What is KYNEP? The Kentucky Nutrition Education Program provides educational opportunities for limited resource individuals to acquire knowledge, develop skills and change behaviors that lead to improved health and wellbeing. Adult Programming Healthy Choices for Every Body is a nutrition education curriculum designed for teaching nutrition, cooking skills, food budgeting, and promoting physical activity to limitedresource audiences. Youth Curriculums A variety of youth nutrition education programs can be taught by KYNEP assistants in classroom settings or "summer camp" type programs. Contact us to schedule any programs! 7

Are your kids looking for a summer camp?

Spend a week hiking, swimming and joining in dozens of fun activities at our scenic West KY 4-H camp at Dawson Springs. How do you get your kids involved in the community?

4-H community clubs provide a variety of 4-H projects and activities. Club Members learn life skills, make new friends and have hours of fun. It gives them a sense of belonging to a great group of kids. For more information about starting a group call us! How can you enroll your child in a 4-H Club? Call us at 270-651-3818 to find a 4-H club that fits your childs interests, or to start your own club! It's that simple! 8


Learn By Doing By joining a 4-H club, you can serve as an officer or committee member. The club is the center of activity where members learn about and prepare for 4-H activities at the community, county, state or even national level. 4-Hers have many leadership and citizenship experiences. Why should you join Homemakers? A homemaker's club is a terrific place to meet people, make new friends, learn new skills and make life easier and less stressful. It's a great place to share your individual skills and talents, build your confidence and teach leadership. The Extension Homemakers Association welcomes members no matter what their age, race, color, national origin, creed, marital status, gender or income level. Any full or part-time homemaker, male or female, rural or urban, teenager or senior citizen and in-between, may belong to the Barren County Extension Homemaker association.


What is an Extension Master Gardener? A Master Gardener has an interest in all types of gardening, such as ornamental or vegetable. Master Gardeners want to teach others to garden and are trained by Cooperative Extension Service personnel.

Master Gardeners help County Extension Agents reach more residents who have gardening problems by: visiting garden sites, working in information booths at community events and malls, answering gardening questions at Extension Offices during regular phone hours, teaching horticulture to beginning gardeners, and by exploring environmental options. 11
