These policies are subject to change and may vary by show and series. Contact the Box Office at 713-315-2525. All performance seating is assigned, reserved seating. A ticket is required for admission into the theater. All patrons regardless of age must have a ticket. This includes infants and small children. As a courtesy to other patrons and performers, admittance is not allowed for children 5 and under unless the program is child/family specific in nature. A ticket provides one (1) person license to a seat for the specified event, date, time and seat location. Management reserves the right to revoke this license (ticket) without refund of the purchase price or related fees including but not limited to facility fees, convenience fees, or service charges. License (ticket) user assumes all risk of personal injury incidental to or occurring prior to, during or after the event and agrees not to hold the facility responsible in the event of any personal or property loss. DANCE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS The Dance Program at the School of Theatre & Dance provides three annual scholarship awards to deserving students in addition to awards recognizing deserving outstanding dancers, choreographers and student leaders within the program. Award recipients will be announced in the spring. Joanna Friesen Dance Scholarship Fund The Joanna Friesen Dance Scholarship Fund was created in the spring of 1998 to honor Joanna Friesen’s 20 years as director of dance at the University of Houston. The scholarship is awarded in recognition of outstanding juniors and seniors in the Dance Program and announced annually at the Ensemble Dance Works performance. Patsy Swayze Scholarship Endowment Fund Established to honor the rich contributions of Patsy Swayze, a Houston dance educator who taught at the University of Houston for 18 years, the Patsy Swayze Scholarship Endowment Fund allows the UH School of Theatre & Dance to provide scholarships to gifted incoming dance students. Special thanks to Judy and Walter Jones for their generous contribution in creating this endowed scholarship. ABOUT THE ARTISTS Trevonne Fedrick (Choreographer) is a dance artist studying for her B.A. in dance at the University of Houston. She studied at Sam Houston State University as a dance major and attended several intensive classes at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York City, where she learned a vast variety of styles of dance that she would later teach in various studios around Houston such as Dufour Dance Studio (Sugarland, TX), Cynergy Dance Studio (Katy, TX) and Kids in Dance Studio (Missouri City, TX). Jessica Figueroa (Choreographer) is graduating with a B.F.A. in dance from the University of Houston, where she is president of the Dance Student Association, a member of the UH Dance Ensemble and a member of the Young Audiences Touring Company. She has performed in several works by faculty and guest choreographers. She is a dance teacher at Dance of Asian America, a marketing distributor for Dance Source Houston and an apprentice for Psophonia Dance Company.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Florencia Guarin (Choreographer) will earn her B.F.A. in dance from the University of Houston (2020) and is a member of the UH Dance Ensemble. In 2015, Guarin earned her associates of arts from Houston Community College and was a member of the pre-professional company, the HCC Ensemble under Shani Sterling and Lori Yuill. She plans to audition for dance companies in Houston and work with arts integration within schools after she graduates. Allen LaPoint (Choreographer) is pursuing a B.F.A. in dance at the University of Houston where he is a member of the UH Dance Ensemble. LaPoint has trained in ballet, modern, jazz, African and colorguard. He has danced under the direction of UH faculty and is also a company member of Suchu Dance. LaPoint has presented original works at UH Goes to the MATCH and Dance Source Houston’s Barnstorm Dance Fest and Mind the Gap and plans to pursue his M.F.A. in dance at Texas Woman’s University. Ruby Leal (Choreographer) began dancing at the age of 16 with her high school drill team. During her sophomore year at Texas A&M UniversityCorpus Christi, she joined the nationally ranked Division I Islanders Dance Team where she trained in game day style jazz, hip-hop and pom, and competed in the National Dance Association (NDA) nationals for two years. Leal is currently pursuing a B.F.A. in dance at University of Houston. Leal made her professional debut in Toni Valle’s company, 6 Degrees, in “Never Again” in 2018. Allyson Loving (Choreographer) is a senior at the University of Houston and will graduate in May 2020 with her B.F.A. in dance. Loving is a member of the UH Dance Ensemble, which has created numerous performance opportunities during her college career. She currently works at Dayton Academy of Dance as a choreographer and instructor. Loving began an apprenticeship with Psophonia Dance Company under Sophia Torres and enjoys getting to work closely and collaborate with the company. Mary Catherine McReynolds (Choreographer) is working towards her B.F.A. in dance at the University of Houston, where is a member of the UH Dance Ensemble. She received training from Barbie Rhodes Dance Studio with an emphasis in contemporary dance. Her choreography “Imagination Space” was selected for the gala performance in the SouthCentral Region at The American College Dance Association. McReynolds’ dance film, “elementary” was recently featured at the “Frame x Frame” Film Fest 2019. Gia Martinez (Choreographer) is a singer, dancer, actress and choreographer. She has strong jazz and ballet influences, as well as a background in burlesque and cabaret with The Moonlight Dolls at Prohibition Theatre. Credits include the musical For Tonight with Queensbury Theatre, Diana in Juxtapose Arts Collective’s A CHORUS LINE and choreographing for TEATRX’s production of 21 Chump Street by LinManuel Miranda. Martinez is a singer/songwriter for local rock band DMS and a film actress.


