BUSINESS LAW AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM
The Business Law and Entrepreneurship Emphasis provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to serve businesses law clients.
Entrepreneurs and innovators need lawyers to organize enterprises, negotiate transactions, and protect intellectual property. The Business Law and Entrepreneurship (BLE) Emphasis offers students the opportunity to become the next generation of lawyers to provide the necessary legal services to businesses and entrepreneurs. The BLE Emphasis provides a structured set of substantive courses, faculty mentorships, and practical skills opportunities for students who wish to develop knowledge and practical experience in this area of the law. The BLE Emphasis provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to serve businesses law clients.
To complete the BLE Emphasis’s course requirements, students are required to: • Complete at least 25 credit hours to BLE coursework • Complete a common core of required courses focused on the fundamentals of business law • Complete advanced coursework in one of three substantive tracks: Commercial Law, Enterprise Organization, or Intellectual Property and Technology Law • Satisfy a skills requirement allowing them to apply business law doctrine in a practical context • Complete an in-depth research paper on a topic that is relevant to their chosen track within the BLE Emphasis Students may pursue the BLE Emphasis at either the Moscow or the Boise location.

The Business Law and Entrepreneurship Emphasis Three Tracks – Many Options
BLE Faculty Mentorship
In addition to completing a common core of required courses, BLE Emphasis students pursue advanced coursework in one of the following three substantive tracks:
All students enrolled in the BLE program are assigned to a BLE Faculty Advisor, who serves as both an academic and career mentor. The BLE faculty bring a broad range of sophisticated business and legal experience and expertise to the College of Law and the students.
• Commercial Law – this track is designed for students who want to help people and businesses structure transactions, including real estate deals, the manufacture and sale of products, and the financing of business operations • Enterprise Organization – students enrolled in this track will be prepared to help entrepreneurs turn their ideas into profitable businesses by forming legal entities, raising capital, and ensuring effective governance • Intellectual Property and Technology Law - designed for students who want to help innovators of all kinds protect and disseminate the products of their creativity to create wealth and further the advancement of knowledge
Practical Skills Opportunities BLE students gain real-world experience in the practice of business law with clinical and externship opportunities. BLE students may choose to enroll in the Entrepreneurship Law Clinic. In addition, BLE students may apply for business law externships with the general counsel’s offices of Idaho companies or with the civil division of various government agencies.
JD/MBA Program The College of Law has partnered with Boise State University’s College of Business and Economics to enable students to simultaneously earn a Master of Business (MBA) along with a Juris Doctor degree. Students can earn both degrees in four years. With both degrees, graduates are poised to represent business clients or manage a business upon graduation.
Concurrent Degrees in Accoutancy Some BLE students choose to enhance their legal education by pursuing a concurrent degree in accountancy. Students may apply to earn a concurrent Master of Accountancy degree from the University of Idaho College of Graduate Studies or a concurrent Master of Science in Accountancy, Taxation emphasis degree from Boise State University College of Business and Economics.
