Welcome

JCAMP provides a safe, fun environment for campers to build lifelong friendships through unforgettable adventures and quality care. Our day camp is designed to accommodate campers of various ages and interests, regardless of ethnic and religious background. We are conveniently located at the Simon Family JCC on the Reba and Sam Sandler Family Campus, with access to an outdoor waterpark, 3 indoor pools, a gymnasium, basketball courts, and dedicated play areas during the camp season! Camp families can custom-design their summer experience through our flexible scheduling, with options to register campers from two years-old through grade 8 for our traditional day camp with counselor-in-training options for high school students. Our JCAMP team is committed to giving your child a wonderfully memorable summer and we look forward to making your family part of our camp family! All staff members are hired for their ability to facilitate impactful and exciting experiences for all campers. Our camp personnel have had a background check and participate in an extensive orientation program. This brochure includes important information regarding JCAMP program descriptions by age, dates, times, tuition, and discounts. Please read everything thoroughly and contact us with any questions you might have.

Registration

Registration via our online system is easy and convenient with real-time enrollment and confirmation. Register online at campjcc.org or submit inquires to jcc_camp@simonfamilyjcc.org.

Camp Office

The camp office is located on the first floor at the Hebrew Academy of Tidewater on the Reba and Sam Sandler Family Campus. Contact us anytime at 757.321.2342 or jcc_camp@ simonfamilyjcc.org if you have any questions.

Cancellations/Refunds

All cancellations must be in writing 14 days prior to the start of the week of camp to be canceled. All deposits are non-refundable. Parents canceling after the 14-day deadline are responsible for any remaining balance of the canceled weeks. We are unable to reduce fees due to absence, illness, family matters, holidays (including July 4), or vacations. The JCC makes every effort to provide campers with a great camping experience, cannot be held responsible for acts of God, and will not provide refunds for natural disasters that may interfere with the camp experience.

Are You Ready for Camp? Packing List

Please be sure your camper has the essentials every day: T-shirt, shorts, bathing suit, towel, and sneakers. A water bottle, hat, and light jacket are great ideas as well. >Please contact the camp office about any medication or individual needs for your child.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up

Morning drop-off is from 8:30am – 8:45am, and our camp day starts at 8:45am. Half day campers will be picked up at 12:30pm and full day pick-up is at 3:30pm. Parents should communicate with the camp office for any late drop-offs or early pick-ups. Before and after care options are available.

Beat the Heat

We love having as many of our camp activities outside as possible. In the event of extreme heat situations, we make sure that campers are hydrated and adjust our schedule to include extra swim, as well as more time in shaded areas and inside.

Lunch and Snacks

We ask that campers are sent with lunch each day, keeping in mind that camp is peanut-free and requests a kosher style lunch (no mixing of meat and dairy products, and no pork or shellfish products). Camp JCC serves a kosher snack every day. >Please touch base with the camp office about any allergies or specific dietary needs that your child may have.

Safety

Our primary concern is to keep our camp community safe. We have emergency action plans as well as behavior guidelines in place to maintain a healthy environment for our campers and staff. Every camp family should review our policies prior to the start of camp.

Communication

In order to have a successful summer, we strive to maintain open communication between our staff and camp families. We send out weekly reminders with notes and events about the upcoming week, as well as a newsletter on Fridays highlighting all the fun at camp. Please be sure that we have your current e-mail and phone contact information. If you have any questions, concerns, or want to speak to Camp Leadership, please call us at 757-321-2342.

Forms

Every camper is required to have their medical forms (allergies, dietary restrictions, medications, immunizations, etc.) on file. In addition, consent for record sharing, medical authorization, and sunscreen are required. All forms are available through the online registration portal.

Programs

Preschool Camp (2 years – Kindergarten)

Summer camp is more than just a place where children come to play when school is out. Preschool campers will experience new themes and activities every week. Campers will enjoy dress up days, performances, and specialty events like a family night with a movie. Rising kindergarteners will even have two field trips! Our schedule has a rest period for full-day campers, allowing them to nap or enjoy quiet activities, such as reading books or completing puzzles. Weekly Rates for Preschool Camp

Elementary Camp (Grades 1-6)

Campers will enjoy our dynamic program that allows every child to explore their own interests and try new activities within a safe camp atmosphere. Each week, campers choose an activity to explore. It may involve a sport, like basketball or yoga, or a skill set like music, video, or canvas painting. Additionally, campers will participate in a variety of set activities, including: sports, swimming, music, art, dance, and drama. Weekly Rates for Elementary Camp

Teen Camp (Grades 7-8)

Teen Camp is about striking a balance between having fun and giving back. Three days a week, campers will participate in exciting off-campus activities such as paddle boarding, field trips, overnight camping trips, and more.

Teen Campers also have the opportunity to plan their own special projects and give back to the community through activities such as volunteering at the Jewish Family Service food pantry. The combination of recreational activities and community service projects will contribute to a memorable summer camp experience.
