Your Care In our efforts to provide high quality care and meet our University mission of teaching and research, there are groups of care providers at your bedside. Medical Staff Your care will be supervised by an attending physician. Your physician will order examinations, tests and medications on your behalf. The attending physician is supported by fellows and residents who are licensed physicians. Nursing Staff The director of patient care services has overall responsibility for patient care activities in the unit. A registered nurse (RN) is responsible for the daily management of your care. Other personnel who will help with your care include licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and nursing technicians working under the RN’s supervision. Others Physical therapists, radiologists and other care providers are here to assist in your recovery. In addition, security, housekeeping, food service workers and other staff members work to make your stay as safe and comfortable as possible.

Patient Education Channel We encourage you to take utilize the education provided on the Patient Education Channel. This educational programing is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at no charge. In addition, the Newborn Channel is available on our postpartum unit. The program listings are included in this guide. Cell Phone Policy The University of Illinois Hospital is cell phone friendly. You may use personal cell phones in the Hospital and Outpatient Care areas, except for the Neonatal Intensive Care and the Outpatient MRI Center. Meals You are welcome to select a variety of nutritious foods from the menu ^`SaQ`WPSR Pg g]c` ^VgaWQWO\ 9]aVS` O\R dSUSbO`WO\ [SOZa O`S OZa] available. Meals are usually brought to patients’ rooms on the following schedule: Breakfast: 7 AM – 10 AM Lunch: 11 PM – 3 PM Dinner: 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM Snack Service Patients are offered a selective menu, and they are asked to please circle their choices and return the menu on the food tray or give it to a nurse or diet technician. Patient and Family Resources Pastoral Care Chaplains are here to provide comfort and support when you need it. Upon request, we will also contact your religious/spiritual leader for you. To reach a chaplain, please contact Pastoral Care from any hospital telephone at extension 6-0296, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. After 5 PM and on weekends and holidays, please call the operator and ask for the on-call Chaplain at pager 5477. The IMD Guest House Foundation exists to provide affordable and secure accommodations and a supportive environment for families of patients receiving inpatient treatment. The guest house is located only 2 blocks away in the Illinois Medical District. The IMD Guest House is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and each person or family is provided comfortable, affordable accommodations for as long as they need.
