What is Clarion? Clarion is an interprofessional student health care competition. Students are split into teams of 3-4 members and given 5 weeks to read and analyze a case study around a predefined health care delivery incident. Teams develop a 20-minute presentation detailing their findings and solutions to prevent a similar incident in the future, along with other improvements to the health care delivery system. The winning team from the local competition will be sent to represent UK at the national competition in Minneapolis, Minn.

Noon – 1 p.m., Lunch at 11:50 a.m. CTW 127 (The Commons)

Why Participate?

JANUARY 2011

Each year, 98,000 people die from preventable medical errors. Clarion’s two main goals are improving the health care delivery system and improving interprofessional cooperation in the medical field. This competition provides students an opportunity to learn about true-to-life health care scenarios, giving them a comprehensive view of the situation and allowing the development of critical thinking skills that will benefit patients in the future. It also gives students a chance to interact with students outside their areas of study and develop an appreciation for interprofessional cooperation.
