TERRI McCLEMENTS
Mid-Atlantic Managing Partner, PwC As the leader of PwC’s MidAtlantic region, I get to build amazing, innovative teams and guide Fortune 500 companies as they grow in an ever-changing economy. In that role, I am teaching and learning every day. But nothing invigorates me more than the time I spend in the classroom with children. Like so many at PwC, I’m committed to helping kids understand how to earn, save and invest money and how to pay for college. Empowering today’s youth with a strong financial literacy foundation is fundamental to their becoming tomorrow’s leaders. Junior Achievement and PwC, through our Earn Your Future and Access Your Potential initiatives, are dedicated to providing students with the tools, resources, experiences, and knowledge required for them to reach their potential. It is because of this
founding pa r t n e r s
shared commitment to financial literacy education and youth empowerment that I am honored to be the Chair of the 2017 Washington Business Hall of Fame. Please join me and the founders of the Washington Business Hall of Fame – Junior Achievement of Greater Washington, the Greater Washington Board of Trade, and Washingtonian– for a beautiful evening honoring this year’s Laureates. These four local business leaders are truly making a difference in our community. On the evening of Wednesday, November 29 at the National Building Museum, we have an opportunity to come together, as one community, to kindle a spirit in a future generation of leaders that will leave their mark decades from now. This will surely be an impactful evening and, remember, the kids we’re teaching now will be the innovators and the business leaders of tomorrow. I look forward to seeing you there.

IN 1988, THE GREATER WASHINGTON BOARD OF TRADE, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF GREATER WASHINGTON, AND WASHINGTONIAN FOUNDED THE WASHINGTON BUSINESS HALL OF FAME TO HONOR OUTSTANDING BUSINESS LEADERS AND ENTREPRENEURS WHO, THROUGH THEIR WORK, HAVE MADE A SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN GREATER WASHINGTON.
Over 100 remarkable Laureates have been inducted into the Washington Business Hall of Fame since its inception. Their storied careers and backgrounds are as broad and diverse as their accomplishments are far-reaching. A call for nominations from the general public is made several months in advance of the event. A nomination committee composed of members from the three founding organizations makes final selections. Honorees must be either in the capstone years of their career or retired from the company most closely associated with their business accomplishments.
Their stories are told and their legacies are celebrated at the annual Washington Business Hall of Fame dinner, a black tie gala with over 1,200 guests which culminates in the Induction Ceremony. As we celebrate the accomplishments of the Laureates, the Washington Business Hall of Fame also looks towards our region’s future. This event directly benefits Junior Achievement’s innovative financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship K-12 programs, which are designed to inspire and empower the next generation to see a brighter future and to answer the demands of the 21st century economy with “I can.”
