Lludus as playful or uncommitted love; pragma, a practical love founded on reason or duty and one’s longer-term interests; and finally philautia, as self-love, which can be healthy or unhealthy.

Below, however, is the relationship status designed by the LLC which is based on the current popular culture. A total of fivehundred fourteen (514) LLC patrons participated from thirteen colleges of the UMak, coupled with the School of Law and Senior High Students, and with the special participation of the administrative staff.

43.

Yet, it was retorted 8% (40) of patron’s attendance for not being chosen or “log-in para sa mga di pinili,” were not prioritized by 7% (38), and were friend-zoned by 6% (32).

On the other hand, the bulk of the LLC attendance relevant to the said activity that runs in a week from February 13 to 20, 2023 was coming from the College of Science (46%) 238, followed by the College of Business and Financial Science (11%) 58 and Institute of Imaging and Health Sciences (8%) 39. On the contrary, the CCAPS, CPO & ION got the least student presence in the LLC while CHK had no attendance at all. All remaining colleges got less than one-tenth of the total attendance of the activity.

While the LLC Feb-big fun activity is a celebration of love and created a sort of real talk on individual life’s relationship status, it also brought positivity to the participants. It reminded them that whatever their life’s struggles, regardless of their social status, they are not immune to this universal phenomenon called “love,” and their right to love and be loved is what they all have in common aside from the genes that make them human.

By way of alternative, Valentine's season is not just for those in a romantic relationship; love can also be expressed through self-love, friendship, family, or adoration. However, for Plato, love aims at beautiful and good things, because the possession of beautiful and good things is called happiness, and happiness is an end in itself.

v. 2023 National Women’s Month Celebration The 2023 National Women's Month Celebration marks a juncture in advancing women's rights as it launches a new recurring theme from this year to 2028: "WE for gender equality and inclusive society". It sparks a renewed commitment to advocacy and banks on the gains achieved during the 2016-2022 theme. We Do CHANGE Work for Women, emphasizing the need for compassionate and harmonized networks towards gender equality and women's empowerment (GEWE). The LLC is featuring the prominent women in the University of Makati concerning Empowering Women in their respective fields of specialization.

COLLABORATION AND KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE

a. LCU CONSORTIUM, build strong consortial and partnership networks to foster collaboration and address the preservation of non-print materials

b. Community Extension and Linkages, Ocular visit, and inspection for a potential location of a functional community library in Makati Homeville, Calauan, Laguna

The Institute of Nursing (ION), in partnership with the Center for Community Development and Nation Building (CCDNB), launched an outreach program entitled: “TELEMEDICINE” which aims to provide aid to the residents of the Makati Homeville, a project that houses families relocated from various waterways and illegal settlements around the city. Two librarians, Ms. Kristine Lumaban and Mr. Michael Lacanilao went with the ION and CCDNB to observe and adopt the good practices and processes in order to provide and execute a successful outreach program for the library. It will also serve as an opportunity for the librarians for an ocular inspection of a potential location wherein a functional community library can serve the residents of Makati Homeville.

48.

The librarians’ first task is to observe the process and practices of ION and CCDNB in catering and entertaining the participants of the outreach program. Ms. Lumaban and Mr. Lacanilao also acquainted themselves with the officers and staff of the Makati Social Welfare Department (MWSD), in order to build connections that will be used in the plan of Library Learning Commons (LLC) to put into effect its own outreach program in the future. Together with Mr. Joselito Binay IV of CCDNB, the librarians did an ocular inspection on the site and proceeded to discuss the information needs of the Makati Homeville residents and the possibility of the community library with the principal of Makativille Elementary School, Ms. Elenor S. Petrasanta. The UMak Librarians together with Mr. Binay conducted a meeting with Ms. Petrasanta and Ms. Arlyn Zata of MSWD. They discussed the literacy and numeracy needs of the residents, especially the students of Makati Homeville. The CCDNB pledged to assist in providing and in the acquisition of some of the provisions that would be needed to implement the community library. According to Principal Petrasanta, the community library can be placed in one of the vacant rooms in the high school building., cont.nxt.pg.

