“One of my biggest takeaways from the Health Fair was the networking that was available with other students and faculty.”

“I learned that many staff members look forward to visiting the grip strength booth as they attend every year and remember booths or experiences that they enjoyed. I felt honored to be a part of that excitement!”

“One of my main takeaways from the Fair is how much I enjoy clinical settings. Being at the Fair reminded me how much I enjoy health and wellness and interacting with patients and or other people in the health and wellness field.”

PERSONAL HEATLH ASSESSMENT IN ACTION

The Personal Health Assessment (PHA) is a 10-minute health survey that encourages employees to check in each year on their health behaviors and well-being and connect with programs and resources.

The aggregate findings from the PHA determine resources that are allocated to well-being programs and resources. Here are many ways the PHA informed the Health and Well-Being Fair this year.

• Preventative health screenings and immunizations The PHA asks employees each year if they have recently completed a screening for diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. It also asks if employees have completed their flu shot for the currnt year. The Health and Well-Being Fair provides a convenient opportunity for attendees to stay up to date with their preventative screenings and get their flu shot in one place.

• In person resources. When an employee completes the PHA, they are immediately connected to a variety of well-being resources in their tailored feedback report. The Health and Well-Being Fair is an opportunity for attendees to connect with these resources in real time to ask quesitons and seek support. The PHA shows that employees experience challenges such as financial stress, caregiving responsibilities, and unique health conditions. Support for these challenges were reflected in the numerous community partners and UI Health Care services present at the event.

• Connection and belonging. Well-being trends and the PHA show that feeling connected and a sense of beloinging at work is important for well-being. The Health and Well-Being Fair brings together departments and employees across the university for the purpose of learning and increasing well-being.
