Cardinal Preview Day (Fall Open House) a chance TO DISPLAY your organization to our future cardinals! The Office of Admissions will host the Cardinal Preview Day (Fall Open House) on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. An Admissions presentation along with a student panel will take place in Marian Hall Ballroom. The purpose of this program is to give prospective students and parents an opportunity to visit our campus and speak with faculty and administrators. As in previous years, one of the most important aspects of the Preview Day is the administrative and academic fair. The support of all academic departments, support services and student organizations is critical. Each department will have a table, in which representatives can promote their programs. The Academic Fair will take place in the McDermott Convocation Center and will begin at 1:15 p.m., and end at 2:30p.m. We ask that each table be manned by 1:00 p.m. Please send me an email with the representatives who will man the table and let me know if you need any audiovisual equipment by October 23, 2013. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at ext. 1242 or by email at hrodrig1@uiwtx.edu.

Greetings Friend: The Salvation Army in San Antonio would like to remind you that our Red Kettle Campaign is approaching fast and we could really use your support! A very strong common thread between The Salvation Army and many private, corporate, and community organizations such as yours is that we both have a strong and passionate desire to serve others who cannot help themselves. In working together we believe that we can help each other reach new levels of service and support for those who truly need the help. So you may be asking yourself ‘What can I do to help?’ And the answer is simple: Stand, Smile and Ring. We are looking for individuals & groups of volunteers to ring at our Red Kettles in and around San Antonio. It’s an easy way to give back to our community and it provides us with a very valuable service! Did you know that for every one shift we have a kettle site manned by a volunteer we save over $50 in personnel cost? That may not sound like much to you, but $50 provides a homeless, single mother with three children one night of safety in a secure shelter and nutritious, hot meals for her and her children. Two shifts (or $100) allows a homeless man to escape the night under a bridge for a week and provides a warm bed, hot showers, and meals. Another opportunity is to sponsor a site. With a onetime donation of $1,500 your organization could cover all the cost associated with a single site for the entire season! Not only would you be helping us with this donation, but we will hang a sign from the kettle making everyone aware of your generosity. If you or your organization would be interested in volunteering this season please contact Mr. Joseph Lowe at (210) 352-2000 or at Joseph_Lowe@uss.salvationarmy.org. Thank you for your time and consideration. Yours in Christ, Major Russell Czajkowski Area Commander, The Salvation Army San Antonio
