Stadium

Architecture Project Location : Sariyer / Istanbul Area : 34,400 m2 Project Year : 2015

Sariyer Stadium, occupying an important place in urban memory, does not sufficiently enjoy the advantages of the characteristics of the city, relative to its own properties, because of failing to meet the needs of the city, being inward-oriented, and responding partially to its users. E. Cornell addresses the mirror image effect of the architecture, meaning that each building has its own outer and interior appearance. He also expresses that both of these effects constitute one of the main points of the architectural skills and that an outer appearance reveals an “expectation” which is required to be “responded” by interiors in various ways. By dealing with the concept of surface through a city stadium which holds this problem of the city, it will be possible to come up with a solution for this concept which is also a problem for this stadium as well as to introduce a real city stadium to Sarıyer. Main idea of the project is formed by the need for an entity which benefits from circulation of people and is able to contribute to the motion of the city.

To begin with a stadium project, first step is pitch localization. In this project, pitch has defined standards. When pitch is placed with its requirements, empty spaces will become more popular potential user areas.

Generally, blocks are specialise in different characteristic places such as “Sales offices, Food Courts and other altrenatives” for users. Blocks also include offices for working solutions. All offices be located in up floors.

The “Championship Square” aims to be a meeting place for citizens and build a space where people can spend time with a lot of activities. Another purpose of the square is being a reference to a gap of the body. Body creates the main block of the Stadium.

The bigger one is chosen for the new facility as a gymnasium. Other block is related in East tribune. The mass is used for food court and WC for stadium. All seperations are relevant with “Championship Square”. This bodies hollows become circulation areas for visiters. The connection between beginning and end of the street is provided with main routes.

Both two tribune have different entrances and circulation areas. Ramp serves spectator. People wanting to reach the East tribune, may use the “ramp”. Using ramp as a circulation zone provides a support for “Championship Square”. Another effect of ramp is, splitting the body zone with an open-air mass. This two different mass allows new usage formations.

The overall people circulation of West tribune is provided by the stairs and elevators where based on behind the tribune, whereas the VIP entrance is located from the nearest block. The “scratch” on the roof represent the dynamism and also follows the main route of circulation. A supplemental extended roof is chosen for gather the citizens together.

Dance School

Architecture Project Location : Kadikoy / Istanbul Area : 8,275 m2 Project Year : 2014

Kadikoy, which has been one of the main “gates” of Istanbul in Asian side together with Uskudar, has many advantages which are in fact underutilised today including both its location on the entrance of the Bosporus from Marmara Sea and its transport technology facilities. Kadikoy, surrounded at one end with Haydarpasha Station building with an unclear future, and at another end by natural port of İncirburnu with an unexploited recreation potential together with the shore line beyond it, is dominated mostly by transport vehicles rather than people. The motion created by people going in and out of this “gate” identified by this natural port needs an entity that will accompany, benefit from or contribute to this motion. It is considered that this structure will not necessarily be a building in the appearance but it will be appropriate to study this aspect through a “dance school” idea. Design process showed that a structure which is supposed to create and embrace the motion itself will have a symbolic/monumental side due to the strategic location where it will be positioned.

Middle referring lines create the entrance mass that called connective circulation. Rest of lines provide the other functional bodies such as studios, cafe and tecnical areas. Bar and cafe are designed for public service on right wing of ground floor. A beginning studio and its technical rooms are designed on the left wing of ground floor opposite of the reception.

The area; which need a solution about potential capasity of people circulation, must be studied with city silhoutte. Because of the fact that the most well-known building is Haydarpasha train station, project is referred to this historical building as a suplemental body. School’s main concept is related to the Haydarpasha Station’s basic lines.

