With nearly 50 years of educating astronauts, business owners, scientists, engineers and teachers in the nation’s fourth largest city, UHCL is the place to launch your future.
Three campus locations in Clear Lake, Pearland and the Texas Medical Center, along with online courses, give you flexibility in earning your degree and access to opportunities for internships, networking and hands-on research.
The Freshmen Honors Program and Undergraduate Research Program provides on opportunity for students to explore particular interest areas, be introduced to the exciting world of academic research, and collaborate with a research mentor.
Our degree programs give you options to explore your interests and define your future career so you graduate with valuable experience. But learning does not end in the classroom. More than 20 centers and institutes across multiple academic areas give you opportunities to collaborate with faculty on innovative research to improve the world. HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Your physical, social, spiritual and mental health are crucial to your success, and UHCL offers holistic support to help you be your best. The Recreation and Wellness Center is the place to play sports and games, achieve your fitness goals and hang out with friends. Counseling Services supports your mental health with individualized and group therapy, relaxation rooms and culturally sensitive programs. At the Health Services clinic, you have access to nurses, an oncampus pharmacy, immunizations and women’s health services.

NEW STUDENT EXPERIENCE
At orientation, you connect with new Hawks, learn about campus resources and how to succeed at UHCL. But it doesn’t stop there. Programs and events throughout the year like Hawk Launch, Weeks of Welcome and Homecoming and Family Weekend help you transition to college life. In the First-Year Seminar course, you’ll learn critical thinking and communication skills to help you succeed as a student.

HUNTER HALL
UHCL’s exclusive, suite-style on-campus residence hall puts you in the center of campus, steps away from the Recreation and Wellness Center, student clubs and organizations, on-campus dining, and various student support services. Our safe and inclusive community offers students furnished singles and doubles, with all-inclusive utilities. Highlighted amenities include a community kitchen, on-site laundry facilities (free to use), mail services, a food pantry, floor lounges, 24-hour on-site staff support, an enhanced Wi-Fi network, a beautiful outdoor courtyard, and more. UHCL Hawks living in this community will experience high-impact opportunities to truly “Live, Learn, and Engage” with their peers. DINING ON CAMPUS
Our main dining facility, Patio Café, offers students warm comfort meals made to order, a salad bar, and grab-n-go snacks. Our Hawk’s Coffee House meets your daily drink needs by proudly serving Starbucks coffee. UNIVERSITY FOREST APARTMENTS
University Forest Apartments (UFA) is independently managed by Campus Living Villages and located on campus at The University of Houston-Clear Lake*, with just a short walk to classes and campus activities. University Forest accommodates a community of over 200 students and offers apartment-style living with various private or semi-private floorplans. Each apartment has a spacious living area with a fully open concept kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, and oven. The community includes fully furnished options, internet, water/sewer/trash, and an electricity allowance. Residents also have access to all on-site amenities such as a beautiful pool and spa, sand volleyball court, study rooms, coffee bar, BBQ pavilion, monthly social events, and much more within the gated community.

FINANCIAL AID
College is a big investment in your future, but you don’t have to pay for it on your own. During the 2022-2023 academic year, UHCL awarded $4.9 million in university and endowed scholarships.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Your FAFSA is used to award federal, state and university need-based aid. The 2024-25 FAFSA application becomes available on December 2023. Apply online at https://studentaid.gov. UHCL FAFSA code: 011711.
TYPES OF AID
Merit-based Aid: These funds are awarded to students based upon their academic achievements and do not have to be repaid. Some UHCL meritbased aid includes:
• New Hawk Scholarship (Freshmen only): $1,000 to full ride
• Automatic Transfer Scholarship: $1,000 per semester
• Hawk Scholars Scholarship: $1,000 per semester
Need-Based Aid: These funds are awarded based on your financial need. Awards can be in the form of grants, work study programs and low-interest loans. Your eligibility is determined by information from your FAFSA. UHCL offers:
• Hawk Advantage Scholarship: $2,500 per year
• Hawk Promise: Guaranteed free tuition for new freshmen who qualify
• Federal Pell Grant: Up to Up to $7,395 (for 2023-2024)
• Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans: Up to $3,500 (Fr.), $4,500 (So.), $5,500 (Jr. and Sr.).
• TEXAS Grant: Up to $5,379 per semester, up to $16,137 for the 2022-2023 award year.
Veteran Education Benefits: This is another outstanding resource for benefits-eligible students. Get assistance with securing your VA benefits at the Captain Wendell M. Wilson Office of Veteran Services.

**Individual Review – A holistic approach by the senior admissions office staff that reviews the applicant’s academic credentials (high school curriculum, course type, grades in cores courses), experiences, attributes, as well as the value an applicant would contribute to progressing through the academic curriculum.
Conditional Admission - is offered to applicants that don’t meet regular admission criteria. Applicants are considered for conditional admission through the individual review process. In order to be admitted to UHCL for the fall semester, Conditional Admits will need to attend the Summer Engagement Academy Program and successfully complete 6 credit hours with a C or above.
Secondary Admission - the following programs have secondary admission requirements; Mechanical Engineering, BS and RN-BSN Nursing, BSN.
