WHAT MAKES THIS PROGRAM AWESOME
This program combines the development of language skills with English- and German-taught courses that expose you to Germany’s fascinating history and present-day culture and society. German language courses are available at the beginning and intermediate levels. A German-taught literature course is offered for advanced-level students. Course-related excursions play a central role in the program, taking you outside the classroom to discover the rich heritage and contemporary culture of Berlin and Germany.
Cultural activities with transportation, entry fees, and guides are included.
IES Abroad staff will arrange your housing. Hosts may be single adults, single parents, or families.
ACADEMIC INFORMATION You’ll take 2 courses for a total of 6 credits. You may take a third course for a total of 9 credits for an additional fee. No previous German language study is required. If you have less than one year of college-level German, then you are required to take one language course. All students are enrolled in EAP 599: Education Abroad at UK: Maximizing your International Experience (1 credit hour). This keeps you enrolled at UK, so you can utilize your financial aid and scholarships.
The on-site orientation program is at the IES Berlin Center, which is located in Mitte, Berlin’s central district.
The day-tour in Potsdam, Germany, includes a visit to Sanssouci Park Frederick the Great’s summer palace!
