In brief Scampering for heart health Gritman Medical Center will host the seventh Annual Red Skirt Scamper 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, beginning inside the Ross Entrance at the Palouse Mall. Shannon Smith, exercise specialist at the Martin Wellness Center, said the event has been well-attended in the past. Even though an unexpected blizzard blew through last year’s scamper, it still drew nearly 70 people. “The year before, nearly 200 people came out,” Smith said. “Adults, kids and the (UI) Marines ROTC come out in red dresses.” The run is an out-and-back route heading north on Sheep Road.
