centers and institutes across multiple academic areas give you opportunities to collaborate with faculty on innovative research to improve the world. STUDENT SUPPORT HEALTH AND WELLNESS Your physical, social, spiritual and mental health are crucial to your success, and UHCL offers holistic support to help you be your best. The Recreation and Wellness Center is the place to play sports and games, achieve your fitness goals and hang out with friends. Counseling Services supports your mental health with individualized and group therapy, relaxation rooms and culturally sensitive programs. At the Health Services clinic, you have access to nurses, an oncampus pharmacy, immunizations and women’s health services.

EDUCATION ABROAD

At orientation, you connect with new Hawks, learn about campus resources and how to succeed at UHCL. But it doesn’t stop there. Programs and events throughout the year like Hawk Launch, Weeks of Welcome and Homecoming and Family Weekend help you transition to college life. In the FirstYear Seminar course, you’ll learn critical thinking and communication skills to help you succeed as a student.

Explore the world and gain a deeper understanding of global cultures through the Education Abroad program. Whether led by faculty or one of our global partners, you’ll find a variety of options to earn course credit, participate in internships or service learning or join an exchange program.

Our Academic Advising team is embedded in each college to help you choose classes, select a major and stay on track toward graduation. Advisers specialize in specific majors so you gain a mentor to plan for your future. Our suite of support centers includes the Student Success Center, Math Center and Writing Center to help with study skills and provide support from student tutors who understand your needs. HUNTER RESIDENCE HALL UHCL’s exclusive, traditional on-campus living community puts you in the center of campus, steps away from the Recreation and Wellness Center, STEM and Classroom Building, computer labs and outdoor spaces. As a resident, you’ll have opportunities to live, learn and engage with highimpact programming to connect with the campus outside the classroom. UNIVERSITY FOREST APARTMENTS At University Forest, choose from furnished or unfurnished studio, two- or four-bedroom apartments within a vibrant student community. DINING ON CAMPUS Our primary dining facility, Patio Café, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with warm comfort meals made to order, a fresh salad bar and snacks. It includes the Hawks Coffee House, which serves Starbucks coffee. When you live in Hunter Residence Hall, you are required to purchase a meal plan to easily buy meals without added cost. You can download the Boost Mobile App and use dining dollars to order meals and food items. The Hawk Energy Bar in the Recreation and Wellness Center and a rotation of Houston food trucks are available for snacks and meals on the go. www.uhcl.edu/dining

AFFORDABLE EDUCATION FINANCIAL AID College is a big investment in your future, but you don’t have to pay for it on your own. During the 2020-2021 academic year, UHCL awarded $4.7 million in university and endowed scholarships. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Your FAFSA is used to award federal, state and university need-based aid and becomes available each year on October 1. Apply online at https://studentaid.gov. UHCL FAFSA code: 011711.

TYPES OF AID Merit-based Aid: These funds are awarded to students based upon their academic achievements and do not have to be repaid. Some UHCL meritbased aid includes: • New Hawk Scholarship (Freshmen only): $1,000 to full ride • Automatic Transfer Scholarship: $1,000 per semester • Hawk Scholars Scholarship: $1,000 per semester Need-Based Aid: These funds are awarded based on your financial need. Awards can be in the form of grants, work study programs and low-interest loans. Your eligibility is determined by information from your FAFSA. UHCL offers: • Hawk Advantage Scholarship: $2,500 per year