ABOUT THE ARTISTS Carlos Perez (Choreographer) is a professional dancer and aerialist in his last semester at the University of Houston, where he will graduate with a B.F.A. in dance and minor in philosophy. His choreography has been showcased at UH Goes to the MATCH (2017 and 2018), American College Dance Association (ACDA) South-Central Conference 2018 and The Menil Collection. Perez’s latest dance film “Sandcrafting” was showcased in Suchu Dance’s Falling Coconuts. Perez is a current company member of 6 Degrees and Suchu Dance.

Michelle Reyes (Choreographer) has been dancing for 13 years and is working towards her B.F.A. in dance at the University of Houston, where she is treasurer of the Dance Student Association. She has presented works and performed in Emerging Choreographers Showcase, UH Goes to the MATCH, at American College Dance Association (ACDA) South-Central Conference 2018 and in Costa Rica. Reyes has also performed in Barnstorm Dance Fest and Ensemble Dance Works and is currently a member of the UH Dance Ensemble, Young Audiences Touring Company and 6 Degrees Dance. Elyssa Vega (Choreographer) will graduate with a B.F.A. in dance from the University of Houston in 2020. Vega studied abroad at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica in 2017, working with their dance company and students. She is an apprentice for Psophonia Dance Company, where Vega recently performed in “Colony.” She is a member of the UH Dance Ensemble and Young Audiences Touring Company and enjoys teaching and setting choreography at Houston area studios. Antonette Wilson (Choreographer) will graduate in 2020 with a B.A. in dance and B.S. in kinesiology exercise science from the University of Houston, where she was a member of the UH Dance Ensemble. Wilson has trained in African, jazz, ballet, drill and modern from Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Desoto Dance Studio. She has performed at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, American College Dance Association (ACDA) and Miller Outdoor Theatre. She aspires to be a physical therapist assistant, focusing on injury prevention. Lizzy Woodson (Choreographer) will receive her B.F.A. in dance from the University of Houston in 2019. Woodson has guest danced with Noblemotion, Psophonia Dance Company and Jhon Stronks. She studied with Ate9’s Danielle Agami, and her work has been showcased at Mind the Gap 12.0, Lonestar College-Cyfair, Lonestar College-Kingwood and American College Dance Association’s (ACDA) formal showcase. Woodson is a co-owner of Dayton Academy of Dance and a lead choreographer for their competition team Kate’s Dance Productions.

Rachel Redding (Choreographer) is a junior at the University of Houston, where she will receive her B.A. in dance and minor in marketing. Redding has choreographed original works for Dance Source Houston’s Mind the Gap series and the University of Houston’s Emerging Choreographers Showcase and UH Goes to the MATCH. ABOUT THE ARTISTS Edgar Guarjardo (Lighting Designer) is originally from Pharr, Texas, but has been residing in Houston for 10 years. He received his B.F.A. in theatre production with an emphasis in lighting design and scenic design from the University of Houston. Guarjardo was the former assistant electrician on Disney Live! Mickey’s Rockin’ Road Show and former assistant technical director of Queensbury Theatre company. He is currently the resident lighting designer for Psophonia Dance Company, Houston City Dance and Next Iteration Ensemble and also works with various theatre and dance companies, schools and individual artists in the Houston area.
