A Lecture on Laudato Si’ Care for the Earth: Pope Francis’s Integrated Vision of Nature, Culture, and Society On Care for Our Common Home (Laudato Si’) is Pope Francis’s urgent call for all humanity to reflect on our interaction with each other and our planet. Released in June 2015, the encyclical has sparked a global conversation. The Provost and Religious Studies faculty welcome the UIW and local community to study and act upon the pope’s message. In this upcoming lecture, Peter J. Casarella, Ph.D. (Yale University) will explore the Latin American theological background of Pope Francis and the first encyclical on the environment.

San Antonio, TX, November 2, 2015: NSLS participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk on October 10. The chapter raised 53% of UIW’s $5,817.75 team fundraising total. The chapter’s top fundraisers included:

The top three earners will receive a complimentary NSLS Graduation Stole and Cord Set. All other NSLS fundraisers raising more than $50 each will receive a graduation tassel charm. As part of an agreement between The Ettling Center for the Center of Civic Leadership and University Events & Student Programs, Paul Ayala (Director of UESP), will be donating $1000 back to the NSLS chapter for raising the most money of all participating organizations. Students are selected by their college for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction.
