The kitchen prince of Mocano Mathilda Masters illustrations by Georgien Overwater • Full of fantasy, excitement and humour • Illustrated throughout by Georgien Overwater • Also suited for hesitant readers

Come with us to the cookies kitchen, an intriguing place full of surprises. Hello! Please come in. This is the kitchen where I live. Do come in. Don’t be afraid! My full name is Maximilian Lionheart The Prince. That is a special name. My father was a prince. Not the prince of Belgium or the Netherlands, but the Prince of Mocano.

Mathilda Masters is an explorer. She is now professionally discovering new continents and countries. That is not easy, as most countries have already been discovered. When Mathilda is not exploring, she is writing about her adventures. And should those adventures not be exciting enough, she simply makes them up. Georgien Overwater has illustrated numerous books, for both Dutch and foreign publishers, amongst which the series about Floor, Dr. Proktor and Meester Max. In addition, she made illustrations and cartoons for television, including Sesame Street.

I don’t live in a house, but in an enormous kitchen. The kitchen is unlike any other kitchen. It’s a prison-kitchen. And not just that: it’s a HUGE prison-kitchen, in which countless adventures are awaiting you.

John is just an ordinary boy. He would love to be special! But how do you do that? I am nine years old and nothing special. Just have a look at my name. My name is John, just like my dad. And my grandfather and his father. If I look in the mirror, there is not much to see. I am neither small, nor big. Neither fat, nor slim. My hair is neither blond, nor brown. My eyes are as grey as a sky full of clouds.

Kathleen Vereecken lives in Ghent. She works as a freelance journalist for De Standaard and has already written several novels. In 2010, she won the ‘Boekenleeuw’ for I thought it was love. Eva Mouton studied Graphics and Illustration at the Sint-Lucas Institute in Ghent. She creates graphic columns for dSWeekblad and regularly performs at events.

I am ordinary. It is unbelievable how ordinary I am! But I am sick of it. From tomorrow on everything will change. I will be special, you will see!

Cafard The odyssey of a Belgian armoured corps in WW I Jan Bultheel • A thrilling story based on true facts • Top-quality graphic novel and animation film • A captivating story, drawn in an original style The incredible story of a Belgian armoured corps in World War I finally gets the attention it deserves, thanks to Cafard, an animation film and top-quality graphic novel.

Mordant, who is on a revenge mission after his daughter has been brutally raped by German soldiers. Including an epilogue that clearly distincts facts from fiction.

Cafard, French for cockroach, was the pet name given by the members of the Belgian Expeditionary Corps of Armoured Cars to their seemingly indestructible armoured vehicles.

Jan Bultheel is a director and producer. He made the successful animation series Hazentem for Belgian children’s network Ketnet and TF1. His production company ‘Pix & Motion’ received multiple awards. Cafard is his first full-length film.

But cafard also means homesickness, a feeling that these pioneers were highly familiar with during their long trip along the Russian front and through the United States. This wonderful graphic novel uses historical facts in a fictional story. The book follows the Corps through the eyes of wrestling champion Jean

Amira Daoudi studied at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts Sint-Lukas in Brussels and currently works as an artistic director specializing in film poster graphics. Seppe Van den Berghe is an illustrator, musician, strip cartoonist and graphic designer.
