Shaping Passions into Professions Our cover says it all: Success thrives here! This message was created by a team of students in an Integrated Strategic Communication class last year. I challenged them to help tell the story of the College of Communication and Information to prospective students like you. They came up with the tone, the design elements and the theme you see in this book. We are so proud to showcase their work. Within a few years in CI, you, too, will be pouring your great ideas and creative energy into projects like this, making your mark even before you cross the stage at Rupp Arena to receive your degree. You will find success, thriving in the classroom, through internships, in our student organizations and throughout the UK community. You may even find yourself placing among the best in the nation for your work, as our students routinely do. In the past year, for example, our students: • Placed fifth in the nation in the National Student Advertising Competition; • Earned UK’s highest ever finishes of fifth in Intercollegiate Photojournalism and 10th overall in the prestigious Hearst Intercollegiate Journalism Competition; • And secured distinguished internships at the TODAY Show, in the NFL and more. On the following pages, you’ll learn about our five undergraduate majors and other opportunities CI has to offer. Our advisors will help you find the path that’s right for you, and our dedicated faculty will shape your passion into a profession. We know you’ll find yourself thriving here, and we cannot wait to welcome you to the CI family. All the best,

Trenton Upchurch Information Communication Technology, 2021 Director of Programming at WRFL/Gen.G Esports Partnerships “ICT came out of nowhere as an option for me. I was exploring campus during orientation, and they had a booth set up in White Hall where I met a few professors who explained to me what ICT was for, how it differed from traditional CS degrees, and why it was a good fit. It made sense, and by the end of my first semester I was committed. Graduating with a CI degree, especially in such a technologically-driven era, is something I never expected when I came to UK. I can’t be more grateful to have found my life’s calling through a chance meeting in the summer of 2017.” Viewbook 2021-2022 | 9
