ukb i Love is a Losing game
Love is a Losing game: R.I.P Amy
Amy Winehouse is dead and a sad time for British music is on the cards. I’ll say I wasn’t even the greatest Winehouse fan, but regardless she was an amazing artist whose talent you simply had to admire. Drugs seem to be the biggest villain for many celebrities and pop stars and I just wonder what, if anything, can be done to save them from themselves. Amy had to cancel her European Tour in June after stumbling around the stage giving a disastrous, incoherent performance in Belgrave. I think Amy’s death should serve as a wake up call for many youngsters. It would appear that the dizzy heights of fame can make fans view their idols as immortal; this resonates in the minds of the celebrity themselves. But we need to remember that every celebrity is still human, we all feel, we all bleed and we all die. I hope that Amy’s death is not in vain. There are so many in
her position fighting an internal battle and I just hope that this shows them where they will end up if they cannot find help. We also need to remember her parents, friends and family. In an interview in 2008, her mother Janis said she would be unsurprised if her daughter died before her time. She said: ‘I’ve known for a long time that my daughter has problems.’ This for me is the saddest part, a parent watching their child on a suicidal joy ride. Knowing they are about to crash and feeling powerless to help. And now with her passing, undoubtedly a sense of guilt will forever follow. It would also seem that we, the fans, are partly responsible, we feed off reading these tabloids and we love to see stars causing controversy. Winehouse was nowhere near as big a celebrity as she was before her drug problem, it would seem that drugs and scandal makes big money in this country and I’m pretty sure that someone somewhere was cashing in. There has been talk of her label releasing her third album, which is a huge topic right now,
I for one am all for it. Yes I know the label will make millions out of her but Amy was last year on the rich list worth over 6 million, so I doubt her family is desperate for the money. I say release the album and complete her legacy- if the songs are already recorded and ready to go I don’t see a problemit could be her greatest work yet!
‘... If I died tomorrow, I would be a happy girl.’ Yes Amy Winehouse is dead, I never got to meet her but she seemed like a good person. She had her demons but she always struck me as real. This was reflected in her music. In an interview last October with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Amy was asked if she was happy and, asked if she had any unfulfilled ambitions, Amy replied: ‘Nope! If I died tomorrow, I would be a happy girl.’ It seems artists, who leave too soon always predict their own fate. Lets pray she’s finally happy now.

Album Reviews Wretch 32 - Black and White (Album) Wretch 32 may only have surfaced the charts recently clocking up two top 5 singles, however his emergence from the Grime scene working in close conjunction with team members Scorcher, Devlin, Ghetts and Mercston made his presence clear.
Rating 9/10
Wretch 32 and Daley Review Born in Tottenham, Scott grew up alongside crews Combination Chain Gang and The Movement, the latter of which featured Scorcher, Ghetto, Mercston and Devlin. Beginning his MC career in 2006, Scott under the name Wretch 32, released a series of mixtapes, including Teacher’s Training Day - which featured guest appearances from Ghetts, Bashy and Scorcher.[6] After coming to the attention of BBC Radio 1 Xtra’s DJ Cameo, Wretch went on to win a 1Xtra Mixtape Award. The movement into mainstream began when Wretch 32 appeared at Radio 1’s Big Weekend on the BBC Introducing stage in 2009. His debut studio album, Wretchrospective was released in the United Kingdom during 2008, prior to Wretch’s signing
with record label Ministry of Sound. On 6 December 2010, Wretch 32 was named as one of the nominees for BBC’s Sound of 2011, an annual poll, which predicts artists that will progress during the upcoming year. Wretch 32 then continued to release his debut single, “Traktor”. The single featured vocals from L and Marteria and was released on 16 January 2011[7] through Ministry of Sound, as both a digital download and a CD single. The single debuted at number 5 on the UK Singles Chart as the third highest entry of the week;[8] whilst also debuting at number 2 on the R&B singles chart.[9] In an interview with Soccer AM, he stated that he hoped for his second album, Black and White, to be released in August 2011.
Daley - Those Who Wait (Mixtape)
In the mood for something soothing and soulful for your Sunday? Look no further than UK emerging talent Daley. ukb i Business for Young Entrepreneurs
Business for Young Entrepreneurs By Louise Baker When leaving school / college or university you may want to venture off and work on your own ideas for a business, whether you possess all the skills and knowledge needed or not. For a lot of people the thought of working for someone else and taking orders is not an option and this drives you harder to set up your own thing. The best way to gain experience and knowledge of starting a business is to jump in the deep end and do it. You may have fears and reservations about many different aspects i.e. will the idea work, will it make money, the struggle of going at it alone... You need to put your fears aside and soon those aspects won’t seem as much of a barrier anymore. Firstly, you would need an idea and to have done your research. Write your ideas
down and brainstorm, branch out on the ideas. Once you have a, 1st base, then Google the idea, try to find if anyone else has done it before. Remember, just because an idea may have been done before it doesn’t mean you can’t add different avenues that were missed and if you can’t find that your ideas have been previously done... there isn’t a reason why i.e. it didn’t work or was a bad idea, remember others may have come along and thought the same thing. You will need to evaluate any skills you may need for the idea and create a business plan. How will you cope financially? Although some businesses don’t require major start up costs there are hidden costs around every corner so money will be needed. Visit different banks, many will help you put together a business plan and help with finance. You may
want to work part time at first in a job that may benefit your own business just so you have a regular wage coming in. It is of paramount importance that you have good credit to start your company, so make sure any debts are paid off in advance. You can gain support from business advisors. There are many companies offering advice for a small fee. www.ehow.com – Articles on business start ups www.businesslink.gov.uk – Advice, assistance and tips “Ideas are like stars; you will not succeed in touching them with your hands. But like the seafaring man on the desert of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following them you will reach your destiny.“ Carl Schurz uksbiggest.com :11

