EXPLORE THE EXTRAORDINARY Inspiring high school students to become global leaders through well-rounded collegiate experiences, the Mānoa Academy increases college access, affordability, and success by providing a platform for participants to complete a semester or more of transferable University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UH Mānoa) credits. Bold, highly motivated students seeking new opportunities to be challenged both academically and personally may find their answer in the Mānoa Academy. Through year-round summer, fall, and spring courses, Mānoa Academy students will find diverse offerings that broaden their horizons through transformational experiences, civic engagement, study abroad, and exposure to cutting-edge research. Students will also find a wide array of academic course and service-learning opportunities in social sciences, languages, physical sciences, education and beyond. Mānoa Academy is a program open to Hawaii’s rising high school juniors*. Students, who are successfully enrolled in the program, are accepted to the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa – no further application to UH Mānoa is required! The capstone of the Mānoa Academy program is a study abroad opportunity in Beijing, China during a student’s senior summer. The 4-week intensive summer experience offers authentic experiences that enable students to delve into global issues involving China’s culture, society, economics and languages. All on-site expenses for Mānoa Academy Beijing students are paid for by program sponsors. *Rising high school seniors are welcome to apply.

RAPID GROWTH – STATEWIDE LAUNCH – GLOBAL REACH Mānoa Academy is founded on the belief that many Hawai‘i high-school-age students are eager and ready for the intellectual challenges of a university education. Participants take rigorous, credit-bearing college-level courses. Since its inception, the Mānoa Academy has seen tremendous growth and success. Launched in 2016 in partnership with Kamehameha Schools, Mānoa Academy currently serves public and private high schools in O‘ahu and Maui. Beginning Summer 2018, Mānoa Academy will be available to all qualified Hawai‘i high school students through an innovative online platform. Students will find new horizons opening for them through rigorous academic classes, motivated peers, transformational experiences, and exposure to internationally acclaimed research faculty. With opportunities in the high school, online, at UH Mānoa, and abroad, joining the Mānoa Academy is available to all qualified Hawai‘i high school students. Mānoa Academy courses are available in four ways: •
Mānoa Academy Online: Students participate in synchronous or asynchronous online UH Mānoa courses from the comfort of home. Online courses are compatible with modern learning styles and offer access to students near and far. Online courses provide students with convenience and flexibility while improving technical skills.

Mānoa Academy at UH Mānoa: Students participate in courses at UH Mānoa, the flagship campus of the UH System. Students experience collegiate life first-hand which eases the transition from high school to college. The Mānoa campus is a destination of choice with students and faculty coming from across the nation and around the world.

Mānoa Academy in the High School (for partner schools): Students from partnering high schools across the state of Hawai‘i take courses taught by UH Mānoa instructors at their high school campus. Classes are part of the school day, after school, or during the summer providing students with easy and convenient access to college courses.

Mānoa Academy Beijing (Mānoa Academy capstone experience): Students participate in Mānoa Academy Beijing, a study abroad opportunity that fulfills a General Education Core requirement in the exciting cultural and political center of China. Students will engage with Mānoa faculty, build a network of friends, and expand their understanding of China at the preeminent Beijing Foreign Studies University.
MĀNOA ACADEMY BENEFITS •