49.

the LLC and CCDNB just have to inform the MSWD of the implementation date of the community library. It was a very productive day for the librarians, where they had the opportunity to inspect the location coordinate with the staff-in-charge, and assist with the TELEMEDICINE outreach program for the residents of Makati Homeville.

In the future, the LLC hopes to adopt and replicate the good practices of the recent outreach program and implement it in its own program, in order to provide better information sources and an improved way of living for the residents, especially the students, of Makati Homeville.

c. Book Donation from UMak Parents and Guardians Association

Before the conclusion of the academic year 2021-2022, the UMak parents and guardians’ association generously gathered their finances to accumulate an amount to buy sought-after professional books in different subjects’ areas which will be donated to the Library Learning Commons as a gesture of profound support not only to the UMak community but also to augment the LLC collections and likewise to meet the unwavering needs for print resources. The said print donation will be part of the collection and significantly useful both for the faculty and students in the pursuit of academic success and lifelong learning.

Organizational Directions - Shifts, Emphasis, Strategies a. Crafting the policy statement and manual of procedures i. Research & Special Collections (My Lib, My Space)

Overview The digital revolution has changed the relationship between researchers and libraries. Thus, UMak LLC introduced e-content utilizing Digital Library (ODILO), making accessing research materials quick, seamless, and easy for researchers. After the pandemic, LLC will deal with a lack of direct contact since the content is now delivered directly to researchers via remote access. Researchers heavily depend on journal publication databases, considered the most up-to-date literature. Hence, LLC will try to reconnect and increase visibility with the researchers.

To meet researchers' needs, LLC created a dedicated, flexible area for them, providing a better environment for those researchers who depend on the Library. Thus, in turn, they become more motivated and satisfied researchers. The rich center for experiential learning is the fourth satellite unit Library. It is known as "The UMak Library Learning Commons Research & Special Collections" (LLC-RSC).

The special collections section is sometimes a microcosm of the entire Library. It includes a collection of published works, archival material, and a reading room and service point.

54.

The UMak LLC-RSC Operational and Policy Manual was formulated to guide the UMak community: administration, faculty, alumni, students, and other university stakeholders. It consists of general outlines and guidelines to facilitate library users' services following the LLC-R&SC manual.

It also strives to transform its operation to the philosophy and objectives of the University, that is, to serve as a primary instrument in

The manual also: acts as a growing compilation of the objectives, policies, procedures, etc. of the UMak LLC-RSC; gives its staff a starting point for the continuing effort to enrich the services of the Library, and informs other university personnel to avail of the services being offered by the LLC-RSC. Changes Policy Changes. Suppose there is a policy change, the LLC Director will present to ManCom for Approval. Procedural Changes. A library staff member can recommend additional policies to the LLC Director to improve library service. Updates to Documentation. When an Operational Manual document is updated, it will include a new "Effective Date," and "Supersedes" will indicate which part, section, and document title is being replaced.

ii. Cataloguing Policy and Guidelines Librarian catalogers shall follow the latest internationally accepted standards for cataloging such as the Resource Description and Access (RDA), Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), and Library of Congress Classification Scheme. As a general reference, UMak LLC shall follow the “Cataloging Policy Statements and RDA Guidelines for Philippine Libraries” prepared by the National Committee on Resource Description and Access (NCRDA), Manila, 2014, and the IFLA Library Reference Model five modules introduced by the Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc.

For copy cataloging, catalogers may consult the authoritative Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) of the Library of Congress, OhioLINK Central Catalog, and the following Philippine Universities: University of the Philippines-Diliman, De La Salle University, and University of Santo Tomas.

57.