An Audience with Adot Comedian “Lemme tell you sumthing” This young comic from Peckham South East London has shown that not everybody from Peckham is a criminal, or a gang banger, as many people believe so. Mr A Dot’s style of comedy is very unique and his ideas for comedy come from a range of different sources e.g. past experience, dreams, one to one convo’s with other people and pure imagination. A Dot does sometimes have a tendency to pick on someone in the audience so please be
aware of this when going to see him at a show, because you may be his next victim, LOL. However having said that he is also one of the very few comedians that keeps his jokes clean making his comedy family friendly and appealing to people of all ages. Coming from a Nigerian background and living in the heart of Peckham aka mini Lagos, A Dot’s comedy has hugely been influenced by this. This young comic has brought smiles and happiness to the lives of many and has the power to make
the unhappy, happy whilst he is on stage. Famously known for he’s catch pharses ‘’ Lemme tell you sumthing’’ & ‘’ Its Not Easy’’ which he using to generate laughter from his audience in between his jokes.

ukb i JAY DIFFERENCE & AIMZ “We are proud of the response we are getting from the single package. The two mixes are truly worlds apart but still typically MPz!” (AiMz) What has been your biggest achievement to date? “We have so many goals and things we want to achieve! I felt a real sense of pride the day I finished the video for “Money won’t Change me” I took it to JMoe who longed the vibe of it so much he made a call there and then. Since then we have been engaged with a label, which is preparing the release whilst the remix video is completed.
Jay Difference & AiMz Brings You The MP’z The MP’z (Jay Difference & AiMz) started when the two met at school in Bromley. Jay had been collaborating with various artists and directed, shot and edited videos, which are available on YouTube. Whilst AiMz’s inspirations came from the Grime movement, AiMz noted J’s versatility on a track he heard from a mutual friend, so the following lunchtime he approached him with the suggestion of collaboration. “The MP’z project truly allows Aims and I to exploit our differences. The fact that we have each other’s backs makes the process richer and deeper” (Jay Diff) The MPs are a team of highly creative, competitive perfectionists. Their
focus has been on the recording of the debut album “way overdue” What have you got coming up? At current the MP’z are in the studio working on their album, which will be available on download early next year. Jay Difference also has his debut single “Money Won’t Change Me” which will be available to download from September 2011. The single package contains a new Hip-Hop anthem, as well as a smooth club mix featuring AiMz and JMoe and two accompanying videos.
What’s your music making process? The MP’z music is not forced in the slightest. Their music making process is very much fun and free. Jay Difference says, “Hitting the booth on a bad day is like talking to a councillor” & AiMz says, “Most of my lyrics come to me it’s very rarely forced” Overall they hit the studio in south London with producer Jay Moezart and occasionally there is a direction that the MP’z want to go in, however JMoe is always able to set the tone. What’s your music’s sound? We love the diversity of the new school of Hip-Hop. The MP’z dip into a variety of sounds and influences to create the unique brand of Hip-pop. The arrangements are radio. Aimz is going through a melodic phase whilst J Difference is expressing the many changes he’s been encountering through his verses.

