Letter from the PROVOST

Dear Graduates:

You have my heartfelt congratulations on your incredible accomplishment! This achievement is a special one for you and your loved ones, and I am excited to share it with you. Today's ceremony may mark the end of this chapter of your educational journey, but as the word suggests, commencement marks the beginning of your new adventure. You now join the ranks of more than 75,000 University of Houston-Clear Lake alumni.

This day is about you. It is about what you have achieved through hard work, determination, and the support of your family and friends, and our wonderful faculty and staff. Graduation is a time to imagine your future. One of the lessons the past few years have taught us is that you never know what challenges will confront you on the road ahead. But what I know, and what I want to say to you today, is that what you have achieved at the University of Houston-Clear Lake is proof that you will be able to confront challenges and succeed no matter what comes your way. You are a Hawk, and the entire Hawk family celebrates your achievement.

Our faculty have laid the foundation that has prepared you for the opportunities yet to come. Now, you must use that foundation to make your way. I challenge each of you to commit to live your life with integrity and service. Remember to help others as you have been helped. Please keep in touch with the University of Houston-Clear Lake so that we can share your success with students. You are the example they need to envision their own futures.

Congratulations and best wishes for an outstanding future.

Sincerely,

Christopher Maynard, Ph.D. Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