Consistent access for users shall be provided through authority control. Catalogers shall refer to standard authority files such as, but not limited to the Library of Congress Authorities (http: authorities.loc.gov.), Corazon Lim Filipino author’s name in AACR2 headings, to establish a single preferred form for personal, corporate, and meeting names, uniform, and series titles and subject and geographic headings.

The UMak LLC catalogers will refer to the Cataloging Policy Statements and RDA Guidelines for Philippine Libraries, the RDA toolkit, or the RDA print version for items not covered and to check detailed rules. A level of flexibility is allowed, depending on its specific needs. IN UNCERTAIN SITUATIONS, THE CATALOGER’S DISCERNMENT WILL PREVAIL. UMak LLC shall maintain its own Authority Files.

iii. Policy on Educational Resources (OERs) Open Educational Resources (OERs) are "learning, teaching, and research materials in any format and medium that reside on the LLC Digital Library or are under the creative commons copyright law that has been released under an open license, that permits no-cost access, reuse, re-purpose, adaptation and redistribution by others." At UMAK LLC, we believe that OERs are firmly in keeping with our institutional vision and values.

The UMak community can download, edit, and share resources with colleagues and students. In other cases, you may be able to download a resource, edit it in some way, and then repost it as a remixed work. How do you know your options? OER often has a Creative Commons license or permission to let you know how the material may be used, reused, adapted, and shared.

C. Investing in Professional Development Reinforced librarian’s competencies on the following CPDs: i. SPOT on RDA: Adoption of the IFLA Reference Model and Resource Description and Access for capacity building of the UMak Librarians in crafting the policy statements and cataloging guidelines. PAARL launched The Self-Paced Online Training on Resource Description and Access (SPOT on RDA) via Zoom on January 31, 2023. The registered participants, officers, and past presidents of the Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, INC. (PAARL) successfully attended it. LMS administrators discussed the course objectives and modules, course guide, course materials, duration and progression, course requirements, and recommended study plans.

SPOT on RDA is an online training on Resource Description and Access (RDA). It was a project proposed and developed by the Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians (PAARL) and funded by the National Commission on Culture and the Arts - National Committee on Libraries and Information Services (NCCA-NCLIS). It aims to build the capacity of Filipino librarians in cataloging using the RDA standards. The course was developed for all library and information professionals and practitioners.

The Director of the LLC and the Technical Head successfully registered and completed the two months of free online training. They received 5 Module completion certificates and a 1-course completion certificate with 16 CPD points. The training was designed through a learning management system (LMS), which has five module courses such as the IFLA, LRM, and RDA, MARC 21 recording attributes of manifestations and items, identifying works and expressions, and creating authorized access points, and understanding relationships and authority records.

You in the New: "The Transformative Power of Resilience, Growth, and the Emerging Roles of the Legal Information Professional As officially endorsed by the Legal Education Board to all law schools in the Philippines, the Philippine Group of Law Librarians, Inc. (PGLL) invited all its members for in-person seminar with the theme “You in the New: The Transformative Power of Resilience, Growth and the Emerging Roles of the Legal Information Professional” to be held on May 17-19, 2023 at Metrocentre Hotel, Tagbilaran City, Bohol. The seminar aims to develop participants to 1) be apprised of developments in the legal and librarianship profession; 2) acquire deeper understanding of the career progression program of the Professional Regulatory Board and how personal and professional growth impact the value of legal information professionals (LIPs) in the local and international scene; 3) gain best practices from actual experiences of LIPs during the pandemic; and 4) stimulate the core research competency of LIPs to enrich law librarianship literature and maximize the use of publicly available resources.

Law librarians are geared toward the emerging roles of the legal information professional. They have morphed into true legal information specialists providing a broad range of knowledge management services to lawyers and to law practitioners. They gradually turn law libraries into smart libraries as a result of technical advancement and developments. In today's pandemic scenario, libraries have a wide variety of e-resources, digital libraries, e-services, and so on. Smart libraries of the future could use knowledge and expertise, as well as distribute information in e-formats, to meet the information needs of modern library users.
