On our campus, you will have a choice in immersing yourself in the latest techniques in modern patient care, flying airplanes or drones, expanding the world’s knowledge of agriculture, or creating masterful art works. Regardless of your dream, our job is to help you achieve it. With the Fall 2021 semester swiftly approaching, we look forward to having you join us for this adventure of a lifetime. Please know the health and safety of our students and the surrounding community is our highest priority. As a result, UMES has invested a lot of financial resources and strategic planning into new safety equipment and protocols designed to keep our students and our community safe. Some examples included free weekly COVID19 screenings, flexible course schedules, and approved activities and events that follow all CDC guidelines. UMES has continued to be one of the safest campuses in Maryland with a campus COVID-19 positivity rate of less than 2% in 2020.. Should you have questions regarding this next step, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Admissions and Recruitment at 410-651-6410. With Hawk Pride, The Office of Admissions & Recruitment

Cost of Attendance is an annual estimate of direct and indirect expenses. This budget includes direct costs which are reflected on your bill such as tuition, mandatory fees, room and board, as well as indirect costs not reflected on your bill such as books, transportation and miscellaneous expenses for the academic year. The University reserves the right to adjust a student's budget based on enrollment or other mitigating factors.
The Federal Direct PLUS Loan is available to eligible parents of dependent undergraduate students and to qualifying graduate and professional students who have completed the FAFSA for the appropriate academic year. PLUS Loans help pay for education expenses up to the cost of attendance minus all other financial aid received. Interest is charged during all periods. This is a loan that you may be eligible to borrow and is subject to credit approval by the U.S. Department of Education, which will evaluate the borrower's credit history to determine eligibility.
All applicants are considered for scholarships and merit awards. Scholarships and merit awards do not need to be repaid. To view our scholarships visit www.umes.edu/scholarships.
These are federal loans that you must repay to the Federal Government after you graduate or withdraw from the University. Prior to your loan(s) being processed, you will be required to complete Online Entrance Counseling and an Electronic Master Promissory Note (E-MPN). You may complete these requirements at www.studentaid.gov. Undergraduate students must maintain at least half-time enrollment in order to retain eligibility for all federal loans.
FWS is a federally funded employment program available to undergraduate students who exhibit financial need. The FWS Program is designed to assist students with meeting their educational and living expenses through part-time employment. Due to limited funding, FWS funds are awarded to students on a first come first serve basis. New participants in the FWS program are strongly encouraged to contact OSFA for more details.
If you are eligible for institutional or federal grants, they do not need to be repaid.