Architecture Project (Graduation ) Location : Konyaalti / Antalya Area : 28,000 m2 Project Year : 2016

Akdeniz University, has an irregular localization. Because of this independent blocks and non-defined areas, the University cannot benefit the advantages of campuse’s oppurtunities which are in fact underutilised today. Clearly this project must be examined grand scale, which contains all campuse. First step is defining the potential expansion areas, which contains Northwest of campuse. Another worth mentioning topic is finding a “path” which includes social circulation routes. “The Olbia Bazaar” has been determined as a divided road to be utilised by students, supposed to create and embrace the motion. This road is extended and aim to serve student circulation. These two distinct paths create the structure of campuse. Furthermore paths allow to form the main body of Fine Arts Faculty.

GROUND FLOOR PLAN

The patch space, which tends to create new route to the potentional expansion areas, creates the bodies main yard. Yard spreads all the connections and provides circulation areas with distinct landscape items. Another significant worth mentioning is there are several of inside gardens for maintaining the natural landscapes.

The ground floor contains; The Great Hall as an entrance, student affairs offices, ceramics, glass, and sculpture studios, a cafeteria, student centre, offices and lounge (for exhibitions).

A red supplemental body is created as an alternative way to combining or involving several academic disciplines on professional specializations in an approach to a topic or problem. This body connects distinct departments each other. Furthermore mass also provides a main option for people circulation.

The floor plan contains; the Great Hall ( for exhibition), architecture design studios, a painting studio in red body. Fashion&Design Studios and a performance podium figure in the green triangle body. The common areas such as; classes(common use), library, academician offices and social areas are located in the great gray body. In contrast to other parts of bodies, the blue mass contains common exercise studios which is served as a condencer to integrate distinct department’s works all together and aim to benefit the opportunities of being an art faculty.

A different supplemental body is formed supporting the circulation system as a defined functional body which is a “Conservatory. This yellow body focuses on two distinct which are; serving as a conservatory and providing a bridge among different disciplines. The conservatory has a steady pattern and this situation refers to observing the deconstructivist design which is why the mass is extended and become an item of facade.

Red body contains main circulation areas and common classes of conservatory. The triangle green body contains; a green roof that is allowed to utilize by its owners and dance studios for performing art students. The common areas such as; classes(common use), library, academician offices and social areas are located in the great gray body. The blue body contains practical studios for stage design studies.

This project is approached with deconstructivism’s fragmentation. The main idea which refers to project is multidisciplinary features. This connection among different bodies is reunited by distinct functional systems. Bodies aim to constitute their user areas independently. Mass fragmentation serves seperated systems.

The basement plan contains; several of studios which related with; the departments of Cinema&TV, which are Design Studios, Photography Studios, Make-Up Studios, Accessory Studios, Backstage and Furniture Studios in gray body. An amphitheater is formed, its owners may utilize for perform their events readily. The cafeteria’s kitchen is hidden in basement level. Multi-media Studios and material-Research Studios are located in basement level.

The floor plan contains; social areas and academician offices. The “Bridge” among different zones is determined by their functional requirements. Galerry and Bridges which follow each others projection, refer to roof . Other roofs are determined and specialised with their relation about bodies. Roof has big openings and this situation allows all interior areas to be lighted by daily sun-light.

Project allows to new developments, especially for the deep “Valley”. This valley is used as a social area and installation area. Furthermore, there is an option which related to connect the valley and amphitheater. A lobby may serve as a buff-zone between valley and theater.

As I wandered through the night, I saw Venus walk across the moon And I couldn’t keep my eyes off her. Her steps created the stars As I trailed behind her winds.. Then the skies moved me to her, And I found my place Inside her fragnant clouds.

Happy offices mean happy employees, designed ING Bank’s new office to create better communication based on outcomes of workshop. New workspace of ING Bank is adapting itself to changing office workspaces. To enjoy daylight, workstations are located beside the window edge. Rooms that require daylight relatively less, like meeting rooms, are located mostly at around the core. Standard workstations are shifted to “shared desks” for collaborated working. Bakirkure Architects created an office which has changeable workspaces according to employees mood and wish with combination of social and working areas .
