M āwai Hakona Exhibition runs until Thursday 31 March, 2016. Our exhibition about Upper Hutt’s famous M ā ori cultural performance group, M āwai Hakona, continues to run on our Heritage Wall throughout the month of March. This exhibition draws on local history resources found in our archives, such as the Eric Wood Collection and the Revelle Jackson Collection of photographs of Upper Hutt in the 1960s. These images are all accessible online through Recollect at uhcl.recollect.co.nz. Our exhibition also uses books from the library’s dedicated Upper Hutt and Wellington Region collection. The new video screen on the Heritage Wall shows films and images related to M āwai Hakona and it will subsequently be used to display a variety of local history items from our archives. Visit us today to learn more about our great local history resources and discover more fantastic stories from our city’s past.