ukb i AKRE
Make “Akres” of space for the freshest sound to hit the UK!!! Akretainment is proud to present their primary recording artist Akre. Jason Kane, aka Akre, is a lyricist, songwriter and all round entertainer from south east London.
His witty metaphor use and excellent lyrical content has already left people wondering what’s next. With beats that are guaranteed to make you get up and dance and lyrics that will have you laughing, crying, reminiscing and, no doubt about it, listening all at the same time Akre is sure to cause a major raucous in the music industry. Akre embarked on a solo career after Garage Connection, the well known garage collective decided to go their separate ways. Since then Akre has performed at various locations around London including Turning Point festival in Camden’s famous Roundhouse studios and The Theatre Royal in Stratford. He also took part in UK Unsigned & Talent in Your Community showcase tours as well as making a name for himself on the underground radio scene.
What’s been your biggest achievement to date? My biggest achievement to date would be performing at the Turning point festival at the Roundhouse theatre in Camden, the atmosphere was great, seeing different cultures enjoying different genres of music and being a part of it was a great thing. Another moment would be opening up for rapper Knaan, that was my first time opening up for an established artist and it gave me confidence and belief that I could really do this! What’s your music making process? I enjoy writing, sometimes I don’t even listen to a beat I just write, sometimes I will listen to an instrumental on repeat and get into a zone and see what emotions the instrumental brings out, which creates the theme of the song and the flow, then find the words that best describe what it is I want the listener to feel.
What’s your music sound? I’m not sure of a word to describe it, I try to incorporate different influences into my music. I try to create music that exposes my personality, showing the different aspects of my life and experiences that make up Akre, keeping it true to myself and the art. His debut single from his forthcoming EP of the same name, ‘Next To Me’ has been very well received by DJs from all four corners as has the remix, ‘Angel Eyes’ featuring A.L Bennett. ukb i rant of the month
Rant Of The Month Ok I’m back for another month and I’ve realised a few things from doing this. One is that I’m very grumpy. And two, getting all this stuff off my chest is probably what keeps me young and sexy!! (oh yeah!) *looks down at 6pac* Aaaanyways, like I promised this month I said I would get on the guy’s case, so this week, Mommas House Ballers! This is the name I have given to guys that think they are ballers when they still live at home. This shit pisses me off! You’re not a baller if you still live at your mothers house. FACT. If your mum is struggling to pay bills whilst you buy a new watch and take pictures posing next to money you’re just a waste man. FACT. Now don’t get me wrong, if your mum is living nice and your kids are well fed then by all means do your thing, but spending money on bottles in the club then asking your boys for petrol money on the way home/struggling to buy food for the rest of the month is not a good look! Neither is being in grands of debt just to have 10 pairs of different colour Air Max’s Please, I beg, just stop it, you got an extra £400 a month cos you live at home and don’t pay rent then you wanna get gassed and by champers. Long! Some people just love to make everyone know when we’re making money, but really the richest guys will walk past you on the street wearing some old jeans and a t-shirt and you’ll never know this guy’s company just made 12 million! I’m just saying, do you, enjoy yourself and live life. But we need to start thinking outside the box, there’s more to life than Bling and Champers, we need to start climbing the economic ladder as people. Only then will we have real money and power. Trust me. Mufasa out!

Harry Ashby from Birmingham dream is to become the next J Sean or Craig David as he thinks the UK is ready for a new solo male singer. ‘’I have always sung from a youngster but never had voice coaching or took it seriously until a few months ago when a group called Downside heard about my singing and got together to make Take it away”. ‘’Take it away’’ has been on over 300 small radio stations and AKA music TV. Also the hits have rocketed on YouTube. The singers that have inspired Harry Ashby are Justin Timberlake, Sisqo, Maxwell, John Legend and many more. ‘’My aim now is to get more known as a singer and get a record deal so I can live my dream instead of thinking about it, but we all have to start somewhere and plus singing makes me happy’’. uksbiggest.com :23

ukb i Shantelle Rochester Give us in your own words what Shantelle Rochester is all about? I’m all about entrepreneurship and creativity. As its because of these things I strive to do my best in all I put my mind too. I don’t want to be held down to 1 title and in the 21st century that’s not necessary. I believe that if you don’t give up and work really hard at whatever you want to do the sky’s the limit.
Shantelle Rochester’s Rise to Stardom Shantelle Rochester is a south London born and raised multi talented female, who has developed her many skills in depth and used them to create her businesses. As an entrepreneur, she has her own production company; she is an actress, singer, model and mother. Whilst striving towards success within the various industries she has recently begun filming a reality series to show the struggles, successes, and all round daily life of a determined individual getting into the entertainment industry.
Hey Shantelle, how you doing? The last time we saw you we were in the rain filming for your show and doing a shoot lol, what’s it all about and how’s it going? I remember the rain that day! I was doing my first photo shoot for Booshie Bagswhich is an online fashion boutique which sell handmade unique bags that I modelled that day. It went great we got some great photos. Since then I did my first catwalk for them in-conjunction with ‘Most Wanted Talent’ agency. It was a really good evening with lots of talent on show.
We hear you’re doing a movie, what’s it all about and how did you get this opportunity? I wanted to create a film that represented a new turning point in urban films. So myself and a great friend of mine Adrian Scott created and wrote a fantastic urban sci-fi Thriller script. Through my company Urban Media Productions with myself as main lead and producer I filmed a few scenes to create a trailer which was screened at Canes film festival last year. Since then we have sourced part funding and are awaiting the rest to film next year. So in essence I created an opportunity for myself. What can we expect from you in the on coming months and when is the show out? In the next few months I expect to complete financing the film and finish filming for the first series for the reality show. There is no release date yet but it will be this year. As always I will keep creating and making things happen, so watch this space! nYou can keep up to date with how it’s going @sirrochester or umpltd or fb southside fanpage and ump.
