UIW CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH The UIW family kicked off a Black History Month celebration with a series of events hosted by Campus Life. The inspirational sounds of the Roosevelt High School Choir were heard through Monday afternoon in the musical celebration. The artists Soulfruit and Bosston also performed. In addition, students were able to enjoy some soul food provided by Sodexo on Dubuis Lawn. On Tuesday night, the movie screening of The Help was held with and a panel discussion after. The highlight event of the week was Mr. Dewey Bozella, who
shared his story of Courage & Triumph. Mr. Bozella was incarcerated for 26 years for a murder he did not commit. He was released in 2009 and has since traveled to share his motivational story and inspiring message to all. The week was brought to a close with a presentation of “The Murder of Emmett Till Mississippi, 1955” by Dr. Roger Barnes and Mr. Robert Sosa. Various student organizations will continue to honor this celebration throughout the rest of February.
