Oil and gas trading is a global activity and this programme will draw students who seek an international outlook from across the world.
Unique focus This specialist programme explores the management of trade in oil and gas from the perspectives of both buyer and seller.
This is a full-time programme, covering three semesters.
It is open to graduates from a variety of disciplines who wish to pursue a career in trading energy products.
Industry links The course has been designed in collaboration with oil and gas industry leaders to ensure that it is, and will continue to be, highly relevant to industry needs.
The course is also suitable for people already working in the industry, who wish to conver t from the ‘upstream’ engineering side of oil and gas to the ‘downstream’ side.
Practical learning You will learn in small group seminars and tutorials, where the emphasis is on interaction and activity-based learning. You will work on projects using live databases such as Thomson-Reuters to explore real energy sector issues and devise solutions to those problems. Highly experienced staff You will be taught by staff who combine academic expertise with active research interests or industry experience at managerial and executive level. You will also benefit from guest lectures by industry experts.
Three key themes of risk management, strategy and leadership are woven throughout the programme. You will study the following modules: Semester 1 — Geopolitics of Energy — Global Financial Markets — Quantitative and Economic Analysis — Sustainability in the Oil and Gas Industry Semester 2 — Energy Trading and Risk Management — Oil and Gas Contracts — Production and Shipping in the Oil and Gas Industry Semester 3 — Live company brief culminating in a consultancy report or academic dissertation
